GONG | SUP Inflatable 14'0 Couine Marie Race Flat Water
Shape
Designed for racing

This shape is made for gliding. Its sleek lines are designed to promote paddling speed. It is a clever adaptation of the thousands of templates that we have developed over the past 30 years that allows us to have such efficient and facilitating behavior.

In racing, we appreciate its glide specific to inflatable boards, very fluid, which is boosted by its narrow outline, especially at the tail. Its almost constant rocker and narrow width allow for maximum speed. Thanks to its sufficiently large volume and a little width in front of the toes, we have the stability necessary for an effective paddling in phases of relaunch or instability.

If you want to pick up the pace, its streamlined shape will accelerate without ease. In terms of maneuverability, winding a buoy with its narrow tail is technical but so efficient.

Surfing the swell in downwinds or the waves breaking at the beach are not its favorite disciplines but its natural glide will make it go surfing within a few paddle strokes. The thin tail is helped by the semi-rigid edge rail for better control and direction.

In more difficult conditions, its point nose allows you to go through the choppy water serenely.

For every size, volume is important, but this is not the board for your debut in racing. This is the racing shape to perform!

Rocker: almost constant and low. Maximum speed.

Rails: by nature, soft and round all along, which provides a very efficient glide. Rigid rail and straight at the tail for a better exit of water.

Volume: thickness is important for relaunch. It offers a generous volume.

Outline: a thin tail to reduce drag, moderate in the center and a race nose that lifts to generate support in a dynamic paddle.

Tail: rounded tail for less drag.

Nose: point nose for rowing speed.

Doubled Layered Welded Woven Dropstitch

With its top of the range inflatable technology in Doubled Layered Welded Woven Dropstitch, this GONG board is beautiful, light, very rigid and really solid.

Manufactured in the best factory in the world, with the densest and highest quality Woven Dropstitch, we are sure that its glue composites will last for years, without leakage or deformation.

The Couine Marie are the best, yet still accessible with our direct sales distribution that does not add margins.

Inflatable COUINE MARIE Technology

Couine Marie boards
have a double thermo welded layer on the deck, hull and rails. It makes them even more rigid while still being very light.

The dropstitch used inside Couine Marie board is a Woven Dropstitch : it is the best assembly technique of the inflatable world, for best in class performance, rigidity and lightness.

  • Woven Dropstitch Double Layer Welded technology, the best compromise between weight/stiffness/strength. Combining our historical Double Layer Welded technology with the new Woven Dropstitch, this technology is by far the most reliable, lightest and stiffest.
  • Weight savings of around 20% compared to the classic Double Layer (no glue between the 2 welded PVC layers).
  • Rigidity gain of 30% compared to standard technology.
  • Strength gain: twice as thick as standard technology.
  • Double layer of PVC on the rails.
  • Triple layer central stringer on deck and hull for maximum rigidity and reduced vibration.
  • Premium Woven Dropstitch: the slightest irregularity is refused and the batch is resold to low cost factories.
  • High density Dropstitch Woven: with more threads per square meter than a basic Woven, it resists much higher pressures, lasts much longer, and does not present a risk of explosion.
  • Working pressure: 15 PSI. Our Stand Up Paddle Boards are perfectly rigid at 15 PSI. There is no need to overinflate them, but you can mount them at 20 PSI without any problem.
  • Two-year Warranty on all our Inflatable Boards.
  • We keep in stock all the elements that make up your Board because we are manufacturers. So, you can easily repair them and make them last for more than ten years. It’s as simple as repairing a bicycle wheel.

Buying guide

For whom?

The shape of this Board makes it ideal for experienced or sporty rowers. Nothing insurmountable because the width is reasonable and the outline gives a little margin in front of the feet to attack each stroke of the paddle without restraint.

However, we don’t recommend it if you are a beginner.

For what?

Its program is to glide as well as possible, without becoming a crazy balancing act. It is therefore ideal on calm bodies of water.

Rowing fast, training, high tempo cruising, racing… That’s what this board likes.

What size of Couine Marie Race 14’0 Flat Water board?

