Wing Droid Boom - Perf Series - Artic blue
Description
Programme
The Droid Boom 2027 is the 100% boom compact wing for charging hard, popping high, turning fast and surfing flat out.
Overview
The Droid Boom 2027 is a compact, responsive and precise wing, designed to accelerate hard, throw freestyle moves and keep a very direct feel. Its continuous boom delivers an instant connection with the wing and lets you reposition your hands freely through transitions, rotations and landings.
As soon as you sheet in, the power comes on strong and stays easy to use. The Droid locks in quickly, builds speed and gives you a solid platform to load up for pop or build speed hard. Its profile concentrates the power forward to keep the pull well oriented and deliver a precise feel through the boom.
Its compact format brings a lot of freedom for tricks. The wing turns fast, repositions naturally and stays unobtrusive around the rider during rotations. The open, slimmer tips reduce inertia and reinforce that feeling of a lively, light and highly maneuverable wing.
In freeride, the Droid keeps a smooth glide and power that is easy to modulate. The rear of the profile has been deliberately refined to free up acceleration and maintain comfortable pull as speed increases, with progressive sheeting in and out through the gusts.
The boom-specific strut has been designed to transmit the rider’s input efficiently while maintaining a consistent response under load. This architecture makes pumping dynamic, line changes precise and the handling direct without becoming physically demanding.
The Droid Boom 2027 brings together pop, speed, maneuverability and control in a wing built for riders who want to ride hard, turn fast and make the most of every session with maximum commitment.
Strut
The Droid Boom 2027 features a strut designed entirely around the boom to deliver direct, precise and consistent handling. Its triple-section construction progressively supports load transfer, while its diameter continuously tapers towards the rear. The profile is maintained over around 45% of the strut, then the rear third thins out significantly to free up glide.

Profile
The Droid Boom 2027 features a slightly tighter profile through the front section to slice through the air more efficiently and boost acceleration. The draft is focused at a precise point to deliver solid drive and a clear, predictable feedback through the boom. Over the rear two thirds, the profile is noticeably refined to reduce nose-down torque and lighten the load on the back hand. The wing stays locked-in, fast and smooth, with progressive sheeting in and out that is easy to control.

Outline
The Droid Boom 2027 keeps the same wingspan and overall chord, while redistributing the surface area towards the centre and front of the wing. This geometry delivers well-directed pull, torque and crisp acceleration, while preserving the compact format that defines the Droid’s DNA. Pumping stays efficient, pop loads up easily, and the wing retains enough lift to support jumps.

Tips
The tips of the Droid Boom 2027 feature a natural opening that lets them spill more effectively under load and free up the airflow. Their slimmer shape reduces inertia at the tips and delivers a lighter feel through the boom. The wing gains glide, upwind ability and liveliness, with quick rotations and smooth repositioning through transitions, tricks and surf.

Buying guide
Who is it for?
The Droid Boom is aimed at riders who are already independent and want to move to a compact wing that is lively and highly maneuverable to bring more energy to their riding.
It is ideal for progressing in freestyle, sending your first jumps, accelerating in freeride, or surfing with a wing that repositions quickly.
Its solid power delivery and composed feel also make it accessible to an intermediate rider looking to move towards a more committed style without choosing a radical wing.
To discover wing foiling from scratch, the Plus remains better suited. As soon as you are looking for pop, quick rotations and more response, the Droid really comes into its own.
What for?
The Droid Boom is built for surf-freestyle, tricks, jumps and committed freeride.
Its forward draft provides solid support to load the wing, accelerate and generate pop. Its more open rear profile promotes glide and reduces pressure on the back hand, allowing you to ride fast without ending up with an overly physical wing.
Its compact outline and controlled wingspan make pumping, rotations and repositioning easier. It also retains good low-end power in light wind, for early take-off and efficient speed build-up through the lulls.
In the waves, its refined tips allow quick line changes and keep the wing feeling light in your hands.
Understanding our wing range:
Plus: the wing to learn, progress and do everything easily.
Droid: the compact, dynamic wing for freestyle, jumps, surf and committed freeride.
Neutra: the wing focused on waves and freefly, with a very neutral feel when the wing is flagged out.
If you want an easy, versatile wing, choose the Plus. If you are looking for pop, speed and maneuverability, choose the Droid. If your absolute priority is surf and freefly, the Neutra will be the most specialised.

