Inflatable I-Prone Trainer 18'0
Program
Pure paddling, long swells, and ultra-distance sport/training.
Overview
The I-Prone boards are high-end, purpose-built boards created by pioneering shaper Patrice Guénolé and a team of passionate engineers.
Designed to get you on the water as often as possible, build your fitness and prepare for your best sessions, these paddle boards are making a comeback in the inflatable range with a complete lineup.
The I-Prone Trainer 18’ is the flagship of this range. Long, powerful, and ultra-efficient through the water, it delivers pure glide, built for endurance ++, open water, long swells, and committed sessions, whether paddling on your knees or lying prone.
The 18’ makes you want to look far ahead. It is made for ultra-distance paddling, crossings, offshore training, and long ocean runs. Its exceptional length, combined with a controlled weight, provides unique momentum, continuous glide, and that rare feeling of effortlessly covering miles.
Its premium woven fusion dropstitch construction, reinforced with dual stringers, delivers the rigidity, lightness, and durability required for demanding use and intensive training. Its Velvet Traction Pad Hardbrush provides secure technical grip and the comfort expected both lying down and kneeling: the contact feels smooth and comfortable, even during long, intense sessions. Multiple handles make handling easy both on land and in the water. The I-SUP Race standard, applied to a board dedicated entirely to paddling.
The 18’ opens up another dimension: it maintains speed, absorbs distance, and turns long routes into true endurance glide. You anticipate, set your rhythm, and let it run. You start chasing distance, time, and average speed goals, and the board naturally pushes you toward the perfect run. It is the board for long sessions, rolling swells, open water, and riders who want to go farther, longer, with that unique sensation of endless glide.
Thanks to its volume and length, the 18’ also allows you to carry a waterproof bag on the front for offshore sessions or long adventures. A true essential paddle board, designed for training, ultra-distance, and sessions where the ocean becomes your playground.
The I-Prone Trainer 18’ makes this exceptional format easy to live with every day. You enjoy outstanding glide and momentum, with all the freedom of an inflatable board for transport, storage, and spontaneous adventures.
Like all inflatable boards, everything fits into one bag, where both the board and all your equipment naturally find their place!
With its superb design and carefully selected materials, the I-Prone Trainer 18’ is the dedicated ultra-distance prone paddling board you’ve been looking for. It is truly a beautiful paddleboard offered at a remarkable price point for the premium segment.
OUTLINE
Its long and narrow outline is designed for long-distance glide. Its sleek lines
enhance paddling speed and deliver that endless glide sensation.
Its very narrow pin tail minimizes drag and promotes an ultra-smooth water release. This shape maintains useful width under the rider’s support points for a stable and controlled paddling experience, even during very long sessions. The very fine nose extends the glide, including in choppy conditions.
Rocker
Its low rocker delivers maximum speed. If you want to increase the pace, its streamlined shape accelerates effortlessly.
Pin tail
During committed paddling sessions, you’ll appreciate its smooth, flowing glide, driven by the board’s narrow width and very refined pin tail shape. Direction changes require anticipation, but its fine tail helps maintain an exceptionally clean and efficient line. It is not designed for surfing, but it thrives in long swells, beautiful diagonal runs, and playful open-water conditions.
Rails
The rails are rounded, as on all inflatable boards. But we’ve used this natural shape to help the water flow smoothly along the board. The water does not stick to the rails.
Nose
The fine point nose has been designed to maximize water penetration.
Its buoyancy is carefully balanced around the rider’s support points, with consistent width under the knees and upper body to sustain effort over long distances.
In more demanding conditions, its almost bow-shaped point nose allows it to cut through chop with confidence.

Understanding the GONG range?
What’s the difference between our SUP First, I-SUP and I-Prone inflatable ranges?
What quiver?
The I-Prone boards are purpose-built boards that fit perfectly into a complete quiver. This is your prone cruising board: sleek, fast-gliding and dynamic for improving paddling, rhythm, balance and water-reading skills.
For accessories, think about a suitable leash, a premium US fin, a water bottle or a small waterproof bag depending on your outings. As for boards, it all depends on your surfing style: shortboard for performance surfing, longboard for classic glide, SUP surf for mixing paddling and waves, or I-Surf for lightweight travel.
Which leash?
Your leash is your life jacket, always remember that. Check its condition before every session and replace it every year.
In all cases, we strongly recommend wearing one. To paddle freely without restriction, choose a coiled SUP leash suited to your board length: it stays out of the way while paddling without compromising your safety.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in direct sunlight, especially an inflatable board which heats up very quickly. The materials can soften with heat and begin to delaminate. Never store it behind a car window or near a heat source.
Never let your board get heavily worked by waves, especially near shore. You must protect it from major impacts. A wave that grabs and rolls your board can cause serious damage.
Do not hold onto the leash indefinitely under heavy tension as it may eventually break. Avoid large waves and do not resist excessive force. If it breaks, it is easy to replace but always frustrating.
