One wing, 3 handles systems

This wing is equipped with our ingenious GFS feature (GONG Fastening System) of interchangeable handles, allowing you to change the handles according to your preferences and your program, as well as according to the conditions.

With just two turns of a key, you can upgrade your wing based on your needs, switching from the standard textile handles to rigid carbon handles or our carbon boom.

A true innovation designed to enhance your experience, enabling you to adapt your wing to your skill level, your sensations, and the type of session.

Choosing Your Handles:

The base of the handle attachment, which perfectly fits your central strut, already provides much more firmness, rigidity, and thus control when your wing is set up with textile handles.

However, with our system and this triple solution of textile handles / rigid handles / boom, you can vary the entire dynamic of the wing.

  • Textile Handles

More rigid than those on the 2024 V1 wings, they offer a very soft and more secure feeling. You feel much less "pulled" because the strut can absorb the gusts. In case of a fall or impact, textile handles are much less aggressive than a boom. They have the advantage of being light and less cumbersome. We recommend beginners prioritize textile handles to protect their board and their teeth 😉. The same goes for when you attempt your first backflips and end up lying on the strut!

  • Rigid Handles

These provide an incredibly direct feeling and make the wing much more precise, taking you to another level of performance. The responsiveness is impressive, and the wing seems to be able to accelerate infinitely. You have a direct connection with the wing, responding in a split second. On the other hand, the wing will be more technically demanding.

They are the exact compromise between a boom and textile handles, offering power and tolerance in the profile. Additionally, they are less cumbersome than the boom.

  • The Boom

This is the ultimate handle for entering the world of performance.

It absorbs a large portion of the bending forces exerted on the central strut: the wing is very rigid, maintaining its tension and reducing sagging. It locks the profile. The power gain is maximal, and the wing's maneuverability is facilitated by the ample gripping length available on the boom. It opens up new freestyle possibilities for you! Backloop spins and backmobs are all yours!

It is also the lightest system among our rigid handle systems.

The forward bends of the rigid handle and the boom have an ergonomic angle that eases long runs and provides an ideal pistol grip for DW/freefly and surfing.

This way, you maintain a base level of power that you can modulate as needed, eliminating potential flaps that slow you down. Very practical when you know how to use it well.

Handles/booms are not just different gripping styles: they are performance elements that you can adjust with GONG! This way, the profile is even more effective in responding to your desires.

Handle construction:

GONG Fastening System

The fixing parts are designed for play-free assembly. They are completely removable in 30 seconds, therefore scalable and interchangeable with textile, rigid handles or a boom.

The handles are fixed with two torx screws on US nuts: the same as those of your foil and the same screw pattern as those of your foil. Everything is designed to be compatible and modular.

The handles are screwed onto webbing reinforcements which go around the central strut to distribute the forces over its entire circumference. This system has already proven itself for many years on our wings with textile handles, and for use beyond 12 months. The assembly sandwiches the strap for maximum strength and does not allow any twisting.

In order to protect the wing from rigid parts, we use Kevlar reinforcements, very expensive materials but which offer incomparable abrasion resistance. We have chosen not to use sewn flexible plastic, the lifespan of which is quite poor in the marine environment, under heavy loads and because of UV rays.

Our fixing parts are made of nylon filled with 20% fiberglass, which guarantees them very high durability. In addition, this material reduces the risk of breaking your board: nothing worse than carbon hitting carbon. The nylon of our handle elbows is perfectly rigid but sufficiently absorbent in shocks.

Our system is really smart and leaves no room for play. It is perfectly rigid and impossible to undo while sailing. No scratches, no loose lines, no fragile parts, no soft plastics that fail after a year exposed to UV, nothing that can fail while sailing. On the contrary, our parts enclose the straps which encircle the entire central strut: total reliability proven for years. No risk of the slat being torn off by the handle after a few months…

Textile handles

Our interchangeable textile handles consist of a rigid PVC body and comfortable EVA foam.
They are wrapped in a very resistant and non-abrasive nylon strap. Like our rigid textile downwind handles, a new central longitudinal seam brings even more rigidity to the textile handles of the batten.
The rigidity of the complex provides direct and precise control of the wing in all circumstances, protects your board from shocks, and can be stored in one minute.

Rigid handles and carbon boom

The rigid handles* and our booms* are made of a prepreg carbon tube wound in 4 directions for minimum weight and maximum strength/rigidity.

It is the most high-end technology on the market to make no concessions between rigidity, weight and performance. With their oval section, they offer a better grip for less fatigue and maximum comfort. Ovalization also offers more rigidity while allowing the diameter to be reduced.

Our rigid handles are covered with a textured molded grip which further improves grip and reduces effort. It's velvet...