What size should you choose?
The right size mainly depends on your weight, your level, your board, your foil and the wind you usually ride in.
The Droid has enough low-end power that you do not need to systematically oversize. A compact wing is particularly interesting in freestyle: it turns quickly, gets in the way less during rotations and repositions easily on landings.
For light wind or freeride, a larger size will give you more margin for take-off and through the lulls. For jumps and tricks, choose a size with enough power to load the wing, while still matching the wind so you keep control and maneuverability.
The board and foil have a huge influence on this choice. A high-lift foil and a board that gets up and glides early allow you to use a smaller wing size in the same wind.

Which foil with the Droid?
The foil you choose will strongly define the character of your combo. A maneuverable foil will emphasise the surf-freestyle side of the Droid, while a foil focused on glide will turn its acceleration into speed and efficiency.
To keep progressing with an accessible setup, the Ascent brings a good balance of lift, speed and maneuverability. It lets you work on transitions, first jumps and line changes with a progressive foil without making the combo too technical.
For surf, carving and fluid freeride, the Curve works perfectly with the Droid. Its ability to hold speed through carves lets you ease off the wing and let the foil do the work, while still keeping enough maneuverability to link line changes.
The Fluid is particularly well matched to a committed surf-freestyle style. Its responsiveness and turning speed directly follow the rider's input. Combined with the compactness of the Droid, it creates a lively combo that loves to turn, accelerate and link maneuvers.
If your priority is speed, upwind ability and glide, the Veloce brings more efficiency. It carries speed between maneuvers and lets you fully exploit the Droid's acceleration on long runs.
In light wind, a Veloce Light Wind makes take-off easier while still keeping speed once flying. It significantly extends the low end without turning the combo into a slow setup or one dedicated only to small conditions.
The Sirus is for those who want to push light wind even further. Its strong lift at low speed allows you to fly in very little wind, especially when paired with a board with excellent glide.
Finally, choose the right size as well: a large front wing makes take-off and slow flight easier, while a smaller size unlocks speed, carving and maneuverability.
Which board with the Droid?
Your board choice should let you make the most of the Droid's compact character while staying consistent with your level.
To keep stability while progressing, the Lance offers a reassuring platform while still being compact enough to start developing a dynamic riding style. It lets you approach transitions and first jumps without moving straight onto a demanding board.
The Mint is a particularly natural match with the Droid. Compact and responsive, it lets you work on freeride, surf and freestyle with a board that reacts instantly to your input and easily follows changes of direction.
The Lemon pushes the combo further towards dynamic freeride and carving. It suits the independent rider who wants a precise, responsive board capable of making the most of the Droid's speed.
To extend the low end, the Cruzader Diamond brings a huge amount of glide before take-off. Its length allows you to reach foil take-off speed quickly, so you can get up with less pumping and less power in the wing. It also allows you to use a relatively compact Droid in light conditions.
If light wind becomes the absolute priority, the Cruzader Point LW pushes this logic even further. Paired with a large Droid and a high-lift foil, it lets you turn very little wind into take-off speed.
Volume remains essential: a high-volume board brings comfort and security on starts, while lower volume gradually frees up your foot pressure and control in jumps. A long, narrow board will favour glide and early take-off.
In short: Lance for steady progression, Mint for versatile surf-freestyle, Lemon for dynamic freeride, and Cruzader to maximise glide and light wind performance.
Carbon boom, full carbon boom or 2-piece boom?
The Droid Boom is designed exclusively for use with a boom. Three models allow you to adapt the feel and practicality to your programme.
The Carbon Boom offers an excellent balance of stiffness, light weight and control. Its carbon construction combined with its injected elbows provides a direct connection with the wing and is perfectly suited to versatile use.
The Full Carbon Boom takes that connection even further with a full carbon construction, from the front elbow to the rear elbow. Its maximum stiffness instantly transmits every rider input for ultra-precise handling, particularly valuable in freestyle and committed riding.
The 2-Piece Carbon Boom focuses on practicality while keeping a stiff, direct feel. Its assembly allows the boom to be quickly split into two parts to make transport, storage and travel easier, with a connection designed to provide a firm hold once assembled.
Which leash?
A 5'5 to 8' wing leash will suit most uses.
A short leash lets you recover the wing quickly after a fall, which is particularly useful in freestyle when attempts come one after another. A longer leash leaves more distance between the foil and the wing during a fall.
Check its condition regularly and replace it as soon as it shows signs of wear. The leash is an essential part of your safety setup.
Do not leave your wing unnecessarily flapping in the wind at the end of the leash, and never try to hold the wing back abruptly by the leash in the waves.
Harness or not?
The Droid works perfectly without a harness for freestyle, surf and highly mobile sessions, where you want to be able to move the wing freely and change position quickly.
For fast freeride, long runs, or when you are riding well powered, a harness will, on the other hand, significantly reduce the load on your arms and let you make the most of the wing's power for longer.
All our wings feature dedicated attachment points for harness lines. Start with a generous length to make hooking in and out easier, then gradually reduce the length as you gain experience.
Choose a lightweight, low-bulk harness along with a thin line dedicated to wing use. The goal is to relieve your arms without limiting freedom of movement, especially in transitions and tricks.
Lines with 24 to 28 cm between the strut and the bottom of the V will be perfect. A length of 30 to 32 cm makes getting started easier. A small-diameter rope and thin sheath are essential because windsurf lines, for example, are too heavy and stiff, and therefore dangerous in tacks and other tricks.
Need a replacement bladder?
Bladders, valves and other components remain available as spare parts so you can repair and maintain your Droid over time.
Refer to the bladder compatibility guide to identify the correct reference according to your wing's model, size and year.
Already equipped: why add a Droid to your quiver?
The Droid is particularly interesting when your riding starts to become more dynamic and a general-purpose wing begins to limit your ambitions in freestyle, jumps or surf.
If you already own a Plus, the Droid can become your wing for sending it, while the Plus remains ideal when ease and versatility are your priority.
If you already ride a Neutra, the two programmes complement each other perfectly: the Neutra prioritises neutrality and freefly in the waves, while the Droid brings more support, pop and response for tricks and jumps.
It can therefore become the dynamic piece in your quiver, the one you choose when the session calls for acceleration, rotations, jumps and committed handling.

