Wing Droid Aramid - Team Series - Purple
Description
Programme
Aramid, pop and speed to go hard in surf-freestyle.
Overview
The Droid Aramid 2027 is a fast, responsive and ultra-precise wing, designed for riders who want serious acceleration, loaded jumps and to push surf-freestyle with maximum commitment. Its compact shape and Aramid construction create an immediate sense of connection between rider and wing.
As soon as you sheet in, the power comes on strong and stays perfectly readable. The forward, concentrated draft delivers solid support to accelerate, load up for pop and build speed hard, while the surface area shifted forward provides the torque needed to maintain speed and extend aerial phases.
The Aramid leading edge and strut take this shape to another level. Their stiffness and low inertia transmit every rider input directly: pumping is sharp, acceleration is immediate and handling is extremely precise. The wing stays composed as the load increases and keeps a very direct feel through committed phases.
The refined rear two-thirds and open tips free up the glide as speed builds. The Droid maintains clean, progressive pull, points upwind efficiently and snaps back into place very quickly through rotations, transitions and changes of line. Its refined tips further enhance that compact, lively wing feel around the rider.
The boom-specific strut extends that precision with a triple-section design, a tapered diameter and a profile maintained over much of its length. The boom provides a continuous, direct grip, ideal for moving your hands instantly, finding your grip again in rotations and staying in control right through the landing.
The Droid Aramid 2027 brings together pop, speed, responsiveness and precision in a Team Series wing built to turn every input into performance and go hard in all conditions.
Strut
The Droid Aramid 2027 features an Aramid strut, designed entirely around the boom to deliver direct, precise and highly responsive handling. Its triple-section construction progressively supports the load, while its diameter continuously tapers towards the rear. The profile is maintained over around 45% of the strut, then the rear third thins out significantly to free up glide. Aramid’s low deformation allows this geometry to remain very stable when the wing is loaded, with immediate transmission of the rider’s input.

Profile
The Droid Aramid 2027 features a slightly tighter profile at the front to slice through the air more efficiently and unlock acceleration. The draft is focused at a precise point to deliver solid, perfectly readable power through the boom. Over the rear two thirds, the profile is noticeably refined to lighten back-hand pressure and support the build-up of speed. The Aramid construction holds this geometry precisely under load to keep the wing locked-in, fast and highly direct, with progressive sheeting in and out that is easy to control.

OUTLINE
The Droid Aramid 2027 keeps the same wingspan and overall chord, while redistributing the surface area towards the centre and the front of the wing. This geometry delivers well-directed pull, torque and sharp acceleration, while preserving the compact format that defines the Droid's DNA. The Aramid structure reinforces this outline's stability under load and makes power transfer more direct: pumping is crisp, the wing loads up quickly for pop, and the wing retains the lift needed to support jumps.

Tips
The tips on the Droid Aramid 2027 feature a natural opening that lets them spill more effectively under load and free up the airflow. Their refined shape reduces inertia at the extremities, while the Aramid structure boosts the wing’s precision and stability in high-speed phases. The Droid therefore gains in glide, upwind ability and liveliness, with fast rotations and very direct repositioning through transitions, tricks and surf.

Buying guide
Who is it for?
The Droid Aramid 2027 is aimed at autonomous riders looking for a high-performance, fast and precise wing for freestyle, jumps, committed freeride and surf-freestyle.
It really comes into its own when you start actively working the wing: loading up before a jump, pumping hard, accelerating, pointing high or linking rotations quickly. The Aramid structure makes every input very direct and instantly readable.
What for?
Its main programme is surf-freestyle and jumps, with a compact shape, plenty of pop and excellent freedom through rotations.
It is also highly effective for fast freeride and in light wind thanks to its direct pumping, torque and ability to build speed quickly. Its slippery profile and refined tips also help preserve plenty of mobility in the waves.

