Programme

The progressive performance midlength for catching more waves, getting in earlier and surfing with more range, while keeping a lively, modern and precise feel.

Overview

Some boards help you progress because they give you more time, more glide and more waves. The Devil’s Tongue Mid is exactly in that vein: a progressive performance midlength that helps you surf more often, for longer and with more style.

It takes the easy, fast and playful feel of the Devil’s Tongue, then stretches it out to add more paddling, more natural speed and a broader glide. You get in earlier, carry speed better and make it through sections with more fluidity.

Underfoot, the feeling is incredibly smooth: the board draws its line, accelerates, keeps its rhythm and invites you to lay down longer carves. You gain comfort and flow, without ending up on a soft or passive board.

The Devil’s Tongue Mid still feels alive. Its shape keeps enough responsiveness, precision and bite to carve, build speed and switch rails with energy. The extra length brings more range, but the ride stays modern and active.

It’s an ideal board for progressing with real efficiency: catching more waves, reading sections better, surfing more off the rail and building confidence in your lines. It makes every session easier, while still leaving plenty of room to push your level.

With its Single Tab tri-quad setup, it also lets you fine-tune the feel: thruster for more control and precision, quad to maximise glide, speed and acceleration.

The Devil’s Tongue Mid is made for surfers looking for a board that’s easy to get going, fluid, high-performance and built to last in the quiver. More paddling, more flow, more style: a modern midlength to keep progressing without ever getting bored.

Shape
OUTLINE

The outline is stretched to deliver more paddling speed, more glide and better momentum retention. The extra length helps you get in earlier, draw out your lines for longer and surf with more range than on a classic Devil’s Tongue.

The usable surface area stays under control to keep the board lively underfoot. You gain comfort and efficiency without ending up with a midlength that’s too wide, too heavy or too passive.

ROCKER

The rocker matches the midlength programme with a curve designed to glide, build speed and stay manoeuvrable. It helps maintain speed through softer sections, while keeping enough curve to put the board on rail.

This combination delivers a smooth yet lively feel. The board draws its line naturally, but still has the ability to change direction, build speed and carve with precision when you push through your turns.

BOTTOM CONTOUR

The hull is designed to turn length into usable speed. It helps the board build speed quickly, maintain drive underfoot and get through sections with less effort.

The work under the tail preserves good rail-to-rail roll, essential to avoid that stiff midlength feel. You still get a fluid board, but one that can react quickly when you need to adjust your line or commit to a carve.

TAIL

The tail stays dynamic to deliver speed build-up and responsiveness under the back foot. It keeps the board’s length from feeling like a constraint and lets you maintain an active feel through your turns.

It also provides the support you need to push through your turns, build speed after a carve and keep your rhythm on the wave. The length brings the drawn-out lines, the tail keeps the board lively.

RAILS

The rails are thin and sharp to keep plenty of bite despite the elongated format. They let you put the board on rail, hold a clean carve and maintain real precision through your lines.

That’s what gives the Devil’s Tongue Mid its performance character. It brings more glide and comfort than a short board, while keeping serious hold for committed surfing.

Single Tab connection: simple, direct and solid

The Single Tab system features a single, extended base on each fin. This design creates a solid connection with the fin box, making installation simple, fin changes quick, and power transfer exceptionally direct.

On the water, the benefits are immediate. The board responds instantly, the fins work without unwanted play, and every input translates into drive, grip and control. This is especially valuable on high performance boards, where precise feedback is essential at high speeds and through committed turns.

The Single Tab system also makes it easy to fine tune your setup for different conditions. Changing fin size, template or flex lets you refine the board's feel in just a few moments. It provides a clean, durable and efficient connection, allowing you to unlock the full potential of the shape.

Good to know: Single Tab fin boxes are only compatible with Single Tab fins.

Key benefits:

  • Simple installation and quick fin changes.
  • Direct connection for immediate response underfoot.
  • Excellent drive, grip and control through powerful turns.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

For surfers who want to catch more waves, get in earlier and surf with more range without switching to a soft or purely comfort-oriented board. The Devil’s Tongue Mid delivers the paddle power and glide of a midlength, with genuinely modern handling.

For intermediate surfers who want to progress with a board that is easy to get going, smooth and high-performing. Its length gives you more margin on take-off, helps you read the wave better and lets you work on longer lines with more confidence.

For experienced surfers looking for a fun, fast and elegant board, capable of maintaining flow, drive and speed build-up in everyday waves. A board to surf longer, with more style, without losing responsiveness underfoot.

What for?

To gain paddle power, glide and continuity. The Devil’s Tongue Mid gets going early, carries speed better and lets you get through sections with less effort than a shorter board.