5 windows

The DROID Boom 2027 incorporates five windows distributed throughout the sail to maintain good environmental awareness without disrupting the wing's behavior.
Their position allows them to better anticipate other practitioners, obstacles and trajectories during starts, transitions or close navigation.
A real plus for learning, progressing and navigating with peace of mind, while keeping a wing light, balanced and easy to pilot.
Semi-rigid downwind textile handle

Almost rigid, the downwind handle offers a more precise and direct grip to improve wing control in freefly and surfing.
It allows for better one-handed control of the wing while maintaining enough flexibility to remain comfortable during windless sailing phases.
The new oval seams and added reinforcements at the anchor points distribute stress more effectively on the leading edge, in order to improve the overall durability.
The Dyneema leash attachment is now positioned on the underside of the handle. This keeps the leash better away from the grip area and less of an obstruction to the hands during freeflying.
Rapid inflation with the One Pump Max Flow system

The leading edge and center strut are connected by the One Pump system to quickly inflate the entire wing from a single valve . Once the wing is pressurized, the clip allows the two bladders to be isolated to maintain the wing's buoyancy in case of damage to the strut or leading edge.
A second valve is integrated into the ski to speed up deflation. Simply open the valves on the leading edge and the ski to quickly release the air and facilitate folding and storage.
To preserve the wing's structure, always deflate the strut at the same time as the leading edge and do not leave the strut under pressure on its own.
Fiberglass micro-battens

Fiberglass micro-battens are integrated into the trailing edge to effectively limit flapping and maintain the profile to the tip of the sail.
They stabilize the trailing edge, improve profile stability and promote cleaner flow to maintain a precise and efficient wing, even as speed increases.
Lightweight, durable and easily replaceable , they also allow you to easily maintain your wing and extend its performance over time.
Camera safety loops

