The high-aspect carbon Tail Wing that combines glide, speed build-up and manoeuvrability for dynamic pumping, slalom pumping, downwind and lowkite.

Overview

The Hyper Trail V3 Atmo Pro Team Series Tail Wing uses the proven shape of the previous Hyper Trail V3, now integrated into the adjustable V3 Atmo system.

Its 13.0 aspect ratio significantly reduces drag. The foil keeps its energy between pumps or bumps, accelerates easily and requires less effort to maintain speed.

Despite its wide span, its surface area being heavily concentrated in the centre gives it fluid, natural rail-to-rail handling. It wraps around buoys, carves on bumps and surfs waves with a very glide-oriented feel.

Its relatively thick, low-camber profile keeps exactly the support needed at low speed to lift off, build speed and find your cadence again, without holding back acceleration.

On bump descents, it promotes the foil's self-balancing behaviour. It generates very little nose-up as speed increases, allowing the foil to naturally drop into the slope and accelerate without overloading the front leg.

Paired with Hyper Trail, Supra Trail and Ultra Trail Front Wings, it tunes the foil's efficiency and responsiveness for slalom-oriented pumping, distance or downwind.

With a Veloce Front Wing, it creates an excellent combo for lowkite, downwind and wing foiling in light wind. It unlocks glide while keeping enough support for take-offs, transitions and speed build-up.

Built in monolithic CNC-machined T700 carbon, it precisely maintains its profile and tips under load.

The reference setup with a Medium Tail Shaft and 0° Tail Shim offers the best balance of glide, liveliness, longitudinal stability and speed build-up.


Shape
ASPECT RATIO 13.0

The Hyper Trail features a high aspect ratio of 13.0 to significantly reduce induced drag and retain more energy between pumps.

The foil accelerates easily, glides for a long time, and requires less effort to maintain a fast cadence or get through a section with less lift.

This very high aspect ratio puts the Hyper Trail firmly in a high-performance pumping and downwind programme, without reaching the demanding nature of models developed exclusively for distance records.


CONCENTRATED SURFACE AREA AT THE CENTRE

The chord increases significantly towards the centre to concentrate most of the surface area at the heart of the Tail Wing.

This zone creates solid support and a very clear pivot point despite the wide span. The foil rolls naturally from one rail to the other and stays easy to set into a carve.

The Hyper Trail therefore retains the glide qualities of a very high aspect ratio foil, with remarkable manoeuvrability for rounding buoys, carving on bumps or surfing waves.



THICK, LOW-CAMBER PROFILE

The relatively thick profile provides the hydrodynamic stiffness needed for a very high-aspect Tail Wing.

Its low camber limits nose-up as speed increases. The aircraft stays free, accelerates without excessive front foot pressure, and naturally drops into the bumps on the way down.

The profile still retains enough support at low speed to make take-offs, speed build-up and cadence recovery more secure.


VERY SLENDER OUTLINE

The highly elongated outline through the tips reduces induced drag and maximises glide.

The fine tips free up yaw and smooth out line corrections, while the central surface keeps the control needed in slower phases.

This distribution lets you hold long lines without locking the foil into carves or changes of direction.



VERY LOW DIHEDRAL

The very low dihedral keeps a geometry close to that of a flat wing to maximise performance and efficiency all the way out to the tips.

It limits unnecessary flow deviations and directly contributes to the foil's energy retention.

Its reduced amplitude avoids locking the foil in yaw and maintains smooth line changes despite the significant span.



UPPER ARCHITECTURE

The Hyper Trail has been developed exclusively around an Upper architecture. It works with a Carbon Tail and its matching shim, or with an Upper Tail Shaft paired with an Upper Tail Shim.

The benchmark setup with a Medium Tail Shaft and 0° Tail Shim balances longitudinal stability, responsiveness, glide and speed build-up.

A Short Tail Shaft makes the foil more reactive and tightens up the carves. A Long brings more stability and smoother handling for long runs.


A fully customizable Foil

The Tail Wing is only one part of your foil's overall behavior. With the V3 Atmo system, you can also choose your Tail Shaft length and Tail Shim angle of incidence to achieve a setup perfectly matched to your skill level, riding style, and discipline.

The Tail Shaft primarily influences the foil's dynamic behavior. A Short model makes the foil more responsive and reduces turning radius. The Medium version delivers the reference balance. The Long version provides greater longitudinal stability, smooths pitch movements, and makes long, flowing lines easier to maintain.

The Tail Shim then allows you to fine-tune the foil's longitudinal balance. It adjusts front-foot pressure, pitch attitude, takeoff ease, pumping cadence, and the foil's overall character, without changing the intrinsic characteristics of your Tail Wing.

The recommended setup for each Tail Wing is always the best place to start. It delivers exactly the behavior intended by the designer. From this baseline, you can progressively tune your foil to your own preferences by changing only one parameter at a time.

This modular system naturally evolves with your progression. The same Tail Wing can continue to meet your needs for many seasons simply by combining different Tail Shaft lengths and Tail Shim angles.

