Programme

The modernised fast and fun fish to rediscover the glide, speed and style of a twin keel, with more control, grip and performance thanks to the channels.

Overview

With its retro design and cult history, the fish is much more than just a board: it’s a symbol of surf culture. Owning a fish is a statement of style, a freer, smoother, more instinctive way of surfing.

The J.Low picks up that iconic spirit: let it glide, go fast and draw beautiful curves. From the very first waves, you get that unique twin keel feeling back, with loads of flow, natural speed build-up and that effortless sense of speed that makes a fish so addictive.

But the J.Low is not just a simple retro fish. Its shape keeps the fundamentals of the genre, with classic curves and a free-flowing ride, while adding real modernity through the rails and bottom shape. The result: more precision, more hold and a board capable of going further than a traditional fish.

The channels clearly change the board’s behaviour. They add grip, stabilise the board at high speed and support the action of the fins, without compromising the twin’s natural glide. You keep the flow, but with more control so you can push harder.

That’s what allows the J.Low to venture into faster, hollower or more powerful waves than those usually associated with a fish. It stays smooth and stylish, but inspires more confidence when the wave starts to accelerate.

The J.Low is a board every surfer should ride at least once in their life: speed, freedom, style, grip and flow. A modernised, iconic and high-performance fish, made for drawing beautiful lines with maximum enjoyment.

Shape
OUTLINE

The 100% fish outline keeps the shape’s fundamentals intact: a compact board, generous under the chest, fast to paddle and naturally blessed with excellent glide. The wide point positioned under the torso adds comfort, makes take-off easier and helps generate speed very early on.

The compact length delivers a lively feel underfoot, with a board that sets up quickly and maintains smooth handling. You get the classic fish spirit: glide, flow and full lines, with controlled surface area to retain precision.

ROCKER

The rocker stays low and drawn-out, true to the fish spirit. This fast curve promotes water flow, reduces drag and lets the J.Low pick up speed with very little effort.

The board planes early, carries speed and gets through weak sections with ease. This rocker delivers that feeling of continuous glide, perfect for drawing lines, linking carves and letting the twin keel’s natural speed do the talking.

BOTTOM SHAPE

The bottom shape clearly modernises the fish feel thanks to channels aligned with the fins. They channel the water, support the action of the keel fins and provide more hold than a classic fish.

These channels stabilise the board as speed builds and let you push harder through carves without losing the twin's flow. You keep the fish's free glide, but with more control, more hold and more options in fast waves.

TAIL

The traditional fish tail provides the planing area needed to generate speed, build speed and accelerate. Its width gives support under the back foot and helps maintain momentum in small to medium conditions.

Unlike a full tail, the fish tail lets you load up the tail tips and fins to pivot, wrap turns and keep grip. You gain drive, flow and control through fast carves.

RAILS

The rails bring modernity to the shape. They deliver more precision, more grip and more confident handling than a purely retro fish, especially when the wave gets faster or hollower.

They let you make the most of the twin's glide without dealing with an overly loose feel. The J.Low stays free, fluid and playful, but with enough bite to commit to your turns and push your lines with confidence.

Single Tab connection: simple, direct and solid

The Single Tab system features a single, extended base on each fin. This design creates a solid connection with the fin box, making installation simple, fin changes quick, and power transfer exceptionally direct.

On the water, the benefits are immediate. The board responds instantly, the fins work without unwanted play, and every input translates into drive, grip and control. This is especially valuable on high performance boards, where precise feedback is essential at high speeds and through committed turns.

The Single Tab system also makes it easy to fine tune your setup for different conditions. Changing fin size, template or flex lets you refine the board's feel in just a few moments. It provides a clean, durable and efficient connection, allowing you to unlock the full potential of the shape.

Good to know: Single Tab fin boxes are only compatible with Single Tab fins.

Key benefits:

  • Simple installation and quick fin changes.
  • Direct connection for immediate response underfoot.
  • Excellent drive, grip and control through powerful turns.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

For surfers who want to rediscover the style, speed and free glide of a fish, with a more modern, more controlled and higher-performance ride than a traditional fish.

For intermediate to advanced surfers who love drawing clean lines, linking carves and surfing with flow, rather than only looking for a vertical shortboard approach.

For those who want an iconic board in their quiver: a different board, fast, stylish, that makes you want to let it run, go fast and enjoy a unique twin keel feel.