Even if everything is possible, we note here the main uses:

The 12’6 x 27” Race FW:

  • Outings of less than an hour and a half on calm water.
  • Downwind: will be diffcult.
  • Rider size: less than 85kg ideally but it doesn’t matter as long as your level allows you to manage this width.

The 12’6 x 29” Race FW:

  • Outings of less than an hour and a half on calm water.
  • Downwind: it’s possible.
  • Rider size: less than 100kg ideally but it doesn’t matter as long as your level allows you to handle this technical size.

The 14’0 x 27” Race FW:

  • Outings of more than one hour on calm water.
  • Downwind: it’s sporty.
  • Rider size: as long as your level allows you to assume this shape.

The 14’0 x 29” Race FW:

  • Outings of more than one hour on calm water.
  • Downwind: it’s sporty.
  • Rider size: it doesn’t matter as long as your level allows you to assume this shape.

Understanding the GONG range ?

What is the difference between our First range and Couine Marie range ?

Best Quiver choices?

This Board goes with a Carbon Pro GONG Paddle cut to the right size, and a top of the range Fiberglass or Carbon Fin.

Think about your personal equipment for your comfort with the adapted wetsuit, water, energy bars… and therefore the bag that fits well. But think also and especially about your safety because on this subject it is better to have too much means than not enough (mirror, lights, towing end, survival blanket etc…).

What length of paddle?

The way you paddle, your stance and the frequency at which you paddle will depend on your program. You will need a longer paddle for touring for multiple hours, while you would need a shorter paddle for surfing in order to facilitate quick and strong paddle strokes to catch a wave. Take your time to pick the right length/setting for your paddle, because it will help give you the stability and performance you will need.

Examples:
For a 100% surfing session, set your paddle between your waist and +10cm.
For more relaxed surfing, a +10cm paddle will be perfect.
For a ride, set your paddle between +10 and +20cm.

Which leash?

For the Couine Marie Race Flat Water range, a 10′ leash is ideal. Depending on your preferences, you can choose an ankle or a knee leash.

Check its condition before each session and change it every year. This is your life jacket.

Good to know:

Never leave your board in the sun, let alone an inflatable board which will heat up very quickly. You risk seeing it peel off because the materials it is made of become flexible in the heat. Never store it under a car window, or in contact with a heat source.

Never let your board get roughed up in the waves, especially when you’re close to the beach. You have to protect it from major strains. A wave that takes your board and rolls it can do damage.

Do not hold it by the leash indefinitely because it can give way under very high tension. Avoid big waves and don’t resist. If it breaks, it’s easy to change but annoying.

Stay away from oysters: this is one of the few seashells that can cut your board and sink it in seconds. Be careful +++

Don’t let your inflatable board rub on something for a long time. It can happen on a boat, for example, that your board moves with each wave and rubs for hours in the same place. The material will disintegrate because it will be as sanded. You will have a hole that will need to be covered with a patch.

Never put the board between the wave and you: risk of a broken nose type injury ?

Do not paddle far at sea with an offshore wind, and avoid windy outings as it is rarely fun and always dangerous. SUP is an activity that involves real risks, even in seemingly peaceful conditions. Always anticipate these risks and protect yourself.

Equipments

Our Couine Marie range is the Full Options version of inflatable boards, the very best out there.

The Couine Marie Race Flat Water comes with a US central fin because the objective of the Couine Marie range is to have a high performance SUP. When we know that the fin makes 50% of the performance of a board, GONG had to come up with a relevant solution. This is why our inflatable SUPs offer a US box for the center fin. Thus, you will have access to the largest standard on the high-end fin market. A huge choice of fins to adapt according to your level, your practice and the conditions.

It is equipped with all the high-end accessories:

  • A new ultra-worked Velvet Traction Pad which now equips all our top-end boards;
  • A central padded handle in soft neoprene;
  • Ergonomic silicone racing carrying handles;
  • A front handle to exit the water more easily;
  • Our ELS feature for very simply and firmly attaching bags / bottles etc. to your board;
  • A fin with a quality shape and a US box compatible with all the best fins;
  • A spacious and robust wheeled bag.

