The ultimate cruiser: the perfect mix of surfing, cruising, and downwinds.

Presentation

The Perv FSP 2X is the exact compromise 50% surfing and 50% cruising.

The idea is to paddle on a board with a conventional feel: not that of an unstable race board. And if you come across a wave: the Perv turns into a Surfboard that glides super well and can connect the long curves.

When cruising, it is smooth, stable and fast. Cutting through the chop is done in total comfort with its V-shaped hull under the nose. The cruising speed is high, without too much effort, not very far behind that of Race boards. It is accessible to beginners with great rowing comfort and a remarkable glide.

In surfing, it can take waves from very far away because the paddling is fast. We have inertia but the board is easy to handle. A good surfer can really make it do nice curves with power.

In downwind, its tail transforms the slightest bump into a launch pad and allows for a crazy slide without the feeling of surfing on a barrel like on race boards.

Note: its hollowed deck allows the center of gravity to be lowered for greater rowing stability on rough water. The feeling is better, we row more in the board. In surfing you get closer to the hull and the connection with the wave is more direct.

We offer the Perv FSP 2X in 3 sizes: 10’6, 12’6 and 14’0 to suit all builds.

Shape
Nose

The Perv’s nose is thin for maximum glide in choppy and downwind conditions. It is both narrow and thin, which greatly lightens the board. It’s obvious in surfing where the Perv approaches shorter board behaviors. And it’s really nice in the bumps to put the board in the right place.

Tail

The diamond is thick for a surfboard, but thin for a race board. It offers the best compromise to keep a “surf” drive with a real focus on the rail and a progressive rail to rail. And it retains the volume needed to accelerate and row hard.

Rocker

This pure race rocker took a few influences from the NFA to better fit the curves of waves and bumps and fit naturally into the curves. Fast and manoeuvrable, that’s his whole program.

Hull

The hull is worked with a Vee belly nose which dampens the contacts for more comfort and more glide. In the center, there is a flat hull for speed and surfing. And at the tail we have a real double concave surf hull in Vee to combine grip in the curves and tilting from one rail to another.

The wide-point is centered high. A classic positioning that brings versatility to this shape by leaving it with a thin nose and sharper curves on the rear for more maneuverability.

Rails

The rails are very soft at the front and clearly typed surf from the beam. Obviously the overall thickness makes the rails more generous than on a 100% surf board, but we take all the elements to optimize its behavior when taking angles.

The volume is delicately distributed with a dominant part just in front of the paddling feet to keep a surfable tail and distribute the liters exactly where you need them.

The deck plan is lowered in the rear two-thirds to be more in the board. We get a lower center of gravity, therefore stability. You feel more in control, and the deck is flat to accentuate that feeling.

FSP 2X SUP Technology

These boards feature our innovative, high-end FSP 2X technology for the best weight/strength/performance ratio on the market. Quite simply, it's the ultimate in custom vacuum-packed fiberglass sandwich technology, in series...

  • 3D shape on modeling software.
  • Preshape by numerical control for total reliability.
  • Shape control by traditional templates, finishing off the last mm 100% by hand.
  • 100 % epoxy resin and EPS foam blank: solid and lightweight.
  • Deck, hull, and rails in vacuumed PVC sandwich: incomparable solidity and incredible dynamism.
  • Deck: full PVC/fiberglass sandwich composed of a high-density PVC foam core and 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz biaxial fiberglass, fiberglass reinforcements on the sensitive areas.
  • Hull: full PVC/fiberglass sandwich composed of a high-density PVC foam core and 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz biaxial fiberglass, fiberglass reinforcements on the sensitive areas.
  • Rails: the PVC sandwich structure completely covers the rails: increased structural strength, very good impact resistance (paddle hits).
  • Integrated carrying handle in the top PVC Sandwich : limits settling, avoids breakage in the surrounding area.
  • Resin tinted hot coat : nobility of the process, weight saving and solidity of the finish.
  • Hand-made matt “custom finish” for weight saving and a better glide.

Buying guide

For whom?

Accessible to all levels, it is however technical in surfing due to its length. Surfing straight up to the beach is child’s play in small waves. But we must not forget that handling a board of this length in big waves is technical.

The strolls and the downwinds are fun for everyone, from beginners to champions. The Perv is super cool to row and in the bumps.

What is it for?

The concept of the Perv is to go for a stroll and surf whatever you come across: bumps, waves, and other wakes.

