The easy and solid board for race/cruising and fitness.

Introduction

The Sherpa FSP 2X  is our cruising/fitness board, and also racing board.

The range is composed of 4 shapes for all sizes in the different programs.

The 10’6 and 12’6 x 30 are ideal companions for cruising. They are voluminous, stable, very easy to access and have very good glide qualities.

The 12’6 x 27 is a more racy shape. The reduced width allows performances that are very close to full Carbon Race Boards thanks to the dynamism of the FSP 2X technology. It is a perfect Board for training, fitness, which stands out from the competition under the feet of the most experienced who will appreciate its very solid top-of-the-range construction.

The 14’0 x 26 is designed for long rides and long-distance competitions. Its main feature is a high average speed, easy to maintain. This is essential when it comes to rowing for long hours on mythical events. But it’s also great on a nice outing with friends.  In short: it is the board that everyone can use to go cruising and take part in amateur competitions.

Shape
Nose

The Sherpa’s nose is narrow with a marked bow for maximum glide in choppy water and on the flat. Its thickness allows you to keep the pace and helps in relaunches.

Tail

The diamond is thick for a surfboard, but thin for a race board. It offers the best compromise to keep a “surf” drive with a real hold of the rail and a progressive rail to rail. And it retains the volume needed to accelerate and paddle hard.

Rocker

This racing rocker took a few influences from the NFA to better fit the curves of waves and bumps and fit naturally into the curves. Fast and manoeuvrable, that’s its whole program.

Hull

The hull is worked with a marked bow at the nose then a belly-Vee which dampens the contacts for more comfort and more glide. In the center we find a flat hull with a wide channel that tunnels the water for more stability and acceleration. This shape extends to the tail where a Vee helps to release water, aided by the important channels on the tail.

The beam is centered high. A classic positioning that brings versatility to this shape by leaving it with a thin nose and sharper curves on the rear for more maneuverability.

Rails

The rails are round in front and harder from the beam for stability.

The volume is mainly on the front to find the necessary support for an efficient paddling.

The deck plan is lowered in the rear two-thirds to be more in the board. We get a lower center of gravity, therefore stability. You feel more in control, and the deck is flat to accentuate that feeling.

FSP 2X SUP Technology

These boards feature our innovative, high-end FSP 2X technology for the best weight/strength/performance ratio on the market. Quite simply, it's the ultimate in custom vacuum-packed fiberglass sandwich technology, in series...

  • 3D shape on modeling software.
  • Preshape by numerical control for total reliability.
  • Shape control by traditional templates, finishing off the last mm 100% by hand.
  • 100 % epoxy resin and EPS foam blank: solid and lightweight.
  • Deck, hull, and rails in vacuumed PVC sandwich: incomparable solidity and incredible dynamism.
  • Deck: full PVC/fiberglass sandwich composed of a high-density PVC foam core and 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz biaxial fiberglass, fiberglass reinforcements on the sensitive areas.
  • Hull: full PVC/fiberglass sandwich composed of a high-density PVC foam core and 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz biaxial fiberglass, fiberglass reinforcements on the sensitive areas.
  • Rails: the PVC sandwich structure completely covers the rails: increased structural strength, very good impact resistance (paddle hits).
  • Integrated carrying handle in the top PVC Sandwich : limits settling, avoids breakage in the surrounding area.
  • Resin tinted hot coat : nobility of the process, weight saving and solidity of the finish.
  • Hand-made matt “custom finish” for weight saving and a better glide.

Buying guide

For whom?

Cruising and nature enthusiasts obviously.

No need to be in great shape, you just need to take a comfortable width.

The rowing technique is simple, a beginner can easily get started with a Sherpa.

What is it for?

Cruising, fitness, discovering spots and even a bit of surfing in the long undulations that arise.

An energetic person will line up for amateur competitions without blushing because the potential for serious gliding is there.

What size?

  • The 10’6 is great for its handling on land as well as on the water. It’s the uncomplicated Sherpa.
  • The 12’6 x 27″ has a racing feel to it, so it’s for you if you like racing or a board with this type of dynamism.
  • The 12’6 x 30″ is the absolute easyrider: super easy, fast, soft, lots of buoyancy.
  • The 14′ is the ultimate board for long rides, DW and amateur racing.

Which quiver partners?

The Sherpa fits in any quiver, as long as you like to paddle.

As your only board it will really satisfy your desire for escape.

Coupled with a surfboard, it’s the assurance of being on the water 365 days a year. The choice is up to you.

It’s also the ideal board for a surfer who wants to keep in shape on flat days. What could be better than going rowing in the middle of nature just a stone’s throw from home. Combined with a good skateboarding session, it’s the best.

What fin set-up?

The single US set-up allows for all the drifts of the market. The choice is infinite but will be cosmetic for 80%.

Yes, some touring / race fin shapes make a real difference compared to low end fins, but that’s not a game changer on a cruising program.

How long should my paddle be?

Between + 15cm and + 20cm for cruising. A little shorter in race.

Which leash?

Use a Coiled Race Leash, 10′ will do. A reduced diameter (6mm) will give you a lot of speed. Above a wind force and a wave size, you must have a 7mm minimum.

Check its condition before each session and change it every year. This is your lifejacket.

Equipments

The Sherpa FSP 2X are equipped with our premium 5mm thick pad for maximum grip and comfort.

The “full grip” carrying handle is designed for large boards. You can really grab it with your full hand to manipulate the board on the ground. It also allows you to pull the board out of the water with one hand, which is handy!

In addition, we set these boards up with an adjustable US box. The highest standard of fin box on the market. You can therefore mount your single fin according to your desires and your style of paddling by accessing an almost endless catalog of high-end fins.

The pressure relief screw is automatic. It is made up of a waterproof membrane that allows air to pass through. It will handle the common variations in pressure between the outside and the inside of your board. The durability gain is considerable, without you having to worry about it.

A net at the front and another at the back allow you to carry gear or a snack.

And with a leash plug at the front and 2 others at the back, you can secure yourself wherever you prefer for your paddling comfort. These leash plugs are indestructible as they’re glued into the high density PVC sandwich of the deck. The guarantee of not losing your board in the rocks for example, nor of seeing water seep through the plug because the PVC is waterproof.

To summarize the features of the Sherpa

  • 1 central GONG Race fin 9,5″/240mm (for US-box)
  • 1 central US box which allows all types of fins to be mounted including FCS II central fins for tool-free assembly.
  • 5 mm pad: deck cover designed for great comfort and absolute grip.
  • Bungee cord with double cross brace and 6 nose bridges allowing the secure transport of a waterproof bag and the setting of a paddle.
  • 2 leash plugs Concrete Fixed at the back and another in front of the feet to never lose your board.
  • Specific carrying handle for handling the board flat and thus avoiding placing the board on the rails.
  • Automatic vent screw. (LINK TO THE HOW TO)
