Programme

The very high aspect ratio carbon Tail Wing that maximises glide and energy efficiency for long-distance pumping and endurance, and delivers in downwind race.

Overview

The Supra Trail V3 Atmo Pro Team Series Tail Wing uses the proven shape of the previous Supra Trail V3, now integrated into the adjustable V3 Atmo system.

Its very high 15.0 aspect ratio drastically reduces drag and increases the distance covered with each pump. The foil holds its speed for a long time, allowing you to slow the cadence and save the rider’s energy.

It sits between the Hyper Trail and the Ultra Trail, but with the Ultra’s DNA. It has more glide and is more energy-efficient than the Hyper, while keeping more support and forgiveness than the Ultra. It’s a more accessible Ultra Trail, without the absolute radical edge.

Its very straight, progressive outline spreads the surface area across the full span instead of concentrating it in the centre. This geometry stabilises trajectories and limits unwanted movement, but deliberately reduces manoeuvrability to avoid mistakes and imprecision that need correcting.

Its relatively thick, low-camber profile keeps enough support to build speed at low speed, without holding back acceleration or generating much nose-up as the foil picks up speed.

Its forgiveness remains limited, but sufficient to handle slight variations in cadence and trim over long runs. It requires very clean technique without reaching the extreme demands of the Ultra Trail.

Paired with the Supra Trail Front Wing, it creates the benchmark combo for easy very long-distance pumping. With a Hyper Trail, it gives the front wing more glide. With an Ultra Trail, it brings more margin and control.

It can also be used in downwind race when absolute efficiency matters more than manoeuvrability. Its low nose-up tendency allows it to handle high speeds and let the foil accelerate on the way down the bumps.

Built in CNC-machined monolithic T700 carbon, it precisely maintains its profile and the incidence of its tips under repeated loads.

The benchmark setup with a Medium Tail Shaft and 0° Tail Shim offers the best balance of efficiency, longitudinal stability, speed build-up and cadence control.

Shape
ASPECT RATIO 15.0

The Supra Trail features a very high aspect ratio of 15.0 to significantly reduce induced drag and maximise the distance covered between pumps.

The foil keeps its speed for longer and requires fewer movements to stay flying. The cadence can become broader, slower and more efficient.

This ratio delivers efficiency close to the Ultra Trail, with more support and more margin through cadence changes.

STRAIGHT, PROGRESSIVE OUTLINE

The outline is very elongated, straight and progressive, with no strong concentration of surface area in the centre.

This distribution stabilises the foil across its entire span and limits unwanted movement during long pumping sequences.

It clearly prioritises efficiency and line hold over rail-to-rail feel or quick direction changes.

THICK, LOW-CAMBER PROFILE

The relatively thick profile provides the mechanical stiffness needed for a very high-span Tail Wing.

Its low camber limits rear pressure and nose-up trim as speed increases. The foil stays free and maintains its efficiency through acceleration.

It still keeps enough support at low speed to build speed cleanly after a slight loss of cadence.

CONTROLLED FORGIVENESS

The Supra Trail is less forgiving than the Hyper Trail to further reduce drag and increase efficiency.

It still retains more presence and margin for error than the Ultra Trail. Slight variations in cadence or trim remain recoverable with clean technique.

This intermediate level gives access to extreme glide without immediately tipping into the demands of a Tail Wing built purely for record-focused performance.

VERY LOW DIHEDRAL

The very low actual dihedral keeps a geometry close to that of a flat wing in order to maximise hydrodynamic efficiency all the way to the tips.

It limits unnecessary flow deviations and directly contributes to the foil's energy retention.

Combined with the thin, very high-aspect tips, it stabilises trajectories and maintains speed between impulses.

UPPER ARCHITECTURE

The Supra Trail is developed exclusively around an Upper architecture. It works with a Carbon Tail and its matching shim, or with an Upper Tail Shaft paired with an Upper Tail Shim.

The reference setup with a Medium Tail Shaft and 0° Tail Shim balances glide, longitudinal stability, speed build-up and control.

A Long Tail Shaft can further stabilise trajectories and smooth out cadence for pure long-distance riding, but it also reduces manoeuvrability even more. The Short moves away from the Supra Trail's natural programme.

A fully customizable Foil

The Tail Wing is only one part of your foil's overall behavior. With the V3 Atmo system, you can also choose your Tail Shaft length and Tail Shim angle of incidence to achieve a setup perfectly matched to your skill level, riding style, and discipline.

The Tail Shaft primarily influences the foil's dynamic behavior. A Short model makes the foil more responsive and reduces turning radius. The Medium version delivers the reference balance. The Long version provides greater longitudinal stability, smooths pitch movements, and makes long, flowing lines easier to maintain.

