Overview

The Ypra Surf Freestyle V3 Atmo Pro Team Series is the carbon stab built to blend committed freestyle and radical surf in one single setup.

Its very short span, moderate aspect ratio and forward centre of lift deliver an ultra lively foil in pitch, roll and yaw. It turns incredibly tight, lifts off early and turns every input into instant pop.

The powerful profile brings plenty of front foot pressure, low-end range and strong torque. As soon as the rider eases off the front foot pressure, the foil rises vertically. After a landing, repop is immediate, letting you link moves without waiting for a long speed build-up.

Its span remains slightly longer than that of the pure Ypra Freestyle. It therefore keeps more control through bottom turns, fast carves and committed wave riding phases. It is a true radical surf stab, not just a stab that only wants to lift off.

The elliptical outline concentrates lift in the centre. The relatively straight leading edge and forward-swept tips move the centre of lift forwards, artificially shorten the aircraft’s functional length and make its vertical liveliness even more radical.

The highly curved trailing edge, zero dihedral and the absence of winglets completely free up the foil in snaps, drifts and broken carves. You can land sideways, slide through the water, correct instantly and head off in another direction.

This freedom demands skill. The Ypra Surf Freestyle does not smooth out lines or erase mistakes. It rewards committed input, precise control and an aggressive, reactive, unstructured style.

In wing foiling and kite foiling, it lets you link airs, rotations, loops, carves and tricks with a compact, explosive foil.

In surf foiling, it is aimed at highly technical surfers who want to tighten their carves, throw more 360s and send airs off every section.

The 3K Texalium Purple clear prepreg carbon construction delivers the stiffness, precision and strength needed for powerful take-offs and heavily loaded landings. The reinforced fuselage further increases its durability under intensive use.

The Ypra Surf Freestyle V3 Atmo Pro Team Series is therefore the stab for carving radically, popping hard, repopping instantly and linking moves with an ultra lively, free foil that can still hold a proper surf carve.

ASPECT RATIO 7.4

The moderate 7.4 aspect ratio balances efficiency, compactness and freedom on every axis.

It keeps enough surface area to deliver low-end range, solid front foot pressure and powerful pop, without the rail-to-rail inertia of a higher aspect stab.

The foil stays lively in roll, quick to pivot and perfectly suited to very tight manoeuvres.

ADVANCED OUTLINE

The elliptical outline concentrates lift in the centre to maintain a strong presence underfoot.

The relatively straight leading edge and forward-swept tips shift the centre of lift forwards. This geometry artificially shortens the aircraft's functional length and greatly increases pitch responsiveness.

As soon as the rider puts it on rail, the foil immediately tightens the carve and makes the drive more radical.

HIGHLY CURVED TRAILING EDGE

The highly curved trailing edge really frees up the foil in yaw.

It makes snaps, drifts, instant corrections and abrupt line changes easier.

The stab supports aggressive, unstructured riding without trying to smooth out the carves.

POWER PROFILE

The powerful profile generates strong torque, plenty of front foot pressure and very good low-end performance.

The foil lifts hard as soon as the rider releases the front foot, producing immediate, highly vertical pop.

After a landing or a loss of speed, that presence underfoot lets you build speed and pop again without delay.

NO DIHEDRAL OR WINGLETS

The absence of dihedral maximises vertical power and frees up the foil in yaw, with no limiting trimming effect.

The absence of winglets completely unlocks snaps and lets you land sideways, skid through the water or break a carve with no unwanted feedback.

This freedom increases radicality, but demands more precision than a Curve, Slalom or Freestyle stab.

VERY SHORT WINGSPAN

The very short span increases pitch responsiveness, tightens carving radiuses and maximises pop and repop.

It remains slightly longer than the pure Ypra Freestyle one to retain more stability through bottom turns and high-speed carves.

The reinforced fuselage handles heavy load-ups, rapid angle changes and very hard landings.

SUPERLOCK SELF-LOCKING SYSTEM

The V3 SuperLock self-locking connection was engineered to ensure a perfect fit between the stabilizer and fuselage, even after hours on the water. The more load applied to the rear of the foil, the more the joint mechanically locks itself into the fuselage.

