He’s a champion in the making on the world scene and he now joins the GONG team : welcome Bastien Escofet !

The double European champion in Surf-Freestyle and Surf-Slalom signed with GONG with the ambition of finishing the year on the podium in Surf-Freestyle and becoming world champion in Surf-Slalom. Bastien is currently on his way to achieve this huge objective as he’s leading the world rankings in Freefly-Slalom, which replaces the Surf-Slalom category this year, and sits in 4th place in the Surf-Freestyle rankings. The native of Narbonne is ultra motivated and is a stand out at each event with innovative and committed tricks in Surf-Freestyle and solid performances in Freefly-Slalom where he was on fire right out of the gates with a final victory on the first event of the season New Zealand !

Wing foiler: Bastien, GONG team rider, with the Droid UPE mounted with a Boom, a Lethal FSP Pro, 85HM Mast, Front Wing Ypra S and Stab Freestyle.

At only 24 years of age, Bastien already enjoys nearly 20 years of experience in boardsports. He discovered windsurfing when he was only 5, next door to his home on the spot of Port Mahon, between the famous spots of Gruissan and Leucate. However, it was at the other end of the world that he took up winging almost 3 seasons ago, seasoned by the selective conditions of the spots on the Australian west coast that are Gnaraloo and Margaret River, where he had established his base camp.

Bastien is now back in France and joins the GONG team with sporting ambitions that match his immense talent. He trains daily with the other members of the team based in the region, in particular Malo Guénolé, Max Robinson, Julien Rattotti and Clément Hamon, where they receive daily high-level physical coaching and training on the water.

Bastien also plays a key role within our R&D division since he takes the head of the foil / fin business unit, to pilot the development of our gear in close collaboration with Patrice Guénolé and all the team, with his sharp feedback and his technical knowledge of the products. Follow Bastien on his new GONG quiver, with exclusively production gear, at the event at Gran Canaria which begins on July 11!
