Paddle and surf on your knees or lying down, whether for fun, fitness, or coastal rescue training.

Overview

The I-Prone boards are high-end, purpose-built designs created by pioneering shaper Patrice Guénolé and a team of passionate engineers.

Designed to get you on the water as often as possible, improve your fitness and prepare you for your best surf sessions, these paddle boards are making a comeback in the inflatable range with a complete lineup.

Compact, lively, and performance-oriented, the 10’6 is the most versatile entry point in the range. You can paddle kneeling or lying down, it genuinely surfs well, and the physical benefits are immediate. All in a format inspired by coastal rescue boards built to ILS standards.

With the 10’6, every launch becomes a complete training session: you paddle, build endurance, refine your technique, and enjoy real kneeling surf capability. You can chain starts together, test yourself on runs, compare sensations, and come back exhausted but smiling. Its compact shape, supportive square tail, and stable outline provide maximum control for working on paddling technique, cardio, core strength, and balance. Physical, fun, and efficient, the 10’6 turns every outing into a complete surf trainer.

Its premium woven fusion dropstitch construction, reinforced with dual stringers, delivers the rigidity, lightness, and durability required for demanding performance and intensive use. The Velvet Traction Pad Hardbrush provides both reliable technical grip and comfort when paddling prone or on your knees: the contact feels pleasant, and the board remains comfortable even during long, intense sessions. Multiple handles make carrying and handling easier both on land and in the water. The quality standard of I-SUP Race boards applied to a board dedicated to prone paddling.

Available in two widths, the 10’6 adapts to your size, skill level, and commitment. The 20” version is narrower, faster, and sportier, while the 22” version is more stable, more buoyant, and more accessible. In both cases, you keep the authentic prone glide feeling with the comfort and convenience of an inflatable board.

The I-Prone Trainer 10’6 is also an easy board to live with. Head out on the water, clear your mind, paddle through wind, glassy conditions, waves, or shorebreak, without the hassle of a fragile, bulky hard board.

Like all inflatable boards, everything fits neatly into one bag, with plenty of room for both the board and all your gear.

With its superb design and carefully selected materials, the I-Prone Trainer 10’6 is the dedicated prone program board you’ve been looking for. It’s truly a beautiful paddleboard offered at a remarkable price point for the premium segment.

Shape
Outline

Its narrow outline is designed for glide and speed while maintaining a stable tail. Its streamlined lines are built to maximize paddling speed and acceleration during take-off. The centered wide point, inspired by rescue boards, provides strong paddling support when lifting your hips to engage the stroke as far forward as possible and drive the board efficiently. Its wide tail delivers stability and confidence in choppy conditions, while also allowing you to truly surf with speed and committed turns, or smoothly round a buoy.

Rocker

Its low rocker delivers maximum speed. If you want to pick up the pace, its streamlined shape accelerates effortlessly.

Square Tail

Its square tail helps lift the nose without losing balance when rounding a buoy or maneuvering through waves while surfing. It stabilizes the board, makes it more accessible, and provides the right amount of comfort and control in choppy water conditions. It also makes surf take-offs easier and gives you the control needed to drive through turns while surfing.

Rails

The rails are rounded, as on all inflatable boards. But we’ve used this natural shape to help the water flow smoothly along the board. The water doesn’t stick to the rails.

Nose

The rounded point nose is sufficiently narrow to maximize water penetration. Despite this, the nose still maintains generous width, allowing you to truly lean on it both while paddling and surfing.

In more demanding conditions, its almost piercing-style nose shape allows you to handle choppy water with confidence.

US Box

The I-Prones are equipped with a central US Box, the essential standard for high-end fins. Since the fin determines 50% of a board’s performance, GONG chose this precise and versatile system for its inflatable SUPs. The result: a huge selection of technical fins available to optimize the board according to your level, your riding program, and the conditions.

Image

Velvet traction pad

The 5 mm GONG Velvet Traction Pad combines comfort, precision, and style. Its velvet texture offers optimal grip, an extra soft feel, and a direct connection to the board.

The result: precise paddling, comfortable support whether kneeling or lying down, and a truly soft contact feel when sessions are long.

Image

Handles

It is equipped with four ergonomic handles designed for grip in the water, quick handling, and surf rescue–style use. Positioned for easy access in action, they allow you to hold the board, control it in whitewater, pull it efficiently, or assist in recovering a rider.

A robust and truly practical setup for a board dedicated to paddling, surf training, and coastal training sessions.

Image

Double-Action Pump

The included high-speed double-action pump is extremely efficient, helping you be the first on the water without exhausting yourself:

  • Double action: air is pumped both when pushing and pulling the handle during the first stage of inflation.
  • Single action: during the final strokes, when inflation becomes more demanding as the board pressure increases, switch to single action mode so the pump inflates only when pushing the handle down. It’s far more comfortable and efficient!