This design delivers a direct gain in stiffness, precision, and silent functioning. The foil stays perfectly secured, with no unwanted play, even under heavy loads in turns, pumping, accelerations or hard landings. Forces are transferred more efficiently, handling becomes more precise, and the feeling under your feet remains consistent throughout the session.

The connection requires only two screws underneath the stabilizer. Assembly is quick, simple, and practical for everyday use. Swapping stabilizers takes only a few moments, without extra screws or a complicated setup.

The locking angle has been carefully engineered to provide maximum self-locking under load while still allowing easy disassembly after your session. Even after a demanding ride, the stabilizer can be removed from the fuselage effortlessly.

This self-locking concept has already proven itself over several years on our V2 and V3 stabilizers. It is a genuine mechanical advantage: simple, fast, stiff, reliable, and built to last.

A Higher-Performance Fuselage Shape

One of the key developments in this range is the complete redesign of our foils to enhance both their structural integrity and hydrodynamic performance.

Its new rounded profile delivers a 12% improvement in glide efficiency, while the thicker section near the stabilizer increases the foil's overall strength and stiffness.

Every V3 Atmo shape is designed in 3D, digitally optimized, thoroughly tested by the GONG Team, and manufactured with an unprecedented level of precision. Profiles, thickness distribution, transitions, fillets, connection areas, and trailing edges have all been refined to reduce parasitic drag, improve water flow, and maximize efficiency.

Our new production facility enables manufacturing in an ultra-clean, highly controlled environment with a level of precision approaching that of the world's leading aerospace, motorsport, and high-performance composite industries. Who is it for?

The Ypra Surf Freestyle V3 Atmo Pro Team Series is aimed at advanced to pro riders who want to mix radical surf, committed freestyle and aerial tricks with a single stab.

You need solid technical skills to make the most of its very lively pitch, lack of winglets and freedom in yaw. This stab does not smooth out imprecision: it amplifies your inputs and rewards decisive riding.

It is particularly well suited to riders who like short lines, snaps, drifts, rotations and fast transitions between surf and freestyle.

What for?

In wave riding, it excels in multi-peak, onshore or shifting waves, where you need to adjust quickly, pivot tightly and make the most of every little section.

In fast waves, it lets you hold big bottom turns and carve at high speed, but its pitch requires you to stay precise at the bottom of the wave.

In freestyle, its powerful profile, forward centre of lift and very short wingspan deliver instant, vertical pop. The repop is just as effective for linking moves.

In surf foiling, it is aimed at highly technical riders who want to make their riding more radical, tighten their carves, throw more 360s and send airs.

In kite foiling, its short wingspan is a perfect match for a very compact riding style. It lets you link carves, loops, big jumps and complex tricks with plenty of freedom.

In pumping, it is very effective for building speed again after a manoeuvre, a landing or a soft section. On the other hand, it is not designed for dock starts, distance or pure pumping, even if some riders will use it just for the fun of its lines.

Avoid it if...

Avoid this stab if you are looking for smooth, progressive and very settled handling. A Curve or a Slalom will give you more stability and smooth out your lines better.

For pure freestyle with a foil that only wants to take off, the Ypra Freestyle will be even more radical and more compact.

For glide, average speed or long-distance pumping, choose a Fluid, a Veloce or a Trail stab depending on your programme.

What size?

The choice mainly depends on the size of the front wing, the craft, your level and how much front foot pressure you are looking for.

A larger stab brings more front foot pressure, more low-end range, more pronounced pop and more control. It also adds drag and slightly tones down the foil's freedom.

A smaller stab frees up more speed, rail-to-rail and rotations. It reduces front foot pressure and requires more precision on landings and in slow phases.

Match a size that is consistent with your front wing. A stab that is far too small would make the foil nose down, reduce its balance and create a false sense of liveliness at the expense of speed and control.

What’s the difference between the Surf Freestyle and the Freestyle?

The Surf Freestyle is slightly longer and keeps more stability through bottom turns and fast carves. The Freestyle is even more compact and is all about accelerating, popping, and popping again.

Is it suited to wave riding?

Yes, that’s one of its two main uses. It turns incredibly tight, reacts instantly and lets you surf aggressively in peaky or shifting waves.

Can it be used for surf foiling?
