Description

Programme

The benchmark wing for getting started, progressing quickly and enjoying easy, versatile freeride.

Overview

The Plus 2027 is designed to make wing foiling feel intuitive from the very first sessions. It’s easy to handle, you quickly understand how it reacts, and you can focus on what matters most: getting up, flying, holding your line and progressing without fighting your gear.

Its new shape delivers more natural power, better directed forwards. On take-off, it helps get the board going without demanding perfect technique. Once flying, it accelerates easily and stays efficient when the wind drops, while remaining smooth and progressive when the conditions get stronger.

The power is concentrated in the centre of the wing, with a wingspan that stays compact. This makes it compact, easy to pump and helps prevent the tips from touching the water. For a beginner, that means fewer unnecessary movements; for a rider who’s progressing, it’s a wing that stays efficient as the pace picks up.

The more open, refined tips also give an immediate feeling of lightness. The Plus turns more freely, naturally repositions itself and supports those first transitions with plenty of smoothness. Jibes and tacks gradually become more fluid, without having to force the handling.

The new strut follows the same logic: its reactions are more consistent and easier to anticipate, with a more comfortable hand position. You can start simply with the soft handles, then upgrade the wing with rigid handles or a boom as your level and preferences evolve.

That’s the whole idea behind the Plus 2027: a wing that makes the first steps easier, builds confidence quickly and keeps you wanting to go further, with more glide, comfort and performance at every stage of your progression.

GONG | Wing Plus Handles - Perf Series
Shape
Strut

The Plus 2027 features a strut with a more natural, predictable behavior. A triple-section profile at the rear hand smooths out flex under load. Its diameter then gradually tapers towards the back to maintain a consistent, precise response.

The handle attachment points have also been repositioned to more closely match the boom’s mounting geometry: when fitted with a boom, the wing delivers a feel very close to that of a boom version. Finally, the rear hand position, set further into the wing, improves comfort and balance while riding.

Profile

The 2027 profile gains volume in the front section to move the centre of effort forward and turn more of the power into useful drive. The Plus accelerates more naturally, makes take-off easier and stays more efficient in light wind.

By contrast, the rear two thirds of the profile are slightly shallower and remain very flat: the wing puts less pressure on the back hand, reduces backwinding and maintains a particularly progressive sheeting in and out.

Outline

The Plus 2027 concentrates more surface area in the centre and towards the front, with an increased centre chord. This new distribution delivers more low-end power where it is easiest to use: the board gets going earlier, pumping requires less amplitude, and the pull naturally stays directed forwards.

All of this without increasing the wingspan, to keep the wing easy to handle and particularly well suited to learning.

Tips

More open and slimmer, the new tips free up the wingtips of the Plus. They concentrate inertia and usable surface area in the centre to deliver an immediately lighter feel. The wing glides better, turns more naturally and tracks upwind more efficiently.

Their slimmer profile also reduces tip strikes during pumping or first transitions, making progression even easier.

100% backward-compatible GFS system

At GONG, backward compatibility is at the heart of our product development. No customer should be left behind without a solution. That’s why we’ve worked hard to offer booms that still fit our first-generation 2023 GFS wings.

More than a promise, it’s a fact. No adapter needed: simply swap your 2023 boom for this excellent clip-in boom.

Semi-rigid handles

Among the many areas we focused on in developing our wings, we optimized the textile handles. The two strut handles and the leading-edge handle are now significantly stiffer.

Two lengthwise seams hold the PVC, EVA, and nylon firmly together. The result is zero twisting, greater stiffness, and more precision and responsiveness during maneuvers.

The feel is completely different from the 24V1 textile handles, which we now classify as "soft handles" and still offer as spare parts. The new handles deliver performance close to carbon rigid handles, while being lighter, more protective, less bulky, and therefore easier to transport.

Image

Panoramic view

Clear visibility is essential for safety, which is why we’ve designed the wing to give you a panoramic view from your riding position.
Four large PVC windows centered on the canopy, plus a PVC window on the sail panel, give you an exceptional view at a glance.
These PVC panels integrate seamlessly into the wing’s profile and are highly resistant to cold and creasing.

