Our recommendations for your favorite riding styles, from freeride to strapless freestyle!

Choosing the right V3 Atmo foil depends first and foremost on your riding style. Speed, maneuverability, ease of use or jumps: each model has its own character.

Here are our recommendations.

For progressing and chill freeride sessions: Ascent V3 Atmo

If your priority is to ride with confidence without chasing excessive speed, the Ascent V3 Atmo Perf Series in size S is the most accessible choice.

Its excellent stability and very good low-end range provide the forgiveness beginner kite foilers need, while allowing more experienced riders to take off early and stay in control in all conditions.

It is the ideal foil for freeride and riders who prioritize comfort.

For beginners, we also prefer it to an X-Over, which can quickly limit the sensations you get from kite foiling.

The Fluid XS and XXS: the surf-oriented options not to overlook

Although the span of a Fluid is relatively large for kite foiling, these wings are extremely playful in freeride mode, provided you choose the smaller XS or XXS sizes.

These sizes can be excellent options, especially for riders looking for more glide than the Ascent. It is a very fast wing that is easy to handle and versatile for kite foiling.

It is ideally paired with a Fluid stab in an equivalent size. You can also choose a Ypra Slalom stab for a more specialized freeride/freerace approach, or a Ypra Surf-Freestyle stab for working on maneuvers and jumps.

For maneuvers and strapless riding: Ypra Surf Freestyle

If you enjoy jibes, tacks or strapless riding, the Ypra Surf-Freestyle combined with its Ypra Surf-Freestyle stab is a benchmark setup. It is also very commonly paired with the Ypra Slalom stabilizer when the goal is to optimize yaw control.

This setup delivers excellent maneuverability while maintaining good forgiveness at low speed. Another advantage is that you can increase the wing area for greater comfort at the low end without adding too much span, which preserves the foil's responsiveness.

For freerace and big jumps: Ypra Slalom

Freerace enthusiasts and riders going for committed jumps will appreciate the Ypra Slalom paired with its Ypra Slalom stabilizer. For kite foiling, the XXS size is the most relevant choice in order to maintain a reasonable span and maximum control at high speed.

The ultimate setup: Ypra Freestyle Micro V3 XXS

If there had to be just one setup for high-performance kite foiling, it would be the Ypra Freestyle Micro V3 XXS.

It combines the maneuverability of the Ypra Surf Freestyle with the control, pop and speed of the Ypra Slalom. The result is a foil capable of accelerating extremely hard, boosting high on jumps and remaining perfectly controllable at high speed.

The Micro fuselage delivers a particularly noticeable gain in glide and speed. It allows you to build more speed before takeoff, improve pop and achieve great precision when edging. A true concentration of performance for riders looking to push their limits.

Can you use high-aspect wings for kite foiling?

It is best to avoid high-aspect front wings, as they are not suited to the steep riding angles and maneuverability required for kite foiling. Wings specifically designed for pumping or downwind riding should therefore generally be ruled out.

The Curve, Veloce and Veloce Freefly sit somewhere in between. Their aspect ratio is relatively high for kite foiling, but by choosing smaller surface areas, they can offer an excellent compromise. They provide more glide and are particularly well suited to riders who enjoy drifting downwind under the kite or drawing long turns in the waves.