Inflatable I-Prone Technology - Woven Fusion

Thanks to its high-end Woven Dropstitch Fusion inflatable technology, GONG I-Prone boards are sleek, lightweight, highly rigid, and incredibly durable.

The I-Prones feature a double thermo-welded layer on the deck and the hull. It is this membrane that gains in lightness while maintaining the rigidity of a double layer.

The dropstitch used inside our I-Prone is a Woven Dropstitch : it is the best assembly technique of the inflatable world, for best in class performance, rigidity and lightness.

  • Woven Dropstitch technology, the best compromise between weight/stiffness/strength. Combining our historical Double Layer Welded technology with the new Woven Dropstitch, this technology is by far the most reliable, lightest and stiffest.
  • Weight savings of around 20% compared to the classic Double Layer (no glue between the 2 welded PVC layers).
  • Rigidity gain of 30% compared to standard technology.
  • Strength gain: twice as thick as standard technology.
  • Double layer of PVC on the rails.
  • Premium Woven Dropstitch: the slightest irregularity is refused and the batch is resold to low cost factories.
  • High density Dropstitch Woven: with more threads per square meter than a basic Woven, it resists much higher pressures, lasts much longer, and does not present a risk of explosion.
  • Working pressure: 15 PSI. Our Stand Up Paddle Boards are perfectly rigid at 15 PSI. There is no need to overinflate them, but you can mount them at 20 PSI without any problem.
  • Two-year Warranty on all our Inflatable Boards.
  • We keep in stock all the elements that make up your Board because we are manufacturers. So, you can easily repair them and make them last for more than ten years. It’s as simple as repairing a bicycle wheel.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

The I-Prone Trainer 10’6 is designed for riders looking for a compact, maneuverable, and versatile paddleboard with genuine athletic potential.

It’s the ideal board for anyone who wants to get on the water often, build fitness, improve balance, progress in paddling technique, and keep an easy everyday board that remains simple to handle in a wide range of conditions.

What is it for?

For kneeling or prone paddling, kneeling surf sessions, physical training, and technical progression in a compact and playful format.

In its 10’6 size, this paddleboard covers recreational paddling, fitness, surf training, and coastal rescue-inspired use. It’s the most versatile choice in the range for maximizing sessions without stepping up to a larger board.

Which width should you choose for the I-Prone Trainer 10’6?

While anything is possible, here are the main recommended uses:

I-Prone Trainer 10’6 x 20’’:

  • Paddling: All outings under one and a half hours.
  • Surfing: Excellent in waist-high waves.
  • Rider size: Ideally under 70 kg, although your skill level matters more than weight if you can handle this width.

I-Prone Trainer 10’6 x 22’’:

  • Paddling: All outings under one and a half hours.
  • Surfing: Excellent in waist-high waves.
  • Rider size: Ideally under 100 kg, although your skill level matters more than weight if you can handle this width.

Understanding the GONG range?

What’s the difference between our SUP First, I-SUP, and I-Prone inflatable ranges?

What quiver setup?

The I-Prone Trainer 10’6 is a purpose-built board that fits perfectly into a complete quiver. It’s your dedicated paddling, conditioning, and training board for cardio, core strength, balance, water reading, and glide.

For accessories, consider a suitable leash, a premium US-box fin, and depending on your sessions, a water bottle or a small waterproof bag. As for boards, it all depends on your surfing style: a shortboard for performance surfing, a longboard for smooth flowing rides, a SUP surf board to combine paddling and waves, or an I-Surf if you want to travel light.

Which leash?

Your leash is your life jacket, never forget that. Check its condition before every session and replace it every year.

In all cases, we recommend always wearing one. To paddle freely without drag, choose a coiled SUP leash suited to your board length: it stays out of the way while paddling without compromising your safety.

Good to know:

Never leave your board in direct sunlight, especially an inflatable board, which heats up very quickly. Excessive heat can soften the materials and cause delamination. Never store it behind a car window or near any heat source.

Never let your board get heavily pounded in the waves, especially near shore. You must protect it from major impacts and stress. A wave that catches and rolls your board can cause serious damage.

Do not hold onto the leash indefinitely under heavy tension, as it may eventually snap. Avoid large waves and don’t fight against excessive force. If the leash breaks, it’s easy to replace but frustrating.

Stay away from oysters: they are one of the few shells sharp enough to cut your board and make it deflate within seconds. Extreme caution advised.

Do not let your inflatable board rub continuously against surfaces. For example, on a boat, your board may move with every wave and rub in the same place for hours. The material can wear away as if sanded down, eventually creating a hole that will need patching.