Shape updates

The Plus Perf 2027 features a thoroughly redesigned shape for more usable power, better glide, and easier handling.

The center chord is longer, and the surface area is shifted slightly forward to create more forward drive, make takeoff easier, and improve upwind performance, all while keeping the wingspan compact and confidence-inspiring.

The wingtips are more open and slimmer to reduce inertia, minimize tip strikes, and make the wing feel lighter and more maneuverable.

The profile is fuller toward the front, moving the center of effort forward and making better use of light winds. The rear two-thirds remain flatter for smooth, stable handling and a very progressive response when sheeting in and out.

The new strut completes the balance, with flex that is more evenly distributed and predictable. The result is a higher-performing wing with better glide and smoother transitions, while retaining the ease and forgiveness that define the Plus.

Image

One Pump Max Flow System

The new Max Flow System improves airflow between the leading edge and the center strut with a redesigned valve and a higher-flow One Pump hose. Air transfers faster during inflation, helping the wing pressurize more efficiently and evenly.

The system retains the simplicity of One Pump while reducing setup time before your session. Once the wing is inflated, you can still shut off airflow between the bladders to isolate them.

Perf Series Wing technology

Building a great wing takes more than choosing quality materials. It’s the result of years of development, testing, on-water feedback, and daily collaboration with one of the world’s leading specialized kite and wing manufacturers.

With each new generation, we’ve refined every step of production to create wings that stay true to the original design, deliver consistent quality from one wing to the next, and maintain their performance over time. Panels are precision-cut digitally. Strategic reinforcements are assembled with automated processes where they improve consistency, while complex closing and finishing work remains in the hands of experienced craftspeople.

This combination of industrial precision and skilled handwork lets us control every detail of construction, including in the areas that take the most stress. Each wing then undergoes rigorous quality control, including a 24-hour pressure test before approval.
We choose materials with the same care, favoring proven options that deliver stiffness, performance, durability, and repairability. The goal isn’t just to build a wing that performs well when new, but one that remains reliable, repairable, and enjoyable to use season after season.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

The Plus is the most accessible and progressive wing in the range. It is ideal for discovering wing foiling with a wing that is forgiving, stable and easy to understand, but it is not limited to beginners.

Its progressive power delivery, compact span and new shape with better glide mean you can keep it in your quiver for a long time. It is therefore just as well suited to the intermediate rider looking for a versatile wing to ride often, as it is to the experienced rider wanting an easy, efficient wing without an overly specialised character.

What for?

The Plus is made for learning, progressing and making the most of as many sessions as possible with a single wing.

Its low-end power makes take-off and light wind easier, while its compact wingspan simplifies pumping and limits tip touchdowns. Once flying, its new profile pulls more forward, glides easily and allows you to ride upwind efficiently.

It naturally supports your first transitions, then jibes, tacks, long runs and first jumps. Its character always remains forgiving and predictable: it is a do-it-all wing before you need a more specialised model.

Understanding our wing range:

Plus: the wing for learning, progressing and doing everything easily.

Droid: the compact, dynamic wing for freestyle, surf and committed riding.

Neutra: the wave and freefly-oriented wing, with a light feel and great freedom on the wave.

If your priority is ease and versatility, choose the Plus. When your riding becomes more specialised, a Droid or a Neutra can then complement your quiver rather than systematically replacing your Plus.

What size should you choose?

The right size mainly depends on your weight, your level, your board, your foil and the wind you usually ride in.

When starting out, it is better to have enough surface area to benefit from solid low-end power. Pumping and take-off then become much more efficient with experience: in the same wind, an experienced rider will therefore often use a smaller wing than a beginner.

Do not choose your size based only on the theoretical wind range. A large board and a high-lift foil make it possible to reduce the wing size needed, whereas a more technical combo will require more power to take off.

Which foil with the Plus?