Discreet nylon safety ties are integrated on each tip and near the strut to secure your camera when mounted on the leading edge or slat with a suitable mount.
Their positioning is designed to keep the leash out of the camera's field of view and prevent any interference while riding. This allows you to film your sessions from multiple angles, maintaining a clean and secure setup, without the risk of losing your camera in case of a fall.
Repair kit
A repair kit is included with your wing to perform common repairs and extend its lifespan.
It includes patches adapted to bladders and fabrics , practical for quick intervention in case of small perforation, cut or tear.
Carrying bag
The wing comes with a practical and robust carrying bag, designed to facilitate storage, transport and storage between sessions.
Its generous size allows for easy storage of the folded wing and its accessories, while its compact design simplifies transport to the spot and minimizes bulk in the vehicle or at home. Please note that the bag is not compatible with a wing that has the boom attached.
10 years of spare parts
At GONG, durability is part of the design specifications from the outset. But making a wing last also means being able to maintain and repair it over time.
That is why we are committed to offering the components necessary for the maintenance of our wings for 10 years : bladders, valves, fabrics and specific parts remain accessible to extend the lifespan of your equipment as much as possible.
If needed, you have two options:
- Our GONG workshop can diagnose your wing and carry out the necessary repairs.
- Spare parts are available to order so you can carry out maintenance yourself or entrust the repair to your usual workshop.
If a product is temporarily unavailable, we will do our best to restock it as soon as possible.
A well-maintained wing remains efficient for longer, retains its value and can continue to sail for many years, including second-hand.

Delivery
Who is the Droid Boom 2027 for?
The Droid Boom 2027 is aimed at riders who are already independent and looking for a compact, lively and powerful wing for freestyle, jumps, surf and committed freeride.
Its handling stays clear and progressive enough to support an intermediate rider, but its full potential really comes through when you're looking for pop, acceleration, fast rotations and a very direct connection with the wing.
What is the difference between the Droid Boom 2027 and the Droid 2026?
The Droid Boom 2027 retains the Droid’s compact, dynamic DNA, with major work on the profile, surface distribution, tips and strut.
The draft is more concentrated towards the front to deliver solid support and well-directed pull, while the rear two thirds have been refined to free up glide and lighten back-hand pressure.
The tips are also more open and slimmer to improve spill under load and reduce inertia.
The new Boom strut features a triple-section design, a diameter that tapers progressively towards the rear, and a profile maintained over around 45% of its length before a clearly refined rear third. The result is a wing that feels fast, locked-in, precise and especially direct through the boom.
Is it a good wing for beginners?
That’s not its main purpose. To get started in wing foiling and learn the basics easily, the Plus remains more geared towards learning and ease of use.
The Droid Boom really comes into its own once you’re comfortable taking off, staying on foil and controlling your direction. It then lets you progress towards dynamic transitions, jumps, freestyle and fast, committed riding.
Is it suited to freestyle and jumps?
Yes, it’s one of its main strengths.
Its compact outline makes rotations easier and reduces the wing’s bulk around the rider. The forward draft provides solid support to load up before the pop, while the surface area concentrated through the centre and towards the front generates torque and acceleration.
The boom lets you move your hands freely during rotations and quickly find your grip again before landing. Once in the air, the well-directed pull and the low swing weight in the tips promote hangtime, fast rotations and control all the way through the landing.
How does it perform in light wind?
The Droid Boom retains a generous power reserve despite its compact format.
The area concentrated through the centre and towards the front creates torque when pumping and helps get the board up and going quickly. The direct boom connection also allows for precise, energetic input to make the most of every pump.
Once flying, its efficient profile lets you build speed quickly and punch through lulls effectively. Paired with a board that gets up and glides early, and a suitable foil, the Droid Boom makes for a particularly efficient combo in light wind.
How does it handle when the wind picks up?
The refined rear profile and open tips allow the Droid Boom to naturally regulate its power under load.
The less cambered rear two-thirds reduce back-hand pressure and deliver progressive sheeting in and out. The open tips support spill when the pressure builds, while the front profile stays locked in.
The Droid therefore maintains speed, control and precision as the wind picks up, with pull that is easy to modulate from the boom.
Why is the Boom strut 2027 specific?
The strut on the Droid Boom 2027 has been fully developed around the boom to deliver a direct connection and consistent response across the entire grip zone.
Its triple section progressively manages how the strut works under load, while its diameter continuously tapers towards the rear. The profile is maintained over around 45% of the strut length, then the rear third narrows significantly to promote glide. The connection between the leading edge and the strut has also been optimised to distribute loads more effectively and transmit pumping input efficiently.
The result is precise, consistent handling that comes through instantly in the boom.
Can you use handles on the Droid Boom 2027?
No. The Droid Boom is designed exclusively to be used with a boom.
Its strut geometry, stiffness zones and overall behaviour have been developed specifically around this continuous grip. If you prefer riding with handles, the Droid RH is the version dedicated to that setup.
