The cons of Wing

The main defect of the Wing is its fragility. All manufacturers use lightweight materials, derived from the kite, to make the Wing fly as soon as possible, avoiding you to wear it.

The downside: it does not have the solidity of a windsurfing gear because, in this case, its weight would be tripled.

We must, therefore, be careful and keep a small repair budget. Hiccups are inevitable when the foil falls into the wing but are fairly simple to stitch up. We have all spare parts and fabric colors at your disposal.

The other defect of the Wing is the passage of the waves. Being fragile, you should never drop it in the waves. The risk of getting it crushed is real. Spots with waves on the edge are therefore to be avoided. But there surely is a launching access a little further on.

The depth of the foil is the last unpleasant subject. On some spots you will have to walk a little bit to find the necessary depth for the passage of the foil.

And be careful not to hit any shallow water. You would risk breaking everything.

  Key points:

– The fragility because a wing must be light.

– The passage of the waves which is complicated.

– Launching which requires depth.
