GEAR: WHAT FRONT WING SIZE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE FOR PUMP FOILING?

Choose your size according to the run you are aiming for.

Your weight matters, but it is not enough to choose a front wing. First ask yourself what you want to do: nail your dock starts, turn tight, stay comfortable over distance or break records.

In pump foiling, rider weight is actually a very secondary factor when choosing the size of your front wing. What matters more is what that size means for pumping cadence, lift and the maneuverability of your setup.

Find our recommendations below.

One program, one goal, one size

Here are our recommendations for each model:

  • Trail Perf Series: since this front wing is designed for learning, we recommend choosing a generous size. Most beginners will be perfectly equipped with a Trail XL. Its lift gives you more margin during takeoff and when pumping back up to speed.

The L size is aimed either at lighter riders or experienced pump foilers who want to take advantage of the Trail’s lift for technical starts such as dead starts.

The XXL size is reserved for heavier riders (90 kg and above).

  • Sirus Perf Series: the L size is better suited to fast runs or versatile use (wing foiling/SUP foiling/surf foiling). For pure pumping, the XL is the most accessible size. It is ideal for discovering pumping with more glide while keeping a wing that is easy to launch. Move up to XXL if your priority is extending your runs. The 3XL delivers exceptional glide for larger riders, with a wingspan of 186 cm.

  • Trail Team Series: the XL supports progression with greater efficiency. An experienced rider who likes the Trail for technical starts can choose the L for more dynamism and glide.

  • Sirus Team Series: thanks to its new V3 Atmo shape, the Sirus extends its range of use at both the low and high end. The smaller sizes remain aimed at fast pumping or versatile use. The XL offers an excellent balance of glide, lift and control. The XXL provides even more lift for longer pumping runs.

  • Hyper Trail Pro Team Series: in competition slalom, an explosive rider can choose the S, regardless of weight, to prioritize speed and maneuverability. To keep its playful character over longer courses, choose the XL or XXL. Go for the 3XL for longer-distance fun with a smoother pumping cadence.

  • Supra Trail Pro Team Series: the XL is designed for dynamic pumping over medium distances. To chase records, go for the 3XL or 4XL, which provide more glide for long-distance runs but are more technical to maneuver.

  • Ultra Trail Pro Team Series: to target a distance record, choose the 5XL, the largest size. Its wingspan and program require solid takeoff and pumping technique. The smaller sizes are designed for higher-intensity runs with huge speed and glide.

If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one if you want to make takeoffs easier and keep more margin. Save the smaller one for fast runs, when your level and explosiveness allow you to make the most of it.

In short:

  • Choose sizes M to L for sprinting, short high-intensity runs and maximum maneuverability.
  • XL is generally the best choice for runs lasting from 1 minute to several dozen minutes. It lets you get into it without being immediately cooked, gives you time to adjust your cadence and makes it easier to stack up multiple runs.
  • XXL provides more lift for medium-distance runs or heavier riders.
  • When choosing sizes 3XL to 5XL, the goal is very long runs with record-breaking glide.