The choice of foil will strongly determine the character of your combo. With the same Plus, a very high-lift foil will make take-off and stability easier, while a thinner, more maneuverable foil will deliver more speed, glide and freedom in carves.

To start out, the X-Over is the most obvious choice. Its generous lift, stability and progressive take-off make first flights and height control easier. It gives you time to understand how the foil reacts, work on your upwind angle, then approach your first jibes and tacks without making the handling too twitchy. It perfectly complements the forgiving and predictable character of the Plus.

To progress after a first foil, the Ascent brings more speed, glide and maneuverability while remaining very accessible. It requires a little more precision than an X-Over but still retains enough stability and lift to progress with confidence. It is an excellent match with the Plus for a rider who is starting to link transitions and wants to unlock more sensation without moving straight onto a very technical foil.

For higher-performance freeride and more carving, the Curve further increases glide and freedom in carves. It lets you carry more speed between maneuvers, pump more efficiently and start making the most of waves and bumps with a more dynamic ride. The Fluid goes one step further: livelier, faster and more maneuverable, it is aimed at the rider who is already technically solid and wants to turn the Plus's versatility into a sportier, more committed combo.

For light wind, the foil becomes decisive. A Veloce Light Wind gets you flying early while keeping plenty of glide and a good average speed: it accelerates with little energy, helps create apparent wind and carries efficiently through lulls. It is the right choice if you want to make the most of light wind without sacrificing sensations once up and running.

The Sirus goes even further when the absolute priority is flying in the least possible wind. Its very high lift at low speed allows take-off with little energy and keeps you flying when conditions become marginal. Paired with a high-glide board like a Cruzader and a sufficiently powered-up Plus, it lets you build a true quiver dedicated to sessions you would otherwise have watched from the beach.

Finally, size matters just as much as the foil family. A large front wing generally makes take-off and low-speed flight easier, while a smaller size unlocks speed and maneuverability. The right choice therefore depends on your weight, your level, your board and above all what you want to prioritise: ease with the X-Over, progression with the Ascent, carving with the Curve, committed handling with the Fluid, high-performance light wind with the Veloce LW or extreme low end with the Sirus.

Which board with the Plus?

The choice of board has a huge impact on ease of take-off, stability at a standstill and responsiveness once flying. With the same Plus, a wide, high-volume board will make the first steps more reassuring, a compact board will give more control and maneuverability, while a mid-length will bring glide and allow take-off with less power.

To start out with maximum stability, the HIPE First is the simplest solution. Wide and compact, it offers plenty of lateral stability for getting onto your knees, standing up and learning to handle the wing without constantly fighting for balance. Its inflatable format also makes transport easier and limits impacts during the first sessions.

If you often start out in light or inconsistent wind, the HIPE Like brings more length and more glide before take-off. It builds speed progressively without requiring very physical pumping, which allows take-off with a less powered-up Plus and makes it easier to make the most of small conditions. It remains stable and accessible, but prioritises glide more than the maximum lateral stability of a First.

To move onto a very accessible rigid board, the Zuma prioritises stability, volume and calm progression. It is particularly interesting for a rider still in the learning phase who wants plenty of comfort on their knees and standing up, while benefiting from the more direct feel of a rigid board.

The Lance pushes this logic towards more compactness. Very wide but under six feet, it retains excellent stability while removing some of the length in front of the rider. It therefore feels livelier once flying and makes the transition to more dynamic handling easier. It is a very good choice to pair with the Plus when you want to keep an easy board but start seriously working on jibes, tacks and freefly.

For a rider who is already autonomous and looking for more responsiveness and versatility, the Mint is a natural progression. Its programme blends freeride, freefly and wave riding: the board becomes more compact underfoot, responds more directly to foot pressure and follows changes of line much better. With the Plus, you get a lively, versatile combo without immediately switching to a radical board.

The Lemon leans more towards dynamic freeride and carving. Its compact shape prioritises responsiveness and control once flying. It therefore suits the rider who already has their starts dialled in and wants to make the most of the Plus's glide with a board that turns quickly, follows the pressure well and delivers a sportier feel underfoot.

