FORUM : feedback on new 2018 9'0 Zero SP PRO !!!

“Hello,
Yesterday, I had the perfect test wave for Zero SP. Perhaps too perfect and I have doubt to test Zero or Curve SP (line up too far to test both, external reef).
Light off shore wind, swell 80/120 cm with some set almost 2 meters, perfect (too perfect) left on the rocks, 3°, rainy.
I have no words to describe the board. I know, often I talk about the amazing Patrice’s masterpieces, but new Zero is an emotional experience because it is impossibile to believe: a longboard can’t turns so well as Zero, really, impossible.
On tail the board seems a short, tight turns and extreme attitude to change radius at low pressure of rear foot. If your rear foot isn’t exatly on tail pad.. no fear, the board turns well as a normal competition lonboard. Take off is unbelievable: easy and fast. You catch the wave when is almost flat yet. Roundhouse is magic: turns on butter until the peek and, as a wild cat, instantly you can turn and accellerate to turn at 1000 km/h. Fast, fast, fast.. perhaps too much :D.
The biggest wave of yesterday (around 2 mt) isn’t a problem for Zero…. Nose never touch and no “nose rocker” problem (as “old” Caribou Zero, but I don’t have the actual, low, skill when I had Caribou Zero). Stable and fast in paddling and in waiting period (even if yesterday was flat).
The wave was too good to turn and turn and turn to test the noseriding :D.. I’m not a real longboarder. Zero, but is only a first impression, seems less power on nose than my Freak XTR 2014. Perhaps the smaller tail has less grip on waveface. Freak XTR seems easier on nose. I have to test better.
I don’t know what I can say: really I’m stoked. I’m very very happy.
I love shortSUP, and I use a longSUP only when the waves aren’t good (too small or too mushy). I think Zero is out from this concept of longboard sup.. is amazing and faster and turns soooooo well. Tech: the feeling of new tech is really nice.Under feet seems really a normal surf.. you haven’t the feeling of a hard board (as a windsurf for those who know). Sandwich pvc only in 2/3 of deck seems the right compromise to have the right response and to preserve the extraordinary surf feeling. Yesterday I tested the board with centrale Harley Ingleby 5.5 and a couple of 11.2 cm front fins. Seems perfect.. The next test will be with 10 cm front. Central fins seems really really good.