Why choose an aramid construction?
The Aramid leading edge and strut give the Droid a light, stiff structure that is particularly stable under load. The wing transmits rider input directly and holds its shape precisely as pressure builds.
On the water, this translates into sharp pumping, strong acceleration, greater precision and very direct pop.
At the same time, the Triple Ripstop canopy maintains a progressive and comfortable response. The Droid Aramid therefore delivers an excellent balance of high performance, control and ease of use. The Aramid Team Series does indeed combine an Aramid structure with a Triple Ripstop canopy, unlike the Pro Team Series versions, which use stiffer canopy materials.
Understanding the Droid range
Choose the Droid Perf Series if you want the Droid shape in an accessible, durable and versatile Dacron construction.
Choose the Droid Aramid if you are looking for more structural stiffness, precision, pop and speed, while keeping the smooth feel of Triple Ripstop.
Choose the Droid Light if your priority is above all lightness in hand and efficiency from the very first breath of wind, with a wing that is especially lively in surf-freestyle.
Choose a Droid Aramid X / Pro Team Series if you want an even more direct and radical response thanks to a canopy that is also heavily stiffened. The Droid Aramid Team Series remains the preferred choice for combining high performance and comfort across a wide range of conditions.
What size should you choose?
Choose your size according to your weight, level, the wind, and the efficiency of your foil and board.
Thanks to its excellent pumping transfer and quick acceleration, the Droid Aramid lets you use its surface area efficiently. So avoid systematically oversizing it in search of power: a well-matched size will retain more speed, maneuverability and freedom through rotations.
A larger size will be interesting for maximising early take-off in light wind. A more compact size will be especially enjoyable in freestyle and when the wind picks up.
Refer to the wind range chart to choose your size precisely.

Which foil with the Droid Aramid?
In the V3 Atmo range, the Fluid makes for a particularly coherent match-up. Fast, lively and maneuverable, it complements the dynamic character of the Droid with rail-to-rail, pop and very punchy transitions.
For a more accessible and versatile approach, the Curve V3 Atmo brings more ease while still delivering carving and glide.
To focus more clearly on high-performance freestyle, the Ypra Freestyle V3 Atmo is the most specialised pairing: speed before take-off, pop, control in jumps and precise handling at high speed. It uses the Micro V3 Atmo fuselage.
Which board with the Droid Aramid?
The Stunt Hollow Carbon is a natural choice for a surf-freestyle programme. Its shape is designed for sending tricks while keeping freedom in the carves: a very coherent match with the dynamic versatility of the Droid Aramid.
The Hyperloop Hollow Carbon is the dedicated choice for pure freestyle. Its Hollow construction greatly reduces inertia and delivers a particularly direct response in rotations, pop and foot repositioning.
For a programme more oriented towards surf and freeride, the Lemon Hollow Carbon brings a compact and playful approach.
If your priority becomes light wind and glide on take-off, a longer board from the Cruzader Point family will let you make the most of the Droid’s efficiency with less effort on take-off. The 2027 Hollow range notably includes a Cruzader Point LW dedicated to light wind.
Which boom should you choose?
The Droid Aramid is designed exclusively around a boom and remains compatible with GFS V2 and GFS V3 systems.
The Carbon Boom offers the best balance of stiffness, lightness, precision and versatility. It is the obvious choice for getting the most out of the Droid Aramid across all its programmes.
The Full Carbon Boom pushes the connection even further. Its full carbon construction delivers maximum stiffness and extremely direct handling, particularly interesting when you are looking for absolute precision in freestyle.
The 2-Piece Carbon Boom prioritises ease of transport while maintaining a stiff connection once assembled. It is especially practical for travel and storage. Current generations notably include standard GFS V3 CLIP IN versions and 2-piece removable versions.
Which leash?
A 5’5 to 8’ wing leash will suit the vast majority of uses.
A short leash lets you recover the wing quickly after a fall, which is particularly useful in freestyle when attempts come one after another. A longer leash leaves more distance between the foil and the wing during a fall.
Check its condition regularly and replace it as soon as it shows signs of wear. The leash is an essential part of your safety setup.
Do not leave your wing flapping unnecessarily in the wind at the end of the leash, and never try to hold the wing back abruptly by the leash in the waves.
Harness or not?
The Droid works perfectly without a harness for freestyle, surf and highly mobile sessions, where you want to be able to move the wing freely and change position quickly.
For fast freeride, long reaches or when you are riding well powered, on the other hand, a harness significantly reduces arm fatigue and lets you use the wing’s power for longer.
All our wings feature dedicated attachment points for harness lines. Start with a generous length to make hooking in and out easier, then gradually reduce the length as you gain experience.
Go for a lightweight, low-bulk harness as well as a thin line dedicated to wing use. The goal is to relieve the arms without limiting freedom of movement, especially in transitions and tricks.
Lines with 24 to 28 cm between the strut and the bottom of the V will be perfect. A length of 30 to 32 cm makes getting started easier. A small-diameter rope and thin sheath are essential because windsurf lines, for example, are too heavy and stiff, and therefore dangerous in tacks and other tricks.
Need a spare bladder?
It is not essential for everyday use, but having a compatible bladder can be useful when travelling or if you ride far from a repair point. Bladders, valves and other maintenance parts are available separately to extend the life of your wing. A repair kit is also supplied to deal quickly with small punctures.
What mistakes should you avoid?
Do not choose the Droid Aramid just because it sits higher in the range. Its real value appears when your level allows you to make the most of its precision, pumping and direct response.
Also avoid choosing too large a size to compensate for a foil or board that is not well suited to light wind. A coherent setup will be far more effective than a systematically oversized wing.
Finally, respect the recommended inflation pressures. An Aramid structure offers excellent shape retention, so there is no need to try to artificially increase its stiffness by overinflating the wing.
Already equipped: why add a Droid Aramid?
The Droid Aramid really comes into its own if you already know the Droid and want to clearly step up the level of connection and performance.
You feel the difference from the very first pumps: direct pumping, a wing that stays very settled as speed builds, immediate pop and precision in line changes. The Aramid structure allows the Droid shape to fully express its potential, while the Triple Ripstop maintains a sufficiently progressive response to stack up sessions and attempts.
This is the Droid to choose when your priority becomes speed, pop, precision and high-performance surf-freestyle, with a level of demand that still remains manageable day to day.

