Feedback from Clément, U-16 Surf-Freestyle World Champion, about the GONG Boom which has been his go-to choice for several months now in free sessions and competitions.
“What struck me first was the lightness of the boom. A treat when free-flying and really comfortable when sailing. You immediately feel in control with the boom in your hands and the trick possibilities open up with each session. The boom allowed me to progress a huge deal.
What I like about the boom is that we can move our hands however we want. So nice in the jibes and tacks. In freestyle, going blind or backwind for example is much more intuitive. To innovate in freestyle the boom is just perfect with tricks like the Back Mobe and all the one-handed tricks. It really offers a great possibility of tricks.
Having used it in all types of conditions, the performance of the boom is even superior to any other system I would say. The whole kit is light and responsive. In freefly we forget it like we would forget about textile handles. The boom also leaves a greater margin for error than 2 handles, which makes it very pleasant to sail with.”