To make a real gain in glide and low end, a Cruzader Diamond changes the whole logic of the combo. Its longer, narrower outline accelerates naturally before take-off: the board generates speed on the water and therefore requires less energy from the wing to reach take-off speed. You can get going earlier, pump less hard and cross lulls more easily while keeping good responsiveness once flying.

Finally, if your priority is clearly light wind, a Cruzader Point LW pushes this logic even further. Its length and glide are designed to create speed in very little wind. Paired with a large Plus and a high-lift foil, it lets you build a specialised combo capable of making the most of conditions in which a compact board would require significantly more power and pumping.

Volume remains decisive in all cases. More volume and width bring stability and make starts more secure, while reducing volume and length progressively unlocks responsiveness. A longer, narrower board, on the other hand, brings more glide before flight. The right choice is therefore to balance your level, your weight and your programme rather than systematically looking for the smallest board possible.

In short: HIPE First for maximum stability, HIPE Like for learning with more glide, Zuma for easy progression on a rigid board, Lance for more compactness, Mint for versatility, Lemon for more responsive freeride, and Cruzader to make the most of glide and light wind.

You can, and probably should, add a SUP and a surf foil to this combo for windless days, a kite to get launched into orbit, and probably a quiver of surfboards for proper waves. But if you are getting into winging, you may already have those toys in the garage ;-)

Soft handles, semi-rigid handles, rigid handles, or boom?

The Plus comes with semi-rigid textile handles, and its GFS system makes it easy to evolve your grip setup without changing wing.

Semi-rigid textile handles offer an excellent compromise between lightness, comfort and precision. They are perfectly suited to learning and progressing.

Rigid carbon handles provide more direct, precise handling while retaining two distinct grip zones.

The boom offers continuous grip: you can place your hands freely, side changes are very natural and handling becomes particularly intuitive in transitions and tricks.

The choice therefore depends more on your feel and your riding than on your level. And thanks to the GFS, your choice can evolve over time.

Which leash?

A 5'5 to 8' wing leash will be ideal. Preferably a model dedicated to winging. A short leash lets you recover the wing quickly. A long leash protects the wing from foil crashes into the canopy by letting it drift further away.

Check its condition before every session and replace it every year. It is your life jacket.

Do not let your wing flap in the wind at the end of the leash, it is not unbreakable! Same in the waves, do not hold your wing by the leash, it will explode or you will get injured.

Harness or not?

No need for a harness when starting out, quite the opposite. You do short runs and get back onto the board often. Using a harness places the wing fully powered right in front of you, with the tip close to the water. The best way to get catapulted if the tip catches the water and you do not know how to react.

On the other hand, the Plus allows for major progression, so nothing stops you from fitting a harness line once you have the level to do long runs and extend your sessions instead of your arms ;-)

Riding without a harness is sexy because you feel free. You can move in every direction, it is really enjoyable.

On the other hand, you need to ride underpowered and do short runs so your arms do not get stretched out. It also means having to pump often to get flying again.

All our wings have attachments for harness lines. So you naturally have the choice of using a harness or not.

So if, on the contrary, you like riding powered up, using a harness is almost mandatory if you do not want your sessions limited to one hour. In that case, fitting harness lines is super simple. We recommend using a harness that is as unrestrictive and as little rigid as possible, with either a minimalist hook or a windsurf-style hook for comfort.

Lines with 24 to 28 cm between the strut and the bottom of the V will be perfect. A length of 30 to 32 cm makes the first steps easier. A small-diameter rope and thin tubing are mandatory because windsurf lines, for example, are too heavy and stiff, and therefore dangerous in tacks and other tricks.

So it is up to you whether feel and aesthetics take priority over performance. But more and more riders are using a harness because the trend is moving towards more powerful wings and more performance.

Need a replacement bladder?

Bladders, valves and other components remain available as spare parts so you can repair and maintain your wing over time.