5 windows

The DROID Aramid 2027 incorporates five windows distributed throughout the sail to maintain good environmental awareness without disrupting the wing's behavior.
Their position allows them to better anticipate other practitioners, obstacles and trajectories during starts, transitions or close navigation.
A real plus for learning, progressing and navigating with peace of mind, while keeping a wing light, balanced and easy to pilot.
Semi-rigid downwind textile handle

Almost rigid, the downwind handle offers a more precise and direct grip to improve wing control in freefly and surfing.
It allows for better one-handed control of the wing while maintaining enough flexibility to remain comfortable during windless sailing phases.
The new oval seams and added reinforcements at the anchor points distribute stress more effectively on the leading edge, in order to improve the overall durability.
The Dyneema leash attachment is now positioned on the underside of the handle. This keeps the leash better away from the grip area and less of an obstruction to the hands during freeflying.
Rapid inflation with the One Pump Max Flow system

The leading edge and center strut are connected by the One Pump system to quickly inflate the entire wing from a single valve . Once the wing is pressurized, the clip allows the two bladders to be isolated to maintain the wing's buoyancy in case of damage to the strut or leading edge.
A second valve is integrated into the ski to speed up deflation. Simply open the valves on the leading edge and the ski to quickly release the air and facilitate folding and storage.
To preserve the wing's structure, always deflate the strut at the same time as the leading edge and do not leave the strut under pressure on its own.
Fiberglass micro-slats

Fiberglass micro-battens are integrated into the trailing edge to effectively limit flapping and maintain the profile to the tip of the sail.
They stabilize the trailing edge, improve profile stability and promote cleaner flow to maintain a precise and efficient wing, even as speed increases.
Lightweight, durable and easily replaceable , they also allow you to easily maintain your wing and extend its performance over time.
Camera safety loops