The Tail Shim then allows you to fine-tune the foil's longitudinal balance. It adjusts front-foot pressure, pitch attitude, takeoff ease, pumping cadence, and the foil's overall character, without changing the intrinsic characteristics of your Tail Wing.

The recommended setup for each Tail Wing is always the best place to start. It delivers exactly the behavior intended by the designer. From this baseline, you can progressively tune your foil to your own preferences by changing only one parameter at a time.

This modular system naturally evolves with your progression. The same Tail Wing can continue to meet your needs for many seasons simply by combining different Tail Shaft lengths and Tail Shim angles.

You're not simply choosing a Tail Wing, you're choosing a tuning platform that allows your foil to evolve with your riding, delivering a setup tailored with precision to the way you ride.

A Platform that evolves with you

At GONG, a new generation of products doesn't make your existing equipment obsolete. Our priority is to improve performance while protecting your investment.

All V3 Atmo Tail Wings share a standard mounting interface that defines their reference angle of incidence. This allows them to be installed on both the new V3 Atmo Tail Shims and the previous compatible V3 shims, without requiring you to replace your entire rear foil assembly.

This continuity also means that the same Tail Wing can be used with either a V3 or Micro V3 Atmo fuselage. Simply select the Tail Shaft and Tail Shim designed for your fuselage diameter. You can upgrade your platform progressively, without rebuilding your entire quiver every time a new innovation is introduced.

This compatibility is at the heart of our development philosophy. Every new generation delivers greater performance, finer tuning possibilities, and increased precision, while remaining designed to preserve as much of your existing equipment as possible.

You're investing in a durable platform that evolves alongside your riding, not in a succession of incompatible systems that must be replaced entirely with every new product generation.

V3 Atmo, a new era

The V3 Atmo range marks a major leap forward in the design, manufacturing, and finishing of our foils. Reaching this new level of performance required far more than evolving the shapes. We rethought the entire process, from R&D to the finished product.

Every V3 Atmo shape is designed in 3D, digitally optimized, thoroughly tested by the GONG Team, and manufactured with an unprecedented level of precision. Profiles, thickness distribution, transitions, fillets, connection areas, and trailing edges have all been refined to reduce parasitic drag, improve water flow, and maximize efficiency.

Our new production facility enables manufacturing in an ultra-clean, highly controlled environment with a level of precision approaching that of the world's leading aerospace, motorsport, and high-performance composite industries. Optimized extraction of solvents and dust creates better working conditions while ensuring cleaner parts throughout every stage of production.

Tighter control over every step, from material handling, layup, machining, and molding to cooling and finishing, delivers an unprecedented level of accuracy, particularly on the trailing edges. This controlled refinement minimizes hydrodynamic disturbances, reduces noise, improves glide, and contributes to the overall performance gains of the V3 Atmo range.

But the real breakthrough isn't just producing a beautiful part, it's producing the same beautiful part every time. Every wing leaves the factory with the same profile, the same fit, the same trailing edge, the same stiffness, and the same ride feel. In foiling, even a few tenths of a millimeter can affect ventilation, stall behavior, noise, speed, and stability.

Cleaner. Finer. Stiffer. More consistent. The V3 Atmo range represents a new era in the way we manufacture performance. From the Perf Series to the Team Series and Pro Team Series, every construction benefits from this new level of industrial precision.

Foil Tail Wing Supra Trail V3 Atmo - Pro Team Series Carbon / S / Black

Buying guide

Who is it for?

The Tail Wing Supra Trail V3 Atmo Pro Team Series is aimed at advanced to expert riders who already have their cadence dialled in and want to significantly increase their pumping distances.

It suits riders looking for a stable foil setup with excellent glide and efficiency rather than a lively or playful feel.

It is also for those who want to get closer to the performance of the Ultra Trail without immediately stepping up to its extreme level of demand.

In downwind, it is for expert riders capable of handling a Tail Wing with limited manoeuvrability and a strong focus on high-speed efficiency. Technical take-offs, as well as soft sections.

Why?

The Supra Trail tail wing is developed first and foremost for long-distance pumping and endurance. The perfect match with the Supra Trail front wing for an endurance ++ combo that still feels “easy”.

It lets you cover more distance with each pump, reduce movement frequency, and maintain a long, steady cadence.

It is ideal for long flat-water crossings, endurance challenges, and sessions where the goal is to save as much rider energy as possible.

Paired with a Hyper Trail Front Wing, it increases glide and turns the foil setup into a more distance-oriented combo.

With an Ultra Trail Front Wing, it brings more support, tolerance and control than an Ultra Trail Tail Wing.

It can also be used for downwind race with a Veloce when the priority is to maintain high speed on long, low-manoeuvrability lines.

Best avoided if...

The Supra Trail is not a progression Tail Wing. To build solid pumping fundamentals with more support and tolerance, choose a Trail.

