Taking off early in light wind with the Sirus
“So what is the Sirus Team like in light wind?!?
Back in 2023, when I was getting into wing foiling on lakes and rivers, GONG released the Cruzader and then the giant foils... Being in an area where the wind is light most of the time, first one (Cruzader 7’6) and then the other (Curve H 4XL) allowed me to double and then triple the number of sessions I could get...
...with no real V3 alternative on the foil side, since the Sirus were essentially reworked V2 molds and the larger sizes had been dropped from the wind ranges, I was eagerly waiting for something new for ultralight conditions.
My requirements: at the very least match my old 4XL so I could easily lift my 82 kg in 5 to 6 knots, with a new constraint (a serious pec and shoulder injury), glide, stay maneuverable and give me sessions when, at first glance, there is nothing to ride.
After a lot of hesitation, I trusted my instincts and ordered a Sirus XXL Team...
...and WOW!!! It lifts, it glides, it accelerates, and it has the potential to go fast too (I pushed it to 17 knots “one-handed”). The maneuverability is really cool, and the maneuvers are clean and fluid.
