GEAR: THE STRUTLESS V4 RATIOS !!!

Within the new product reveals on the new version of our kites last week, the modification of the ratios on the Strutless is a major change where l’Ours explains to us the benefits in detail on our forum.

We have to understand that the V4s are almost a revolution. So when you talk of an upgrade of the low range, it is mainly a total change in the behaviour of the lower range which we have to talk about.

The ratio

The V3 had a constant ratio, so the large sizes pulled hard and quickly. But they reached a limit very quickly as we are quickly overwhelmed by the power. They had a lot of torque even in the low range with exemplary maneuverability. In short they were great but in a limited wind range.

The V4s have a ratio adapted to the program of their wind range. With a 5m² in 25 knots, I don’t care if I go faster than the wind. In contrary, in 6 knots, with a 19m² V4, I will want to overtake the wind’s speed. In that case a high ratio will allow me to make the best of the winds speed and reach crazy speed in a very low wind.

So depending on the size of my kite, a V4 Strutless will be steered depending on the winds speed.

V4 19m² versus V3 17m²

If we compare a V3 STRUTLESS 17m² and V4 STRUTLESS 19m² (which I’ve done many times with my size), I can tell you they will take-off roughly at the same time but the 19m² V4 will go faster, catch a lot of more wind, carry more in jumps and further. If you don’t ride crosswind, the 19 V4 will hold very far, and a lot more than the 17 V3 as it will move further in the window and when bearing off it will bear off even more.

However the V4 in a large size its wind speed rendition is like a foil kite with a high ratio. If you want torque you should look into the new Unik.”