To surf with more range. Its midlength format encourages you to set the rail, draw out your carves, keep your rhythm and make the most of the board’s natural speed. You surf more fluidly, more cleanly, with better wave reading.

To keep progressing over time. It makes every session easier, while still retaining enough liveliness, precision and speed build-up to keep pushing your surfing as your level improves.

What board size?

The Devil’s Tongue Mid should be chosen to make the most of its programme: more length, more paddle power, more glide. The goal is to gain efficiency without losing the dynamic handling of the shape.

If you’re looking for a progression board, don’t go too small. A well-sized board will let you get in earlier, catch more waves and build cleaner lines.

If you’re an experienced surfer looking for a more performance-oriented board, choose a volume that matches your usual references, without overdoing the litres. The length already brings plenty of comfort, too much volume could make the board less responsive.

Between two sizes, choose the bigger one to maximise paddle power, stability and take-off ease. Choose the smaller one for more manoeuvrability, better speed build-up and greater precision through your foot pressure.

What are the ideal waves?

Size: from small waves to medium waves, depending on your level, build and spot.

Power: it performs best in soft to average waves, with enough drive and control to stay high-performing when the wave picks up.

Type: it loves everyday waves: soft sections, clean or slightly imperfect waves, long faces that are easy to read. That’s where its paddle power, glide and flow really come into their own.

What construction?

The Devil’s Tongue Mid makes perfect sense in an EPS construction, because its programme calls for light weight, efficiency and good response underfoot.

EPS enhances ease of take-off, speed build-up and the board’s liveliness. You get the glide of a midlength while keeping a reactive board that feels great to pump and is easy to roll from rail to rail.

It’s an ideal construction for a progressive board: more paddle power, more glide, more speed build-up, with enough performance to keep progressing.

What fin setup?

The Devil’s Tongue Mid comes with a Single Tab tri-quad setup. This setup lets you clearly tune the board’s behaviour to suit the conditions and the style you’re after.

As a thruster, it gains control, precision and pivot. This is the setup to favour for working on your turns, keeping a more directional feel and pushing harder through your foot pressure with more hold.

As a quad, it maximises glide, speed and speed build-up. It’s the ideal setup to make the most of the midlength format, draw longer lines, maintain momentum and get through soft sections with ease.

To sum it up simply: thruster for control and precision, quad for glide, speed build-up and longer lines.

Which shape should you choose?

Choose the Devil’s Tongue Mid if you want a modern, progressive and high-performance midlength. A board made to catch more waves, get in earlier, surf with more range and keep real progression potential.

Its stretched outline brings glide. Its length delivers efficiency. Its fine rails keep bite. Its dynamic tail maintains speed build-up. Its tri-quad setup lets you adapt the feel to the wave and to what you’re in the mood for that day.

The Devil’s Tongue Mid is therefore the right choice for surfers who want more paddle power, more flow and more style, without giving up lively, precise and high-performance handling.

Frequent questions
What exactly is the Devil’s Tongue Mid?

The Devil’s Tongue Mid is an evolving performance midlength: an elongated version of the Devil’s Tongue, designed to deliver more paddling power, more glide and more range, while retaining a modern, lively feel.

Who is the Devil’s Tongue Mid for?

It is aimed at intermediate to advanced surfers who want to catch more waves, get in earlier and progress with a smooth, fast and high-performance board, without ending up on a dull board or one that is only comfortable.

What’s the difference compared with the classic Devil’s Tongue?

The classic Devil’s Tongue is more compact, more direct and more playful. The Devil’s Tongue Mid adds length for better paddling, more glide, smoother flow and more style through your lines.

Is it an easy board?

Yes, it makes paddling, take-off and wave reading easier thanks to its midlength format. But it still has enough rail, speed build-up and responsiveness to be surfed actively and support real progression.

What kind of waves does it work best in?

It performs best in small to medium waves, from soft to average, with sections to link together. It’s an ideal board for everyday waves when you want to get in early, keep your speed and surf with flow.

Should you choose it with plenty of volume?

Not necessarily. Its length already brings plenty of comfort when paddling and on the take-off. Choose a sensible volume for your level: enough to catch more waves, but not so much that you lose responsive handling.

Which fin setup should you use?

The Devil’s Tongue Mid comes in a triquad Single Tab setup. In thruster, it gains control, precision and pivot. In quad, it maximises glide, speed and speed build-up so you can draw your line for longer.

Can it stay in your quiver as your level progresses?

Yes, that’s exactly the whole point of this board. It helps you progress, while still keeping enough performance, drive and precision to stay interesting for a long time, even as your level improves.
