Presentation

The Frost is a direct evolution of the classic keel into a more modern and performance oriented range. It keeps the core fundamentals of a keel, natural speed, smooth glide and constant drive, while bringing a more compact, precise and dynamic feel under the back foot. The Frost offers a more modern interpretation of this template.

Its refined and slightly shorter outline maintains excellent ability to draw lines on the wave while making turns easier to engage. The board stays fast and stable, but becomes easier to reposition when the section tightens. The foil and surface distribution have been designed to generate smooth and consistent drive, while reducing the heavy feel sometimes found in more traditional keels.

It is a perfect fin for surfers who want to keep the DNA of a twin fish while gaining precision and versatility.

Template

Template of a compact modern keel. The rake is moderate, less pronounced than a classic keel, allowing you to maintain projection while making direction changes easier. It provides a good balance between long lines and maneuverability.

Base

The base remains relatively wide, ensuring consistent drive and good stability through the line. It helps maintain speed effortlessly in open sections.

Depth

The depth is moderate, offering a good compromise between grip and freedom. It maintains control at high speed while remaining accessible in transitions.

Surface area

The surface is balanced and slightly reduced compared to a classic keel fin. This distribution helps limit drag while maintaining solid drive on the wave face.

Setup

The twin keel setup is a configuration oriented toward natural speed, projection and stability. Thanks to their very long base and large surface area, keels generate continuous drive that allows the board to accelerate effortlessly and maintain speed along the line.

The feeling is smooth and grounded: the board holds its line, glides naturally and favors long drawn out turns rather than quick direction changes. Surfing is built through continuity, with a consistent line that supports every turn.

This setup is ideal for drawing lines, maintaining speed and using the full length of the wave, with a style focused on flow, glide and wide open turns.

Precision CNC machining from solid material allows for highly accurate shapes that stay true to the original design, delivering smooth, consistent performance in all conditions. The Frost is ideal for modern fish, hybrid twins and performance-oriented boards that aim to combine speed and manoeuvrability. It performs very well in clean waves with a defined wall. It allows you to draw lines while maintaining manoeuvrability, offering an excellent balance between glide and control. A high-performance modern keel.

What size?

The choice of keel size depends on several factors that work together:

the surfer’s weight
the tail width
the overall volume of the board
the type of waves surfed

A heavier or more powerful surfer will benefit from a larger surface area to maintain control and projection. Conversely, a lighter surfer can slightly reduce the surface area to gain manoeuvrability and freedom under the back foot.

The tail width is also a key factor. Fish boards often have wide tails that generate a lot of lift and natural speed. To stabilise this tail and fully harness that speed, larger keels generally work better. On a narrower fish or hybrid board, a slightly smaller keel will help maintain manoeuvrability.

The overall volume of the board also influences the choice. A voluminous or wide board will require more surface area to remain stable at speed. A more compact or lower-volume board can work with slightly smaller fins.

Finally, surf conditions also guide sizing. In small or weak waves, a larger surface area helps maintain speed and projection. In faster or more hollow waves, a slightly smaller keel can improve manoeuvrability and control through transitions.

In practice, it is about finding the balance between drive, stability and manoeuvrability, depending on the board and the desired surfing style. A large keel favours long lines and natural speed, while a slightly more compact keel delivers a looser and more responsive board.
