FEEDBACK: WING NEUTRA 4M²

After having sailed exclusively with rigid booms, Médéric shares his feelings with us about the inflatable boom of his new Neutra 4m².

“I tested my new Neutra 4m². I admit that my other wings are from another brand with a rigid boom … No one is perfect but on the other hand for what I have under my feet it is 100% GONG with the HIPE 5’1 and the Curve L or XL depending on the wind.

I have a feeling of rigidity when I discover the inflatable boom with the handles. I had noticed on videos of L’Ours the use of the index finger to press on the central strut to stabilize the wing. Well when we go from the rigid boom to the handles, we put the index finger.

A watchword: stability

The wing is super stable, it’s really a success. It doesn’t flap when you let go and turn around like my other wings do.

The Neutra has good power to take off. There is a kind of elasticity with the boom which is interesting for pumping (versus a rigid boom). It is super manoeuvrable in maneuvers, certainly with stability as a bonus.

Finally, it handles the gusts really well. The only downside: the visibility in sailing compared to my wings with a rigid boom because the central strut obstructs the windows. So yes we can lift the wing to see, but well, for visibility it is a little worse. I even had the idea for a moment of transforming it into a rigid boom wing… but what’s the point in the end, it’s really great as it is! Thanks to the GONG team for this toy !! ”