Refer to the bladder compatibility guide to identify the correct reference according to your wing's model, size and year.

Already equipped: why keep a Plus in your quiver?

Even as your level improves, a Plus remains highly relevant. Its ease allows you to ride in inconsistent conditions, lend out your gear, get back into it after a break, or simply enjoy a session without looking for ultra-technical handling.

It can therefore remain the versatile wing in your quiver while a specialised model complements certain programmes. A Plus for easy, versatile sessions, a Droid for sending it, or a Neutra for surfing: the roles become complementary.

Equipments

  • 5 windows: clear panoramic vision to better anticipate riders, obstacles and lines, without affecting the wing’s behaviour.

  • Camera safety loops: nylon attachments on the tips and near the strut to secure a camera without getting in the way of your field of vision.
  • Repair kit: patches for bladders and fabrics to quickly deal with small punctures, cuts or tears.
  • Carry bag: a tough, compact bag to carry the wing and its accessories. Not compatible with the wing stored with the boom fitted.

5 windows

The Plus 2027 features five windows distributed across the canopy to maintain good awareness of your surroundings without affecting the wing’s behaviour. Their positioning helps you better anticipate other riders, obstacles and lines during starts, transitions or close-quarters riding. A real plus for learning, progressing and riding with confidence, while keeping a wing that is light, balanced and easy to handle.

Integrated harness line attachment system

Two discreet attachment points, directly integrated into the strut, make it easy to fit a GONG harness line. Their positioning is optimised to maintain good pull balance and effectively take the load off your arms on long runs. This lets you ride for longer with less fatigue, without affecting grip or wing handling.

Semi-rigid textile downwind handle

Almost rigid, the downwind handle offers a more precise and more direct grip to improve wing control in freefly and in surf. It gives you better one-handed control of the wing while keeping enough flex to stay comfortable during lulls and drift phases.

The new oval stitching and the reinforcements added at the anchor points spread loads more efficiently across the leading edge, improving overall durability.

The Dyneema leash attachment is now positioned on the canopy side of the handle. This keeps the leash clearer of the grip zone and makes it less intrusive on your hands in freefly.

A pair of semi-rigid textile handles

A set of semi-rigid textile handles is supplied with your wing. Their new longitudinal stitching significantly increases stiffness to deliver a more precise grip and more direct handling, while keeping the comfort and light weight of a textile handle.

The integrated GFS system then makes it easy to upgrade your setup with carbon handles or a boom. This means you can adapt the feel of your wing to your level, your preferences and your programme without changing wings.

Fast inflation with the One Pump Max Flow system

The leading edge and central strut are connected by the One Pump system to inflate the whole wing quickly from a single valve. Once the wing is pressurised, the clip isolates the two bladders so the wing keeps its buoyancy in the event of damage to the strut or leading edge.

A second valve is integrated into the strut to speed up deflation. Simply open the leading edge and strut valves to release the air quickly and make folding and packing easier.

To preserve the wing’s structure, always make sure to deflate the strut at the same time as the leading edge and never leave the strut pressurised on its own.

Fiberglass mini battens

Fiberglass mini battens are integrated into the trailing edge to effectively limit flutter and maintain the profile right out to the tip of the canopy.

They stabilise the trailing edge, improve profile hold and promote cleaner airflow to keep the wing precise and efficient, even as speed increases.

Light, durable and easy to replace, they also make it easy to maintain your wing and extend its performance over time.

Camera safety loops

Discreet nylon safety attachments are integrated on each tip and close to the strut to secure your camera when mounted on the leading edge or on the strut with a suitable mount.

Their positioning is designed to keep the leash out of the camera’s field of view and avoid any interference while riding. This lets you film your sessions from several angles while keeping a clean, secure setup, with no risk of losing your camera in a crash.

Repair kit

A repair kit is supplied with your wing to carry out routine repairs and extend its lifespan.

It includes patches suitable for bladders and fabrics, handy for quick repairs in the event of a small puncture, cut or tear.

