The first impression is often the right one but Nicolas still waited 8 sessions to share his feedback on the HM 85cm mast on our Facebook page ;). Here are his conclusions.

“Hello to the Team, for once I’ve given myself some time before sharing my feelings about this new HM mast that I’ve had for about ten days. I didn’t want to post just 3 lines telling you “wahouuuuu it’s great, I love it… Heat up the credit card for Christmas!”
“So I will start my feedback after about 8 sessions with “WAHOUUUUUU IT’S GREAT!!!!”
I’ll elaborate a bit though ;). Let’s start with what am I comparing. Having had all the possible versions underfoot in 85 cm: Alu V2 mast, then the Monobloc 85, then the Carbon Mast V2 85… Personally, I had found a real gain to the glide of Carbon V2 vs Alu, and even if the carbon was a bit less rigid than the aluminum mast, I had gained a lot in glide, speed and precision. The transition to the HM comes with the best of both worlds, ultra rigid and incredible glide.
For riders with weight like me, if I came in hard on a tack or a jump, it sometimes felt a little shaky. Nothing major but enough to put me off or completely misstime a jump. What becomes remarkable with the HM is that nothing moves and therefore. All moves are perfectly replicable. We always rely on precise support with zero imbalance on this mast.
In my sessions it especially translates to a higher success rate in tricks. I gain amplitude on all the jumps, because I have no fear to go full on with this mast. It’s so precise. Zero surprises or parasitic movements involved. In the 360’s in the air, my success rate doubled in a few sessions!
Which brings me to the conclusion of my test “WAHOUUUUUU IT’S GREAT!!!!” Make sure it’s part of Santa’s hood this year!
Big up to Patrice Guénolé and the whole GONG team…”