What for?

For surfing with speed, freedom and style in small to medium conditions, while keeping enough hold to push harder when the wave gets faster.

To go further than a classic fish. The channels add hold, stabilise the board and enhance the fins' action, which lets you keep control in hollower or more powerful waves.

To enjoy the twin feel without losing confidence. The J.Low keeps the fish's smooth, free glide, but with a more precise, more stable and more usable ride when you accelerate.

What board size?

The J.Low is generally ridden shorter than a classic shortboard, because its fish outline, volume and usable surface area already provide plenty of paddling power, stability and natural speed.

Don't choose it too big: its appeal comes from its compact format, its flow and its ability to sit quickly under your feet. Too much length would reduce the lively, fluid and playful side of the shape.

If you're between two sizes, choose the bigger one for more paddling power, comfort and earlier take-off in weak waves. Choose the smaller one to emphasise manoeuvrability, the free feel and a more reactive rail-to-rail ride.

What are the ideal waves?

Size: from small waves to medium waves, depending on your level, build and the power of the spot.

Power: it works very well in soft to average waves, but its channels also let it keep more hold when the wave gets faster or hollower.

Shape: it prefers waves with a bit of face to let its glide shine through: clean lines, sections to connect, fast waves but not too chaotic. That's where its flow, twin keel and channels deliver the best balance.

Which construction?

The J.Low needs a construction capable of preserving its natural speed, drive and precision. The goal is to have a board that feels lively under your feet, but composed enough to hold its line as speed builds.

A light, responsive construction will highlight the speed build-up, glide and fast and fun side of the fish. It helps the board get going quickly, keep its energy and stay enjoyable in small to medium conditions.

The aim isn't to have a board that's too soft or too tame, but one that keeps the flow of a fish with enough response to make the most of the channels, modern rails and twin keel.

Which fin setup?

The J.Low comes set up as a twin keel Single Tab. It's the setup that delivers the true fish feel: lots of speed, little drag, smooth glide and natural drive through long carves.

Keel fins bring a wide base, which means hold, support and drawn-out lines. They let you push hard without breaking the line, while keeping that free, stylish ride that is unique to a twin.

The 50% nylon / 50% fibreglass fins bring a good balance of control, stiffness and response under pressure. They keep their hold at high speed and work perfectly with the channels.

Which shape should you choose?

Choose the J.Low if you want a modernised iconic fish: a fast, free and stylish board, but more precise and higher-performing than a purely retro fish.

Its 100% fish outline delivers the glide. Its low rocker brings the speed. Its fish tail keeps the drive. Its modern rails add precision. Its channels enhance hold and stability without taking away the twin's flow.

The J.Low is therefore the right choice for surfers who want to let it run, go fast and draw beautiful carves, with a board rooted in surf culture that keeps its style while pushing fish performance further.

Which bag?

Frequent questions
What exactly is the J.Low?

The J.Low is a modernised fish: a fast, fluid and stylish board that keeps the iconic twin keel feel while adding more control thanks to its modern rails and channels.

Who is the J.Low for?

It is aimed at intermediate to advanced surfers looking for a board with glide, style and speed, with a freer feel than a shortboard but more precision than a classic retro fish.

What kind of waves does it work best in?

It performs best in small to medium waves, from soft to average, with enough face to let its speed, flow and long carves shine.

What do the channels bring?

The channels direct the water towards the fins, increase hold and stabilise the board as speed builds. They let you keep the twin's flow while adding more control in fast waves.

Is the J.Low higher-performance than a classic fish?

Yes, its shape stays true to the fish spirit, but the modern rails and channels give it more hold, more precision and more confidence when the wave gets faster or hollower.

Why choose a twin keel?

The Single Tab twin keel delivers speed, drive and smooth glide. The wide-base fins support long carves, keep solid pressure under the back foot and enhance the fish’s classic feel.

Is this board easy to ride?

Yes, it gets going easily, has plenty of glide and naturally carries speed. But to get the most out of it, you need to embrace a fish style of surfing: ride it with rail, flow and full lines, rather than a vertical shortboard approach.

What’s the difference compared with a classic shortboard?

A shortboard will feel more vertical, more direct and more locked-in. The J.Low delivers a more free, fast and stylish glide, with plenty of drive and a unique twin-fin feel for drawing beautiful lines.