Stay away from oysters: they are one of the rare shells capable of cutting your board and causing it to deflate within seconds. Extreme caution advised.
Do not let your inflatable board rub continuously against anything. For example, on a boat, your board may move with every wave and rub in the same spot for hours. The material can wear away as if sanded down, eventually creating a hole that will require a patch repair.
Never place the board between yourself and the wave: risk of injury, including a broken nose ;-)
Do not paddle offshore with wind blowing from land to sea, and avoid windy sessions in general as they are rarely enjoyable and always dangerous. Prone paddling is an activity with real risks, even in seemingly calm conditions. Always anticipate these risks and protect yourself accordingly.

What is the GONG I-Prone Trainer 18’?
The I-Prone Trainer 18’ is the ultra-distance model in the I-Prone range. It is the longest, carries the most momentum, and delivers the smoothest glide, designed for long paddling sessions on your knees or lying prone, with high average speeds and continuous glide.
It is built for riders who want to go farther: long outings, committed training, endurance sessions, long swell lines, pushing bumps, extended coastal runs, and long-distance paddling adventures.
This is a pure paddling board, close to the water, made for those who love looking far ahead, maintaining rhythm, and letting the board run free.
Why choose the 18' rather than the 14'?
The 14' is the accessible endurance format: simpler to handle, easier to inflate, more versatile and more obvious for frequent paddling.
The 18' takes everything further: more waterline length, more inertia, more lift, and greater efficiency over long distances. Once underway, it maintains its speed and transforms each stroke into a sustained glide.
It doesn't have the everyday ease of a 14', but it offers a unique feeling when the distance increases, when the swell lines up, or when you want to maintain a clean average speed over time.
Who is the I-Prone Trainer 18’ for?
The 18' is aimed at experienced, athletic practitioners, already comfortable with large formats and able to anticipate their trajectories.
This is not the board to choose for discovering prone paddling. It's a board for those who want a tool for endurance, long-distance paddling, serious physical training, or pure gliding.
It will speak to watermen, regular rowers, surfers, SUP, foil, wing, kiteboarders or coastal rescuers who want to develop a very solid physical base with a demanding, effective and truly different support.
Is the 18" difficult to use?
It's not unstable in the strictest sense, as its length and volume provide plenty of lift and good stability when gliding. However, it does require anticipation.
At 18 feet, changes of direction are wide, maneuvers require careful reading of the water, and the board's inertia demands you think before you act. It's not a lively board; it's a board that's ridden over long distances.
When in motion, it becomes very stable: it holds its line, maintains its speed, and carries the oar. But you have to accept its program: long glide, cadence, anticipated trajectories, distance.
Can it be used in waves or swells?
Yes, but the 18' isn't designed for tight turns. Its purpose in the waves is pure straight-line gliding.
It's designed for an early start, following a wave, connecting with a pushing bump, or taking advantage of a long, slow swell. It loves long diagonals, glassy water, clean swell lines, and sections that can push but don't break abruptly.
The longer the glide, the more interesting the 18' becomes. It doesn't try to turn sharply: it seeks to maintain its speed, prolong its momentum and cover the distance.
What is the benefit of the 18' for physical training?
The 18' is a very serious training tool. It allows you to work on endurance, cardio, shoulders, back, core strength, breathing, cadence and mental strength on long rides.
Its appeal lies in its ability to maintain a consistent glide. You can truly get into a rhythmic mindset: distance, time, average speed, trajectory, and efficiency of movement. Every error in positioning or cadence is felt, but every individual effort is rewarded with a long glide.
It's a board that builds a solid foundation of physical fitness, very useful for all sliding sports.
Can we bring equipment on the 18th?
Yes, that's one of the advantages of this format. With its 295 L capacity, its length and buoyancy, the 18' allows you to carry a lightweight waterproof bag at the front without completely ruining the board's balance.
This is useful for long outings: water, a protected phone, a small snack, a light jacket, or safety equipment depending on the plan. You have to be sensible, as prone paddling is still a sport that requires careful positioning and balance, but the 18' is clearly the most suitable model in the range for this purpose.
This is the board for longer outings and small adventure projects.
Why does an inflatable 18’ make sense?
An 18' rigid prone paddleboard is an exceptional object, but very restrictive: storage, transport, handling, fragility, heavy logistics.
The inflatable completely changes the equation. The I-Prone Trainer 18' makes this format much simpler to live with: it fits in its bag, is easier to transport, can be stored without taking up an entire garage, and allows access to long-distance gliding that would otherwise be reserved for very few practitioners.
GONG developed this range to overcome the classic drawbacks of prone paddleboarding: bulk, fragility, price, transport, and complexity of use. The 18' is its most radical expression: a large, easy-to-own endurance board designed for longer outings, maintaining a consistent pace, and offering a true gliding sensation.
