GAINING SPEED

As in many glide sports, speed is the key to pass more easily through maneuvers just as in wing foiling. Whether you are jumping or performing transitions, speed is the key to getting out of your maneuvers in flight. And between us, there’s nothing better than taking the speed to the max and increase the feeling and the adrenaline.

Gaining speed

To gain speed, nothing could be simpler. First of all, you’ll have to bear away a little, tense up your body, and sheet your wing in by pulling on your back hand, ideally placed on the “full power” handle, or even the “mega boost” handle for larger wings.

This power will take your wing to the front and pull your body forward. This is why you should gradually lean your body backwards to balance. At the same time, you will experience pressure on your feet due to the forces transmitted from the wing to the board, so you will have to bend your legs slightly.  This energy will be released and you will accelerate. Note that you will have to bend your knees to keep control.

If you are still maxing out the speed limit, it may be a good idea to think about changing your equipment. You can either change your wing or change the configuration of your foil.