It is equipped with four carrying handles to grab it easily.

  • A central padded and neoprene handle to carry the board under your arm.
  • Two ergonomic silicone race handles in the front third that allow you to either pass the foams by pulling the board, or to get out of the water by dragging the board over the water.
  • A front handle for entering the water and for handling the board in the water or on land. Really practical!

The Couine Marie SUP boards are now equipped with our ELS feature (Extendable Load System). These adjustable, elastic and aesthetic straps have been specially designed to allow you to easily install all your equipment on board.

We have made using the ELS system extremely easy and intuitive. The elastic straps are easy to adjust. No more struggle to slip (sometimes in vain) your bag under the bungee cords at the risk of crushing your stuff. Simply loosen the straps, install your gear, and retighten them to perfectly fix your load.

Our ELS feature simplifies your life and saves you precious time while bringing a touch of style and modernity to your board!

The large diameter leash ring is the strongest on the market. And we’ve added a towing ring for safety, but also because it’s really handy to have an attachment point on the nose during transport, at anchor, or to secure a camera.

The new 5 mm Traction Velvel Pad is particularly designed to be even more comfortable. Very aesthetic, it offers a perfect grip and a velvet touch! The feeling is ultra soft and you can feel the board perfectly under your feet. The board is all the more responsive. Long sessions without tiring or slipping are all yours!

The supplied double-action inflation pump is super efficient to be the first in the water.

A repair kit is also included in the event of damage (note the kit is delivered without glue which you will easily find in your DIY store). Note that we have the components of your board in stock in order to repair it fairly easily.

Everything comes in a super practical and solid rolling carry bag.

  • The wheels are on the opposite side to the carrying face so as not to pinch your buttocks when walking and not to roll on the carrying straps.
  • These backpack straps are very padded and comfortable.
  • The handles are super strong and comfy.
  • The large front pocket allows you to store your accessories and personal effects without risking losing them.
  • And the compression straps keep the bag volume to a minimum.

Nothing is missing!

Delivery

Delivery delay

We indicate a preparation and shipping time of 3 working days. In reality, the majority of orders are shipped within 24/48 hours.

The delivery time, i.e. delivery time of the package to your home, then depends on the delivery location and the carrier.

We work with reliable and efficient carriers. 99% of shipments go perfectly and quickly. In the case of the remaining 1%, rest assured that we will do what is necessary with the carrier.

Shipping fees

Unlike other sites, shipping costs are not hidden behind the price of our products. You know exactly what shipping costs you, and you are not disadvantaged if you choose to collect your order at our GONG Space Center.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address.

Tracking your package

Delivery tracking is managed directly by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your packages. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose delivery methods and follow the route of your package.

Carriers

We work with the best transport societies to deliver to you throughout Europe and the world within very short deadlines. We chose them for their quality of service and their compliance with deadlines.

For mainland France, 80% of your orders arrive at their destination in less than 48 hours of processing.

For Europe, delivery times vary from 3 to 6 working days, depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delivery times depend on transit time and customs clearance time. This delay depends on customs and can last from a few days to a few weeks depending on the destination and seasonality.

Please note, transport time is added to preparation/shipping time. Two companies collaborate on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one masters its activity and is committed to optimizing its deadlines so that you are delivered as quickly as possible and at a reasonable price.

Eco-responsible packaging

Preserving the environment is an absolute priority. This is why we do everything possible to reduce our ecological footprint.

The most important thing is to sell quality, durable products that will be repairable and will please you for a long time.

For our shipments, we use:

  • Scotch craft paper.

  • Final packaging in high-end cardboard.

  • For rigid boards: Flexi-Hex, very high resistance ecological packaging.

This means:

  • Reusable and recyclable packaging.

  • An almost total reduction in single-use plastic.

  • Maximum protection and impact resistance for rigid boards thanks to the innovative Flexi-Hex honeycomb design (35mm thick).

Receipt of your product

Upon delivery, check the condition of your package in the presence of the carrier. A complete explanation email on the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

Despite our requirements and all the care we take in the packaging and protection of your product, transport hazards may occur, and your product may suffer more or less significant transport damage.
