Cleaner flow over the suction side
In the Lower configuration, the tail wing sits beneath the Shim Tail, away from surface vortices and the front wing’s disturbed wake. With the fuselage connection completely clear on its suction side, the tail wing benefits from clean, uninterrupted flow that optimizes its efficiency.
The result: greater control, smooth, predictable glide, and a reduced risk of ventilation. An ideal configuration for downwind, pumping, freefly, and freeride.
Why choose an Upper tail wing?
The Upper version, positioned above the Shim Tail, remains a useful option for avoiding contact with the bottom. An advantage for beach starts, surf foiling, freestyle, wave riding, or shallow spots.
The best choice therefore depends on how and where you ride.
At GONG, all V3 ATMO tail wings are available in BOTH Upper and Lower versions. Choose which way to build your setup!
One V3 fuselage, two different configurations. To use a Lower tail wing, keep your usual V3 fuselage. The only requirement: combine a Tail Shaft, a Shim Tail, and a Tail Wing of the same version (Upper or Lower)
