Discover the GONG Bodyguard T-shirt: an innovative t-shirt, specially designed to provide you with enhanced protection against cuts during your foil sessions.

Faced with the various risks of cuts on the stabilizer, front wing, and mast, it seemed necessary for us to propose a new solution.

We have always prioritized safety in our foils with non-sharp trailing edges, rounded or squared tips, and clear instructions. But at high speed or high intensity in a collision, or with a competition foil, cutting is inevitable.

Therefore, we have developed the Bodyguard range of technical textile products, integrating high-end technologies inherited from the world of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Made from HPPE (High-Performance Polyethylene) fibers, the Bodyguard T-shirt offers level 5 cut resistance, the highest according to tests of the European standard EN 388. Applied to our sports, this advanced technology ensures you additional protection against cuts related to foils and fins.

Our goal is not to eliminate cuts: that’s unrealistic. Foiling sports are extreme sports, especially because of this risk. It is therefore important to be cautious in all situations. But an accident is still probable. Our goal is to reduce its consequences by eliminating “silly” everyday cuts and reducing the severity of serious cuts.

We have adapted “cut-resistant” T-shirts to prioritize the protection of our vital organs. Falling on the foil is a moment of intense stress. While limbs are easily affected, the trunk remains the priority to protect.

These T-shirts will reduce the potential for cuts to emerge unscathed from a minor impact and mitigate the consequences of a major impact. Your safety is our priority, and in order to allow you to limit damage and reach safety, it is essential. That’s the role of this range of protections, which will not eliminate the risk and injuries, but will reduce their effects in a large number of accidents.

Designed for optimal freedom of movement, it is surprisingly lightweight and flexible. Its loose fit adapts to your body shape, whether you wear it over a wetsuit or directly on the skin. So, it has the double benefit of protecting both you and your wetsuit.

Available in five sizes, it is cut generously to fit over your wetsuit. If you prefer a more snug fit, choose a size down. GONG once again asserts itself as a leader in innovation for water sports.

Attention:

The risk of serious injury cannot be completely eliminated. The Bodyguard T-shirt is intended to reduce the risk of cuts and their consequences, but it cannot protect against all injuries. It cannot protect against the force of an impact, for example. In water, the skin will soften and “burst” easily upon impact. In this case, this T-shirt will be ineffective. Your caution is the most effective barrier against dangers. Limiting cuts does not protect against punctures or extremely sharp objects. Make sure not to use very sharp or pointed foils. If necessary, blunt them by sanding the sharp edge into a rounded or squared shape.

We also strongly recommend combining wearing a Bodyguard product with wearing a thick wetsuit, boots, an impact vest, and especially a helmet!

Excessive washing may impair the material’s effectiveness.