Carry bag

The wing comes with a practical, durable carry bag designed to make packing, transport and storage between sessions easier.

Its volume makes it easy to store the folded wing with its accessories, while its compact format makes getting to the spot easier and limits bulk in the vehicle or at home. Please note, the bag is not compatible with a wing stored with the boom fitted.

10 years of spare parts

At GONG, durability is part of the design brief from the very start. But making a wing last also means being able to maintain and repair it over time.

That is why we are committed to offering the components needed to maintain our wings for 10 years: bladders, valves, fabrics and specific parts remain available to extend the lifespan of your gear as much as possible.

If needed, you have two options:

  1. Our GONG workshop can diagnose your wing and carry out the necessary repairs.
  2. Spare parts are available to order so you can carry out maintenance yourself or have the repair done by your usual workshop.

If a reference is temporarily unavailable, we do everything necessary to restock it as quickly as possible.

A well-maintained wing stays high-performing for longer, retains its value and can keep riding for many years, including on the second-hand market.

Frequent questions
Who is the PLUS 2027 for?

The PLUS 2027 is the most accessible wing in the range and offers the most room to grow. It suits beginners looking for a solid start as well as intermediate riders seeking a simple, comfortable and high-performance wing to develop their freeride skills.

Its main strength is that riders won’t outgrow it once they have mastered the basics. Its forgiving shape offers enough glide, upwind ability and efficiency to support continued progression.

What is the difference between the PLUS 2027 and the PLUS 2026?

The PLUS 2027 delivers more performance while remaining just as easy to use.

Its new profile is fuller in the front section to generate more usable forward drive, and its centre chord has been increased to make take-off easier.

Its tips are more open and slimmer, improving glide and maneuverability while giving the wing a lighter feel.

The new strut also brings a clear improvement in control: its flex is more progressive, more consistent and more predictable.

On the water, this results in a wing that feels smoother through transitions, more efficient in light wind and offers better glide once up to speed.

Is it a good wing for beginners?

Yes, this is clearly one of its main uses.

Its compact wingspan limits tip strikes, its power delivery is progressive, and its sheeting response makes it easy to control the pull. The generous centre chord also makes pumping and take-off easier, two phases that are often tricky when you're starting out.

The wing’s behaviour remains very predictable: it won’t catch you out, doesn’t require constant corrections, and is very forgiving of positioning mistakes.

Does it remain a good choice as you progress?

Yes, and that is precisely one of the Plus 2027’s strong points.

Its new shape gives it more glide, speed and upwind ability, while making it smoother through tacks and gybes. So it remains enjoyable well beyond those first sessions.

Riders can start with a simple setup, then upgrade their equipment as they progress, particularly by adding a boom, without having to change wings straight away.

How does it perform in light wind?

The PLUS 2027 is particularly effective in light winds thanks to its new profile, which is fuller in the front section, and its longer centre chord.

These developments generate more low-end power and direct the pull more towards the front. This helps get the board going, accelerate more quickly and stay on foil through lulls.

Its wingspan remains compact, making it easy to pump without needing large movements.

Why is the new strut important?

The 2027 strut features a triple-section geometry in the rear-hand area, with a steady taper towards the rear.

This allows flex to be distributed more evenly along its full length. The strut flexes more uniformly under load, instead of concentrating deformation in one specific area.

For the rider, this results in a wing that is more progressive, more precise and above all more predictable. Power comes on more smoothly and the wing’s reactions are easier to anticipate.

Can the Plus 2027 be used with a boom?

Yes.

Once fitted with a boom, the Plus 2027 feels very similar to a wing designed from the outset around this type of grip, with a more natural hand position and smoother handling.

What’s the difference between using handles and a boom on the Plus 2027?

The handles offer a light, simple and intuitive setup, particularly well suited to learning and classic freeriding.

The boom gives you more freedom in hand placement and lets you shift your grip instantly during transitions or maneuvers. It also delivers a more direct, more continuous feel in the handling.

The Plus 2027 was designed so both setups remain consistent and efficient.
