Benji Castenskiold storms back with a record-breaking win in Tarifa
Reigning World Champion Benjamin Castenskiold delivered a statement victory in Tarifa, taking the final with a massive 26.80 heat total, the highest score of the event and a new event record, surpassing the 26.76 he posted in Round 4.
Wing foiler : Benjamin, GONG team rider, with his Hyperloop FSP Pro, Droid Aramid X, HM85 mast and Ypra Freestyle foil setup.
After a disappointing stop in the challenging conditions of Leucate, Benji came back firing. Heat after heat, he built his campaign with flawless execution, fresh innovation, and tricks perfected through months of training. He once again established himself as the benchmark in freestyle, with perfectly executed palau backflip and late backs adding serious style to an already dominant performance.
His road to the final was anything but easy. In the semifinals, Benji faced two former World Champions, Malo Guénolé and Chris MacDonald, in a razor-thin battle between three world title holders. When the buzzer sounded, only fractions separated the three riders, with Benji and Chris advancing despite a phenomenal performance from Malo.
While Tarifa's conditions kept most riders' scores in the mid-range, Benji found another gear when it mattered most, delivering the event's two highest-scoring heats.
Next stop: the Canaries, where forecasted nuking winds could make for another spectacular showdown as the fight for the 2026 World Title heats up.