You're not simply choosing a Tail Wing, you're choosing a tuning platform that allows your foil to evolve with your riding, delivering a setup tailored with precision to the way you ride.

A Platform that evolves with you

At GONG, a new generation of products doesn't make your existing equipment obsolete. Our priority is to improve performance while protecting your investment.

All V3 Atmo Tail Wings share a standard mounting interface that defines their reference angle of incidence. This allows them to be installed on both the new V3 Atmo Tail Shims and the previous compatible V3 shims, without requiring you to replace your entire rear foil assembly.

This continuity also means that the same Tail Wing can be used with either a V3 or Micro V3 Atmo fuselage. Simply select the Tail Shaft and Tail Shim designed for your fuselage diameter. You can upgrade your platform progressively, without rebuilding your entire quiver every time a new innovation is introduced.

This compatibility is at the heart of our development philosophy. Every new generation delivers greater performance, finer tuning possibilities, and increased precision, while remaining designed to preserve as much of your existing equipment as possible.

V3 Atmo, a new era

The V3 Atmo range marks a major leap forward in the design, manufacturing, and finishing of our foils. Reaching this new level of performance required far more than evolving the shapes. We rethought the entire process, from R&D to the finished product.


Every V3 Atmo shape is designed in 3D, digitally optimized, thoroughly tested by the GONG Team, and manufactured with an unprecedented level of precision. Profiles, thickness distribution, transitions, fillets, connection areas, and trailing edges have all been refined to reduce parasitic drag, improve water flow, and maximize efficiency.


Our new production facility enables manufacturing in an ultra-clean, highly controlled environment with a level of precision approaching that of the world's leading aerospace, motorsport, and high-performance composite industries. Optimized extraction of solvents and dust creates better working conditions while ensuring cleaner parts throughout every stage of production.


Tighter control over every step, from material handling, layup, machining, and molding to cooling and finishing, delivers an unprecedented level of accuracy, particularly on the trailing edges. This controlled refinement minimizes hydrodynamic disturbances, reduces noise, improves glide, and contributes to the overall performance gains of the V3 Atmo range.


But the real breakthrough isn't just producing a beautiful part, it's producing the same beautiful part every time. In foiling, even a few tenths of a millimeter can affect ventilation, stall behavior, noise, speed, and stability.

Who is it for? 

The Hyper Trail V3 Atmo Pro Team Series Tail Wing is aimed at advanced to expert riders who want to significantly increase their foil’s glide and speed without giving up manoeuvrability.

It suits pumping riders who already have their cadence dialled in and are looking for stronger acceleration, crisp speed build-up and better efficiency.

It also speaks to downwind enthusiasts who want a gliding foil, with little front foot pressure and enough manoeuvrability to carve on the bumps.

Paired with a Veloce Front Wing, it makes an excellent option for lowkite and wing foiling in light wind for riders looking for a fast, fluid foil with very little drag.

What for?

The Hyper Trail is developed for dynamic pumping, competitive pumping slalom and downwind.

For endurance pumping, it preserves a lot of energy between impulses and helps maintain a fast cadence with less drag.

In pumping slalom, its centred surface area provides a very clear pivot point for wrapping around buoys and building speed again immediately.

In downwind, its low nose-up lets the foil naturally follow the drops of the bumps. The foil accelerates without requiring constant pressure through the front leg.

Paired with a Veloce Front Wing, it excels in lowkite, freefly and wing foiling in light wind, with an excellent balance of glide, manoeuvrability and minimal front foot pressure.

Avoid it if…

The Hyper Trail is not a progression Tail Wing. To build your pumping foundations with more support and forgiveness, choose a Trail.

To maximise long distances on flat water with already very clean technique, the Supra Trail will offer better efficiency.

For absolute pumping records, the Ultra Trail will go further in drag reduction, with much higher demands.

For radical surf foiling, snaps and very tight carves, choose a Ypra Surf Carve or a more compact Tail Wing.

For very high-speed downwind racing, a Veloce XTR Lower will deliver more extreme efficiency and greater stability through long accelerations.

What size?

The choice depends on the Front Wing, rider weight, programme and the level of support you are looking for.

A large Hyper Trail brings more presence at low speed, more longitudinal control and more support through take-offs and speed build-up. It does, however, generate more drag.

A smaller size frees up more speed and reduces front foot pressure. It requires better precision in slow phases and pitch variations.

For pumping and downwind, choose the smallest size you can control cleanly throughout the whole session, not only when the foil is already up to speed.

With a Veloce Front Wing in lowkite or wing foiling, keep enough surface area to secure take-offs and transitions without choking the front wing’s glide. It is often said that going two sizes above the front wing is the perfect balance in towed disciplines, while keeping a 0° shim tail.


What setup?

The Hyper Trail is offered exclusively in Upper architecture.

It can be mounted on a Carbon Tail with its matching Upper wedge, or on an Upper Tail Shaft paired with an Upper Shim Tail.

It cannot be mounted on a Lower Tail Shaft or a Lower Shim Tail.