Discreet nylon safety ties are integrated on each tip and near the strut to secure your camera when mounted on the leading edge or slat with a suitable mount.
Their positioning is designed to keep the leash out of the camera's field of view and prevent any interference while riding. This allows you to film your sessions from multiple angles, maintaining a clean and secure setup, without the risk of losing your camera in case of a fall.
Repair kit
A repair kit is included with your wing to perform common repairs and extend its lifespan.
It includes patches adapted to bladders and fabrics , practical for quick intervention in case of small perforation, cut or tear.
Carrying bag
The wing comes with a practical and robust carrying bag, designed to facilitate storage, transport and storage between sessions.
Its generous size allows for easy storage of the folded wing and its accessories, while its compact design simplifies transport to the spot and minimizes bulk in the vehicle or at home. Please note that the bag is not compatible with a wing that has the boom attached.
10 years of spare parts
At GONG, durability is part of the design specifications from the outset. But making a wing last also means being able to maintain and repair it over time.
That is why we are committed to offering the components necessary for the maintenance of our wings for 10 years : bladders, valves, fabrics and specific parts remain accessible to extend the lifespan of your equipment as much as possible.
If needed, you have two options:
- Our GONG workshop can diagnose your wing and carry out the necessary repairs.
- Spare parts are available to order so you can carry out maintenance yourself or entrust the repair to your usual workshop.
If a product is temporarily unavailable, we will do our best to restock it as soon as possible.
A well-maintained wing remains efficient for longer, retains its value and can continue to sail for many years, including second-hand.

Delivery
Who is the Droid Aramid 2027 for?
The Droid Aramid 2027 is aimed at independent riders looking for a fast, responsive and highly precise wing for surf freestyle, jumps, committed freeride and high-speed riding.
It really comes into its own when you start actively working the wing: loading up before a jump, pumping hard, accelerating or linking rotations. Its Aramid construction delivers a particularly direct connection between the rider’s input and the wing.
What is the difference between the 2027 Droid Aramid and the 2026 Droid Aramid?
The 2027 Droid Aramid keeps the compact, explosive DNA of the 2026, but its shape evolves to better convert power into acceleration, glide and pop.
The front section is slightly more tensioned, and the draft is pushed further forward to deliver solid, well-directed drive. The rear two thirds are noticeably refined to free up glide, lighten back-hand pressure and make sheeting in and out more progressive.
The surface area has also been redistributed towards the centre and front to increase torque and hangtime. The tips, which could fold in more under load on the previous generation, now feature an open, refined geometry to spill power more effectively and reduce inertia.
Finally, the Boom strut evolves with a triple-section design, a progressive reduction in diameter and a profile maintained over around 45% of its length. The result: a Droid that is more locked-in, smoother at high speed and highly precise under load.
Is it suited to freestyle and jumps?
Yes, that’s its main focus.
The forward draft provides solid support to load up before the pop, while the area concentrated towards the front generates torque and acceleration before take-off.
The Aramid structure transfers the rider’s input directly and maintains excellent stability under load. The refined tips reduce inertia during rotations, while the well-oriented pull delivers pop, hangtime and control all the way through the landing.
How does it perform in light wind?
The Droid Aramid is particularly effective when you need to quickly turn pumping into speed.
The area shifted forward delivers torque, while the Aramid structure transmits input very directly. Its compact format lets you keep your movements quick and efficient.
Once up on foil, its high-glide profile helps maintain speed and get through the lulls. Paired with the right board and foil, it makes for a very high-performance combo in light wind.
How does it handle when the wind picks up?
The refined rear profile and open tips allow the Droid Aramid to release power progressively as pressure builds.
The wing keeps precise front-hand drive while sheeting in and out remains easy to control. The Aramid structure holds its geometry efficiently as speed increases, bringing stability, precision and control in committed riding.
What does the Aramid construction bring compared with a Dacron Droid?
The leading edge and strut in 85 g/m² Aramid provide a lightweight structure that stays particularly stable under load.
Less of the rider's input is absorbed by the structure: pumping becomes more direct, acceleration is crisp, and the wing responds instantly during changes of direction.
The canopy remains in 54 g/m² Triple Ripstop to preserve a progressive, comfortable response. The Droid Aramid therefore combines structural stiffness, responsiveness and smooth handling.
Why is the 2027 Boom strut specific?
The strut is designed entirely around the boom to deliver a direct, consistent connection across the entire grip zone.
Its triple-section layout progressively manages how it works under load, while its diameter continuously tapers towards the rear. The profile is maintained over around 45% of its length, then the rear third narrows significantly to free up glide.
The connection between the leading edge and the strut is also refined to transmit pumping input efficiently and distribute loads evenly.
Can you use handles on the Droid Aramid 2027?
No.
The Droid Aramid is designed exclusively for use with a boom. Its strut geometry and the distribution of its stiffness zones have been developed specifically for this continuous grip.
If you're looking for a Droid with handles, you should go for an RH version compatible with this type of grip.
