Boris took the lowkite Plus out for its very first spin and shared his experience with us on the GONG Galaxy group.

Foiler: Mathieu, GONG team rider, with a Cruzader Diamond and Plus lowkite.

First flat water session

“Quick thoughts after 4 short hours playing with this new toy.

I’m a 51-year-old rider, 1.76m, 74 kg, comfortable on a wingfoil, supfoil, and surfoil — but I’ve never done any kite before.

I checked out Patrice Guénolé’s videos before handling the lowkite on the beach.

Setup: Cruzader Point 5'6, HM77 mast, Fluid H XL and XL stab.

It was flat water for this first session… takes a bit of technique to take off, but once you're up, it’s all smooth and intuitive.

At first, I kept watching the lowkite while standing up, worried it might fall into the water — but it quickly fades into the background. It just balances itself.

One side was trickier to take off than the other… but that’s to be expected.”

Upwind riding and freefly

“The upwind ability is wild — I found my groove for the turns pretty quickly.

Sure, the lines sometimes loop in the water, but I’m getting better at fixing that with each session.

Still need to improve my wing fold, but when it’s all packed tight and I’m flying downwind, it’s just pure joy.

Progress comes fast and the fun is real.

A little tip: stick to the proper wind range for the lowkite — if you’re overpowered, things get spicy fast. My forearms are toast, so I’ll be moving to a harness soon.