Therefore we have a board that brings together the world of Racing and the world of Surfing for a perfect mix.

With the Perv, we do not miss out on any pleasure we can have on a SUP.

What size?

The 10’6 is a compact version that will work very well in waves.

The 12’6 is the standard in the range, with the best cruising / DW / surf compromise.

The 14’ is clearly geared towards long distances and long melloooow waves.

Which quiver partners?

With the Perv you have the best tool for small conditions when you like paddling and sliding on small waves.

A foil, surf or SUP, would be an overlap, but the variety of sensations is also a real pleasure.

The opposite of a Perv in SUP would be an Alley or a Fatal. Hyper dynamic boards that you have to constantly push to their limits and yours.

A good idea for a quiver is Perv + NFA + Karmen. There we have versatile boards that cover absolutely all desires.

It’s also the perfect board in the quiver of a surfer who wants a SUP to complete his surfboards in micro waves and stroll around.

What fin set-up?

For the cruising, the single set-up is the reference. Fins come in all shapes and sizes but remember that 9’’ glides well and 10’’ goes super straight.

The US single fin set-up makes it possible to put all the fins on the market.

Yes, some touring / race fin shapes make a real difference compared to low end fins, but that’s not a game changer on a cruising program. We can have fun on a nice race fin when cruising, but that will not fundamentally change the behavior of the board.

For surfing, the best fin set-up is 2 + 1, even if the single works very well.

1 / As a single, a 9″ to 11″ central fin will give you a lot of glide and confidence.

2 / In 2 + 1, a 8″ to 9″ central fin and small longboard side fins: maximum maneuverability and acceleration in the wave. A very strong guy can go up to 10 ’’ if he wants more stability.

the front of the base of the central fin will be set 2cm behind the rear tip of the side fins. The setting offers the best handling. For more control, simply move the center fin 2cm by 2cm or take a center fin one inch deeper.

Note that before the shape, it is the material of the fins that makes the performance. Remember that the stiffer the fins, the better it works. Yes, a pro needs good fins, but an amateur also needs to go fast because speed is the basis of all maneuvers.

Never take shorter, unless you’re as light and precise as a cat.

In a setup that mixes sets, consider that the total surface area of your fins should always be the same. If you lengthen the center fin, you have to reduce the side fins. These provide grip and acceleration; and the center fin does the pivot and the drive.

How long should my paddle be?

Between + 15cm and + 20cm for cruising. A little shorter in race or surfing.

Which leash?

In cruising:

Use a Coiled Race Leash, 10′ is great.

In surfing:

Use a 10′ for the 10’6 and the 12’6, and use a 12’ for the 14’. The board is heavy and will get pulled hard in waves, so you need to have 7mm in diameter minimum.

Check its condition before each session and change it every year. This is your lifejacket.

Equipments

Les Perv FSP 2X are equipped with our premium 5mm thick pad for maximum grip and comfort.

The “full grip” carrying handle is designed for large boards. You can really grab it with your full hand to manipulate the board on the ground. It also allows you to pull the board out of the water with one hand, which is handy!

In addition, we set these boards up with an adjustable US box and 2 FCSII boxes. The anchoring is firm and therefore the most efficient and solid. It is simply the highest standard of fin box on the market. You can therefore set up your fins in 2+1 or trifin according to your desires and your surfing style by accessing an almost endless catalog of top-of-the-range fins.

To summarize the features of the Perv

The pressure relief screw is automatic. It is made up of a waterproof membrane that allows air to pass through. It will handle the common variations in pressure between the outside and the inside of your board. The durability gain is considerable, without you having to worry about it.

The leash plug is indestructible as it is glued into the high density PVC sandwich of the deck. The guarantee of not losing your board in the rocks for example, nor of seeing water seep through the plug because the PVC is waterproof.

A net at the front allows you to carry gear or a snack.

  • 1 central GONG Race fin 9,5″ (for US-box) / 240mm and 2 FCS II Carver Glass Flex S/100mm side fines for 2+1 montage.
  • 1 central US-box, 2 side boxes FCSII.
  • 5 mm pad: deck cover designed for great comfort and absolute grip.
  • Leash plug Concrete Fixed at the tail to never lose your board.
  • Specific carrying handle for handling the board flat and thus avoiding placing the board on the rails.
  • Automatic vent screw. (LINK TO THE HOW TO)
