An iconic surf culture brand

Billabong fits naturally into the GONG universe with an identity deeply connected to surfing and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Founded in 1973 on Australia's Gold Coast by Gordon and Rena Merchant, the brand began by making boardshorts designed around the needs of surfers.

Over the decades, Billabong has become an international reference in surf culture. Its world brings together technical clothing, wetsuits, boardshorts and lifestyle pieces, with collections inspired by the ocean, travel and the sessions that shape riders' everyday lives.

Boardshorts born directly from surfing

Boardshorts hold a historic place at Billabong. From the beginning, Gordon Merchant worked on durable, functional models, including triple-stitched construction designed to better withstand the stresses of surf sessions. This focus on comfort and durability quickly contributed to the growth of the brand.
