Jibing on water

Jibing, as well as tacking, are tack changes. Gybing, unlike tacking which is done when you head upwind, is done when you are heading downwind.

For those who are new to wing foils, and have no experience with foils, jibing on the water is a very good training before jibing in the air, the time to get used to the foil and the wing. You may also have to jibe on the water during a session when the wind has dropped and you don’t have enough speed to launch your foil again. This manoeuvre will allow you to return to your starting point.

The video below takes you step by step through the key points of this transition so that you can practice it in your next sessions.
