Detailed feedback from Lalo on the glide of the NFA 10’0 XS and its handling.

“This board is a little gem for those who like 10 foot gliding machines…”

“The shape is magnificent with pure and harmonious lines. It’s a modern longboard shape!

The dimensions, 10 feet in length, a reduced width of 28 13/16 (73.2 cm) and 130 liters in volume. I like these dimensions, because 10 foot boards are often closer to 30/31 or even 32 and 140/150 liters.

Here we have a real performance-oriented shape with the unequaled glide of 10 feet in length. The hull has a spoon at the front to make crazy nose rides and above all a well-designed width that remains smooth at the bottom of the wave despite a slightly steep turn.

The shape with its slightly extended maximum width allows you to have a super healthy board to bottom turn when the speed is there, you have the length of the rails to hold on to! Its sexy little tail allows you to turn radically for a 10 footer.

A good spoon for the noses, a concave to accelerate ending in a double concave with vee offer a hull that allows easy but nevertheless radical longboard surfing if you want to push the board to its limits.

Top-of-the-range FSP PRO construction, i.e. a PVC Carbon sandwich, a technology that allows the best weight/dynamism/solidity ratio! FCS carry handle with decompression valve, a comfortable 5mm pad.

On the water… that’s where it gets fun!

I’ve been able to try the board over a dozen sessions already, from 30cm on shore to 1.5m offshore. I hadn’t surfed a 10 feet board in almost a year and yet it’s a ride that I love.

The board is stable and the row effect is not very present. This allows you to row quickly on the body of water to pass the whitewater and to move quickly on the spot to catch the sets that shift. This glide and this speed allows you to drop from far, very far … and all that makes you really take everything you want on the spot. That’s why you have to be vigilant and not take it all… Leave waves to others too, to keep a good atmosphere on the water.

When you drop from that far on the wave you can engage in long bottom turns at full speed and on the rail, because yes this 10 footer really rides on the rail when you place it in the right place.

And that’s where the magic of the 10-footer operates: what a pleasure to carve full speed on such a length of rail!

The take off is easy, fast, early and very healthy.

By getting a little closer we realize that with its rocker it is able to leave even quite late without any worries. In the wave, the board surfs on the rail and allows you to make long turns or break the trajectory at any time to seek more verticality. The noses are intuitive thanks to this very buoyant hull and nose with no unpleasant surprises.

I surfed the board with a center fin, I love the 5”5 Harley Hingleby with two FCS II Carver Neo Glass Eco Side Fins in size M and that’s how I prefer it. The relationship between nose hold and maneuverability is perfect for me (my weight is 89 kg). I tried with the same side fins with a central FCS II Connect PG Navy in 6 and I liked it less. But I never liked the big central fin on a longboard either…

In more hollow and fast waves the board accelerates really hard and it is possible to go and hit the lip to go down while having the impression of flying with the foam to land gently at the bottom. I love this inertia of the big boards. This inertia makes it possible to pass flat sections to reconnect the reform.

The length of ride possible with this kind of board is just mind-blowing!

You start from the bottom, you carve, you make noses and when it softens it keeps speed to catch the more hollow reform on which you will send solid turns. We go back to the source of SUP … glide, glide, nothing but glide…”
