Start, progress quickly and effortlessly in surf foil.

Presentation

The Lance is a surf foil board designed to learn easily and accelerate your progression from the very first sessions.

Easy to paddle, stable at take off, it’s THE ideal board to discover surf foil in the easiest way possible, both technically and physically.

At the crossroads between mid-length and compact boards, the Lance is a perfectly versatile shape that combines glide and manoeuvrability, while focusing its behaviour on simplicity and foil mastery.

You start easily, even on a small lazy wave. You stand up without urgency. You place your feet well, take control of the foil and off you go. No feeling of bulkiness, you can immediately pump and carve. Simple and effective for everyone.

The thin, faceted rails offer a comfortable grip to ensure good board control, help you master your foil during the take off phase, and limit the impact of touchdowns. The Lance glides and doesn’t stick to the water at the slightest mistake, quite the opposite, it is capable of calming things down, gliding and flying again.

With its refined outline, the Lance is easy and enjoyable to handle. Its voluminous tail, due to its width and thickness, boosts paddling at take off by providing firm support and facilitates the pop-up. Its Diamond shape reduces the surface at the angles and brings fluidity to the carves. The well-balanced central width provides stability and confidence in support, while allowing good glide on a streamlined shape. Once in flight, you quickly forget that it is such an easy board to handle.

The deck plan is also very subtle with a discreet nose bulb that adds a touch of volume under the chest, providing good paddling support. Conversely, the stance area is flat and as close as possible to the foil to maximise sensations and control.

The hull plan features a double concave at the nose to guide the board and absorb touchdowns. The foil area is flat to maximise glide. The hull ends with a significant kick tail that allows the board to release from the water instantly. The rear rail edges, especially at the kick, are sharp to enhance fast glide without sucking water, while they are soft and smooth at the nose to avoid mistakes.

The new pad ridge is thin to optimise the board's weight while maintaining excellent grip and great comfort, with an integrated central boomerang to soften take-offs.

Constructed with an EPS core, our dedicated foil technology that wraps this dynamic blank is both very strong and easily repairable to new in case of damage, offering an excellent lightness/responsiveness ratio, highlighting all the technical qualities of the shape.

Shape
OUTLINE

The outline of the Lance is sleek yet generous, with enough length for efficient paddling and enough width to stabilise the take-off phases. The board offers comfort under the chest, margin at take-off, and is truly easy to handle.

This additional width brings peace of mind without turning the Lance into a slow or cumbersome board. It remains responsive underfoot, stable in the initial turns, and sufficiently adaptable to support progression towards more precise control.

Volume & stability

The new shape gains slightly in width and thickness to offer more stability and comfort. This volume distribution provides more time to position yourself, stand up, and adjust your stance, which is essential in the first sessions.

The Lance does not aim to be minimal or radical. It provides leeway where needed: under the chest while paddling, at take-off when the wave pushes, and during the first flights when the stance is not yet perfectly set.

HULL

The hull of the Lance is designed to make the board smooth, predictable, and efficient. The double concave under the front third channels the flow, guides the board, and softens the touchdowns, especially during phases where the handling is not yet perfectly clean.

Around the foil, the flat central area maximises glide and provides a stable response underfoot. The sharp kick tail facilitates water release and helps the board to detach cleanly when it comes back into contact. The Lance remains forgiving without becoming sluggish.

TAIL

The wide tail of the Lance provides lift at take-off and facilitates the pop-up. It helps the board pop more easily, stabilises the start phase, and allows you to take off without needing to paddle perfectly or position yourself with precision.

Its diamond tail maintains a modern, clean, and efficient exit. You retain support for an early start while avoiding a tail that's too heavy or too basic. This is a key point for the comfort and ease of the Lance.

RAILS

The faceted rails of the Lance reduce the hull surface and limit the board's tendency to stick to the water. They make touchdowns more progressive, less frequent, and easier to manage during learning.

They also allow for greater angling without touching too early, which aids progression in the first turns. The Lance remains smooth, reassuring, and stable, with a forgiving shape that doesn't hinder development.

Nose & Rocker

The nose of the Lance provides useful volume at the front to stabilise paddling, give some leeway for take-off, and prevent nosedives when positioning isn't yet perfect. It helps maintain support under the chest and transitions smoothly down the face without requiring pro-level precision.

Its flat rocker in the centre enhances glide before take-off and allows you to start without having to paddle excessively hard. The Lance moves smoothly, launches easily, and gives the rider time to stand up, set their stance, and let the foil take over.

New ridge pad

The new three-piece Ridge Pad creates a modular traction zone. In keeping with the Lance's accessible and progressive program, the central boomerang pad is integrated as standard to provide greater deck comfort and soften impacts during take-offs.

The integrated circular perforations also optimize the pad's weight, keeping the board light and responsive underfoot.

With its outstanding grip and 5 mm thickness, the Ridge Pad delivers excellent comfort and absolute traction, ensuring secure foot placement and precise control.

EPS Technology

Strength, light weight, and accessibility.

EPS Foilboard technology is built around a simple, reliable, and high-performance construction, featuring an epoxy/fiberglass laminate over a high-density EPS foam core. It delivers an excellent balance of light weight, strength, and responsiveness, while remaining easy to repair in the event of damage.