The reference setup uses a Medium Tail Shaft and a 0° Upper Shim Tail. It offers the best balance of glide, manoeuvrability, longitudinal stability and speed build-up.

What does the 0° shim tail mean?

The 0° Shim Tail keeps the reference incidence calculated for the Hyper Trail.

It does not mean the Tail Wing is horizontal relative to the fuselage. The incidence required for the model to work is built into its carbon base.

The Shim Tail number only indicates the angle added or removed relative to that reference. The + means the shim tail raises the tail wing’s leading edge, and therefore reduces its incidence and effect: the tail wing sits flatter, delivering less front foot pressure and less lift. A negative number does the opposite: it lowers the tail wing’s nose, increases its angle relative to the front wing and generates more lift and more front foot pressure. 

So 0° is always the best starting point before adjusting front foot pressure or the

foil’s longitudinal behaviour.

Which angle should you choose?

Start with a 0° Upper Shim Tail.

A negative angle number adds more front foot pressure and more presence through take-offs and slow phases. It also increases drag and can reduce the self-balancing effect sought in accelerations.

The -0.5° can correct a combo that is slightly lacking in support. More pronounced values should answer a specific need.

The +1° reduces front foot pressure and frees up glide even more. It does, however, make take-offs, transitions and cadence recovery more demanding.

Only change one parameter at a time so you can identify its effect precisely.

What tail shaft length?

The Medium Tail Shaft is the Hyper Trail’s reference setup.

It offers the best balance of longitudinal stability, manoeuvrability, speed build-up and cadence control.

The Short Tail Shaft makes the foil more reactive, speeds up pitch response and tightens the carves. It is particularly well suited to slalom, carving turns and very precise riders.

The Long Tail Shaft stabilises pitch more and makes movements more progressive. It can be interesting for downwind or long runs, but reduces the model’s dynamic character.

A longer length does not directly increase glide. It mainly brings more stability and drive.

Which front wing?

The Hyper Trail Front Wing is the most natural pairing for dynamic pumping, slalom and carving turns on flat water.

With a Supra Trail, the Hyper Trail Tail Wing keeps the foil relatively manoeuvrable while increasing efficiency and distance.

With an Ultra Trail, it brings more presence, forgiveness and ease than a more extreme Tail Wing, at the cost of a little more drag.

With Veloce FF, LW, DW or XTR Front Wings, it creates an excellent combo for lowkite, downwind and wing foiling in light wind. It frees up the front wing while keeping the minimum support needed at low speed.

In lowkite and wing foiling

Paired with a Veloce Front Wing, the Hyper Trail delivers a foil with excellent glide, but with more presence and manoeuvrability than with a downwind Lower Tail Wing. Consider sizing the tail wing two sizes above the front wing.

Its surface area concentrated in the centre makes rail-to-rail, transitions and line changes easier despite its very high aspect ratio.

Its low-camber profile generates little nose-up in accelerations. The foil moves forward naturally, keeps its energy through lulls and remains easy to let run.

This combo is particularly well suited to lowkite, where glide, upwind ability, transitions and freedom of line are essential.

How do you progress with the settings?

Start with a Medium Tail Shaft, a 0° Shim Tail and a size that matches your Front Wing.

Test this setup enough to understand the front foot pressure, natural cadence and behaviour in slow phases.

Then only change one element at a time between Tail Wing size, Tail Shaft length, Shim Tail incidence and foil position in the boxes.

Look for a foil that keeps its energy without becoming unstable when speed drops. Drag reduction is only useful if you keep enough control to make the most of it.

Compatibility

The Hyper Trail Tail Wing is exclusively Upper.

It works with:

  • a compatible Carbon Tail and its matching Upper wedge;
  • a V3 Upper Tail Shaft and a V3 Upper Shim Tail;
  • a Micro V3 Atmo Upper Tail Shaft and a Micro V3 Atmo Upper Shim Tail.

V3 and Micro V3 Atmo Tail Shafts and Shim Tails are not interchangeable on the fuselage side.

The Tail Wing remains compatible with both diameters thanks to its standard interface. You must use the Tail Shaft and Shim Tail suited to the fuselage diameter.

It cannot be mounted on a Lower Tail Shaft, a Lower Shim Tail or a Lower wedge.



Equipments

  • The Tail Wing is supplied on its own, without mounting hardware.
  • The required screws are supplied with the Carbon Tail, wedge or Shim Tail used for the assembly.
  • Assembly on a Shim Tail Upper uses two M6 screws matched to the Tail Wing thickness.
  • The different Tail Wing thicknesses may require different screw lengths. Always use the hardware that matches the assembly in order to maintain sufficient thread engagement without bottoming out in the thread.
  • Stainless steel hardware suited to the repeated loads of foiling and marine use.
  • Simple top-mount assembly on the Tail Wing, with only two visible screws.
  • Standard GONG seat for precise, repeatable Tail Wing positioning.
  • Firm connection, rigid while foiling and easy to remove after the session.
