Overview

The Moodrive is the longboard for surfers who want to charge. A board designed to bring intensity to every wave: get in early, build speed, lay into powerful carves, regain speed, throw radical manoeuvres and walk to the nose as soon as the section allows.

This is a longboard for riders who like to surf with commitment. The Moodrive is not here to simply cruise down a mellow line: it loves waves with face, rhythm and power. It makes you want to hunt down the section, push hard through your turns and surf with the energy of a shortboard, while keeping all the length and style of a longboard.

In the right conditions, it really lets you vary your surfing. You can commit to a carve, come back into the pocket, accelerate, place a radical manoeuvre, then walk to the nose and lock in a hang five when the wave lines up. That combination is what defines its character: modern performance and true longboard feel.

The Moodrive is aimed at longboarders who want a lively, precise and responsive board under their feet. It reacts to foot pressure, sets up quickly and delivers loads of control as the speed builds. You can surf hard without ever feeling the board get overwhelmed, which lets you push your surfing with more confidence.

Its ideal playground is clean waves from waist-high to double overhead, with enough power to let it show its full potential. It loves fast sections, drawn-out faces, waves that open up and conditions that let you link carves, speed build-up and noserides on the same wave.

The Moodrive still stays accessible in its longboard approach. It paddles efficiently, gets in early and makes it easy to position yourself in the line-up. You keep the comfort of a longboard for catching waves, but with a much higher level of performance as soon as you start surfing with intensity.

It is the board for technical riders who do not want to choose between radical surfing and style. A board to throw radical manoeuvres, walk the nose, score in quality conditions and bring maximum intensity to every wave.

OUTLINE

The outline keeps the length, paddling and glide of a true longboard, with a distribution designed to attack the wave, turn tight and stay in control through your turns.

The round nose brings the lift needed to get in early and walk to the front, while the more compact tail frees up the ride and gives the shape its performance character.

ROCKER

The rocker is consistent and pronounced for a longboard. It gives you more margin in waves with push, makes direction changes easier, and lets you commit to more vertical lines.

This curve keeps the board feeling smooth and flowing, while freeing it up through turns to deliver more mobility than a longboard with a very flat rocker.

BOTTOM

The bottom shape combines a nose spoon, very slight belly under the front section, then a double concave through the tail. It keeps the glide smooth while moving around the board and adds more precision through your foot pressure.

The spoon stabilises the front end for noserides. The very slight belly smooths out transitions, while the double concave makes rail-to-rail easier and helps maintain speed through carves.

TAIL

The baby diamond tail reduces bulk under the back foot and delivers quick response through your turns. It lets you pivot tight, build speed hard and link manoeuvres with real liveliness.

On a performance longboard, this responsiveness keeps the board precise and dynamic despite the length.

RAILS

The rails are sharp through the tail to deliver hold, drive and precision in tight carves. They let you push hard without losing your line.

Towards the nose, the rails become rounder to keep things smooth, with comfortable paddling and real fluidity in your footwork.

Single Tab connection: simple, direct and solid

The Single Tab system features a single, extended base on each fin. This design creates a solid connection with the fin box, making installation simple, fin changes quick, and power transfer exceptionally direct.

On the water, the benefits are immediate. The board responds instantly, the fins work without unwanted play, and every input translates into drive, grip and control. This is especially valuable on high performance boards, where precise feedback is essential at high speeds and through committed turns.

The Single Tab system also makes it easy to fine tune your setup for different conditions. Changing fin size, template or flex lets you refine the board's feel in just a few moments. It provides a clean, durable and efficient connection, allowing you to unlock the full potential of the shape.

Good to know: Single Tab fin boxes are only compatible with Single Tab fins.

Who is it for?

For surfers who want a 100% performance longboard, capable of attacking the wave, laying down powerful carves, throwing radical manoeuvres and walking to the nose when the section allows it.

The Moodrive is aimed at technical longboarders who like to surf with intensity. It demands precise foot pressure and good wave reading, while still keeping the paddling, glide and presence of a true longboard.

It is not primarily designed for mellow cruising or pure noseriding only. Its programme is more committed: building speed, pushing through turns, varying your lines and using the full length of the board.

What for?

The Moodrive is made for surfing a longboard with real intensity. It lets you attack from the tail, come back into the pocket, accelerate, place a radical manoeuvre, then walk towards the nose when the wave stands up.

It loves waves with face, rhythm and power. The more the wave pushes, the more it reveals its potential: control at speed, precision through your foot pressure and committed surfing.

You keep the advantages of a longboard for catching waves, but with a much more modern, lively and responsive ride than a classic longboard.

What board size?

The Moodrive comes in 9’0, with several widths from 56 cm to 60 cm and volumes from 61L to 75L. This range lets you fine-tune the board to your build, your level, your paddling and your waves.

Choose the lower volumes to maximise responsiveness, precision and control. Choose the mid-range volumes for the best balance of paddling, stability and performance.

The higher volumes bring more comfort, float and ease for walking to the nose. If you are unsure, go thinner for radical performance, more voluminous for paddling and forgiveness.

What are the ideal waves?

Size: from hip-high to double overhead, depending on your level and how committed you want to go.

Power: it performs best in waves with push, with enough energy to lay down carves, build speed and make the most of the full length of the board.

Shape: it prefers clean waves, open faces, fast sections and conditions that let you link turns, speed build-up and noserides.

What fin setup?

The Moodrive is designed around a single + two Single Tab side fins setup. This configuration combines the glide and line-holding of a centre fin with the drive, control and precision of side fins.

The central US box lets you adjust the feel. Moving the centre fin forward makes the board more mobile. Moving it back brings more hold, stability and control through big carves.

The side fins reinforce the performance ride: more grip through turns, more drive through your foot pressure and more precision when surfing from the tail.

Which shape should you choose?

Choose the Moodrive if you want the most modern performance-oriented longboard: a board to attack, commit, build speed and throw radical manoeuvres, while still keeping the option to walk to the nose.

If your priority is pure noseriding, very classic footwork and long drawn-out lines, a more dedicated noserider longboard will make more sense.

If you are mainly looking for ease and a very forgiving board to catch as many waves as possible, choose a more comfortable longboard. The Moodrive is made for riders who want to push longboarding towards more committed surfing.

Depending on what you want, your build, the conditions and your surfing style, you can fine-tune the board’s feel with different GONG fibreglass fins compatible with US Box and Single Tab.

The single setup uses only the centre fin. The 2+1 setup adds two side fins.