  • 3D-designed shape created using advanced CAD software to precisely control volume distribution, outlines, and overall balance.
  • CNC pre-shaped blank ensuring absolute consistency from one board to the next.
  • Final shape checked with traditional templates and hand-finished to preserve the shaper's precision and craftsmanship.
  • Epoxy/fiberglass laminate over a 28 kg/m³ high-density EPS core, reinforced with three 3 mm wooden stringers for a construction that is strong, lightweight, and lively.
  • Deck: two layers of 6 oz fiberglass to maximize resistance against heel pressure, impacts, and foil-induced stresses.
  • Bottom: one layer of 6 oz fiberglass, reinforced with six staggered 6 oz fiberglass patches around the US boxes to minimize the risk of structural failure in the foil mounting area.
  • Foil box construction: a 35 mm thick, 80 kg/m³ high-density PVC foam insert fully encapsulates the twin US boxes, creating a completely waterproof and exceptionally strong structural block.
  • Pigmented hot coat for reduced weight, improved durability, and a premium finish.
  • Hand-finished matte custom finish to minimize weight while maintaining a clean, fast surface.
  • White nose and blue tail, with a light overall colour to reduce heat absorption compared with darker finishes.

This technology is easily repairable to like-new condition after damage. It highlights every aspect of the shape with a construction that is straightforward, lightweight, durable, and accessible.

Even with its light-coloured finish, an EPS board should never be left unnecessarily exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat.

Buying guide

For whom?

The Lance EPS is designed for riders who want to start surf foiling with a stable, reliable, reassuring board that is sufficiently performant to support progression over time.

It is suitable for those who need paddling, comfort at take-off, and room in the initial phases of flight. Its length makes it easier to return to the peak, position more cleanly, and catch more waves without relying solely on pumping.

The Lance is not a "disposable beginner board." It's a true accessible surf foil board, with a modern shape, a refined hull, faceted rails, a supportive tail, and a lightweight, strong, and easily repairable EPS Foilboard construction. It instills confidence from the start but retains enough potential to progress towards more precise piloting.

It is also aimed at riders who are not yet connecting multiple waves after each take-off. In this case, paddling remains essential: you need to be able to return to the peak, reposition, wait for the right wave, and set off again without being hindered by a board that's too short.

To avoid if....

The Lance EPS is not the best choice if the goal is to have an ultra-compact, very radical, minimal board underfoot, or one dedicated to an already advanced practice of pumping and connections.

It is also not made for those who want to reduce volume too early. In surf foiling, under-sizing to "be like the pros" can hinder progression: less paddling, less stability, fewer waves, more take-off errors.

If the rider already knows how to paddle quickly on a small board, take off cleanly, pump efficiently, and return to the peak without touching down, a more performant and compact shape may become relevant. But to learn quickly, catch many waves, and build a solid foundation, the Lance remains the most logical choice.

For what?

The Lance EPS is designed to learn, progress, and catch as many waves as possible with a board that's easy to launch, stable when paddling, and forgiving at take-off.

Its length provides paddling speed and allows for better positioning. This is essential at spots where you don't automatically return to the peak by pumping, which represents the majority of sessions for a progressing rider.

Its volume and width provide stability under the chest, room at take-off, and more peace of mind when the wave pushes. The wide tail helps the board pop easily, while the double concave to flat hull and faceted rails make touchdowns more progressive.

The Lance allows you to build the basics properly: paddle efficiently, choose a wave, stand up with room, set your stance, let the foil work, and then start piloting with more precision. It gives you the time to learn without hindering progression.

Understanding the GONG range

`

What board size?

The choice of size depends on weight, level, paddling, the spot, and how often the rider returns to the peak by pumping.

To start or progress smoothly, choose a size that retains enough length, volume, and stability to paddle efficiently and succeed in take-offs. A board that's too short might feel more radical on paper, but it significantly reduces the number of waves caught and complicates progression.

The 4’8 is aimed at lighter riders or those already comfortable who want a shorter, livelier, and more progressive Lance, while maintaining the accessible spirit of the shape.

The 5’0 and 5’3 sizes offer an excellent balance between paddling, stability, easy take-off, and progression. These are the most logical choices for the majority of riders who want to learn quickly and keep a board usable for a long time.

The 5’6 provides more comfort, paddling speed, and stability for heavier riders, soft spots, less powerful waves, or riders who want to maximize ease at the start.

Paddling 300 meters on a 5’3 already requires energy. Starting on a board that's too short would be a mistake: less paddling, fewer waves, less success, and more fatigue.

Refer to the size chart to choose the appropriate volume based on weight, level, and usual conditions.

If hesitating between two sizes, opt for the larger one to gain paddling, stability, regularity at take-off, and speed of progression.

Choose the smaller one only if the level, paddling, and spot allow compensating for the loss of length and volume.

Which foil?

If you have never done a sport with a foil, the LANCE will be perfect with an X-Over foil to start surf foiling.

Discover the world of foiling, stabilize flight, perform your first maneuvers, but above all, have a versatile foil that works in all conditions and with all supports!

If you are already practicing a sport with a foil, the Sirus and Curve H ranges will be perfect to start surf foiling.

Each of these high-performance wings has its strengths on which development has been particularly focused:

It is the queen of carving and low-end range (which doesn't mean it can't rev up!). It's also the most comfortable for pumping, allowing for many connections without burning your thighs.

  • The Sirus: wings with the ultimate ratio to fly longer than anyone else in marginal conditions and dock start.

Which stabilizer?

Preferably, we recommend pairing a stabilizer from the same range as your front wing to maintain the most coherent and performant behavior possible.

The Ascent stabilizer will provide more stability and ease to progress smoothly with an accessible high-ratio wing.

The Curve stabilizer will be perfect with a Curve front wing to maximize fluidity, carving, and comfort when pumping.