Never position the board between yourself and an incoming wave, unless you want a broken nose ;-)

Do not paddle offshore in offshore winds, and avoid windy sessions in general: they are rarely enjoyable and always dangerous. Prone paddling carries real risks, even in seemingly calm conditions. Always anticipate these risks and protect yourself accordingly.

Frequent questions
What is the GONG I-Prone Trainer 10’6?

The I-Prone Trainer 10'6 is a compact inflatable prone paddleboard, designed for paddling on your knees or lying down, for physical training, working on your technique and surfing on your knees in small waves, whitewater or shorebreak.

This isn't your typical I-SUP with a paddle: it's a paddleboard designed for close-to-the-water paddling, in the spirit of prone paddleboarding and coastal rescue. Its short length, buoyant square tail, and narrow width make it the most versatile and surf-trainer-friendly model in the I-Prone range.

Why choose an inflatable prone paddleboard?

Prone paddleboarding is an incredibly versatile sport, but rigid boards are often long, fragile, bulky, difficult to store, and complicated to transport. This is the main obstacle to its popularity.

GONG overcomes these limitations with a high-end inflatable board: easy to store, simple to transport, durable, and delivered with its own wheeled bag, pump, and US fin. The goal is clear: to make prone paddling truly accessible without sacrificing the essentials of glide, performance, and paddling enjoyment.

GONG is behind this unique proposal: a real inflatable prone paddleboard, reliable, simple to live with, high-performing for its size, and usable very often.

Who is the I-Prone Trainer 10’6 for?

The 10'6 is aimed at those who want to discover or regularly practice prone paddling with a compact, stable and versatile board.

It's perfect for building muscle, working on cardio, core strength, shoulders, back, balance, and reading the water. It's also an excellent board for clubs, schools, sporty families, coastal rescue teams, or surfers who want a true surf trainer.

It is the most accessible entry point to the I-Prone range, while remaining a sporty and specific board.

What is the difference between the 10’6 x 20” and the 10’6 x 22”?

The 10'6 x 20" is the thinnest, fastest, and sportiest version. It offers greater efficiency, a better glide, and increased responsiveness. It's best suited to lighter riders, those already comfortable on the water, or those who want a more performance-oriented board.

The 10'6 x 22" board offers greater stability, more buoyancy, and more comfort. It's easier to start paddling, progress, paddle for longer distances, or maintain comfort in choppy water. It will also be more reassuring for heavier paddlers or for club/family/regular training use.

In summary: 20” for glide and performance, 22” for stability and ease.

What is the difference between the 10’6 and the other I-Prone Trainers?

The 10'6 is the compact, maneuverable and versatile model in the range. It's the one that comes closest to a surf trainer, with a real ability to catch small waves early, remain controllable in whitewater and allow for numerous short, physical and fun launches.

The 12' is more geared towards sporty cruising, with more glide and finer handling.

The 14' is the benchmark for endurance, more composed, more inertial, more stable in motion, ideal for long sessions.

The 18' is the ultra-distance format, designed for long glides, long swells, long diagonals and very committed practitioners.

The 10'6 is therefore the simplest, most playful and most versatile choice to enter the I-Prone universe.

Can you really surf with the I-Prone Trainer 10’6?

Yes, it's actually the most surf-friendly model in the I-Prone range. Its compact size, generous square tail, well-distributed volume and buoyant outline make it easy to get going in small waves, whitewater, and in conditions ranging from soft waves to sections that start to push, around waist height.

It allows you to surf on your knees, practice take-offs, trajectories, stances, and wave reading. It's obviously not a classic surfboard, but it's a true trainer surfboard: physical, fun, efficient, and ideal for transforming ordinary conditions into a real session.

What are the physical benefits of prone paddleboarding?

Prone paddling is one of the most complete workouts for watersports. It engages the shoulders, back, arms, core, leg stabilization, cardio, and balance.

Because you paddle on your knees or lying down, without a paddle, everything depends on the body: positioning, rhythm, and reading the water. It's an excellent complement to surfing, SUP, wingfoiling, kitefoiling, or coastal rescue.

The 10'6 makes this training very easy to integrate into daily life: a short outing can already be very intense, very technical and very beneficial.

Is this a sturdy board for regular use?

Yes. The I-Prone Trainer 10'6 uses a premium inflatable construction in woven dropstitch fusion, reinforced by two stringers to provide rigidity, support and durability.

Its Velvet Traction Pad Hardbrush provides comfortable support whether kneeling or lying down. Multiple handles facilitate handling on land, in the water, in the whitewater, or during club use. Its US fin box allows for the mounting of high-performance fins that are easy to replace.

Like any inflatable board, it simply requires common sense: don't let it overheat in the sun, avoid prolonged friction, watch out for oysters, don't let it get rolled in the waves, and always use a suitable leash. When used correctly, it's a reliable, simple, and durable board for many sessions.