For dynamic pumping, slalom and flat-water carves, the Hyper Trail will be livelier and more manoeuvrable.

To break absolute distance records with perfectly mastered technique, the Ultra Trail will offer even less drag.

For surf foiling, tight turns or quick direction changes, choose a more compact Tail Wing.

In downwind, it is suitable unless you are looking for lots of manoeuvrability to link bumps or constantly change line. It remains highly technical, be careful.

What size?

The choice depends on the Front Wing, the rider’s weight, the quality of their technique and the level of support they are looking for.

A large Supra Trail brings more support at low speed, more pitch stability and more margin when building speed. It does, however, increase drag.

A smaller size reduces resistance and frees up the Front Wing more, but requires excellent control of pitch and cadence.

The smallest size is not automatically the most efficient. If it forces the rider to make constant corrections or fly too low, the foil setup’s overall drag can actually increase.

Choose the smallest size you can hold cleanly for the full duration of the effort.

What setup?

The Supra Trail is offered exclusively in Upper architecture.

It can be mounted on a Carbon Tail with its matching Upper wedge, or on an Upper Tail Shaft paired with an Upper Shim Tail.

It cannot be mounted on a Lower Tail Shaft or a Lower Shim Tail.

The reference setup uses a Medium Tail Shaft and a 0° Upper Shim Tail. It offers the best balance between efficiency, pitch stability, speed build-up and control.

What does Shim Tail 0° mean?

The 0° Shim Tail keeps the reference incidence calculated for the Supra Trail.

It does not mean that the Tail Wing is horizontal relative to the fuselage. Its native incidence is directly built into its carbon base.

The Shim Tail number only indicates the angle added or removed relative to this reference. The + means the shim tail raises the leading edge of the tail wing, therefore reducing its incidence and its effect: the tail wing sits flatter, offering less front foot pressure and less lift. A negative number does the opposite: it drops the nose of the tail wing, increases its angle relative to the front wing and generates more lift and more front foot pressure.

So 0° is the best starting point before changing front foot pressure or the foil setup’s pitch behaviour.

Which angle should you choose?

Start with a 0° Upper Shim Tail.

A negative angle number adds more front foot pressure and more support in take-offs and when building speed. It also increases drag and reduces some of the efficiency you are looking for.

The -0.5° can correct a combo that feels slightly lacking in presence at low speed. More negative angles move well away from the Supra Trail’s intended programme.

The +1° reduces front foot pressure and frees up glide even more. It does, however, make take-offs, slowdowns and cadence changes much more demanding.

The loosest setting only performs if the rider can maintain perfectly clean pitch control.

What Tail Shaft length?

The Medium Tail Shaft is the reference setup for the Supra Trail.

It offers the best compromise between pitch stability, speed build-up, cadence control and efficiency.

The Long Tail Shaft stabilises pitch more, lengthens the lines and makes cadence more progressive. It can make sense for pure long-distance use, but reduces manoeuvrability even further.

The Short Tail Shaft makes the foil setup livelier, but compromises the stability and consistency sought in this programme. It is not particularly well suited to the Supra Trail.

A longer length does not directly increase glide. It mainly allows you to make better use of the shape’s efficiency with more control.

Note that changing tail shaft length also affects its position in the front wing’s “wash”, which can be more or less pronounced and consistent depending on pitch. This can have an effect, but it remains fairly subtle.

Which Front Wing?

The Supra Trail Front Wing is the reference pairing for long-distance pumping and endurance.

This combo delivers a long cadence, excellent speed retention and more tolerance than a fully Ultra Trail foil setup.

With a Hyper Trail Front Wing, the Supra Trail Tail Wing clearly increases glide and shifts the foil setup towards distance, at the cost of reduced manoeuvrability.

With an Ultra Trail Front Wing, it keeps efficiency extremely high while adding more support, tolerance and pitch control.

It can also work with other pumping Front Wings, but its very high aspect ratio will always orient the foil setup towards long lines, stability and energy saving.

In Downwind

The Supra Trail tail wing can be used in downwind with Veloce front wings for example, when the priority is maximum glide and holding long lines.

Its low-camber profile generates little nose-up as speed increases. The foil naturally drops into the slope and handles strong accelerations.

Its straight, progressive outline stabilises the foil setup, but offers little rail-to-rail feel. It is therefore better suited to downwind race on fast lines than to constantly surfing the bumps.

This programme is aimed at expert riders willing to sacrifice manoeuvrability to reduce drag and maximise average speed.

How should you progress with the settings?

Start with a Medium Tail Shaft, a 0° Shim Tail and a size that matches your Front Wing.

Test this setup enough to understand the natural cadence, the front foot pressure and the available margin during slowdowns.

Then only change one element at a time between Tail Wing size, Tail Shaft length, Shim Tail incidence and foil position in the boxes.

Look for a long, steady cadence with minimal pitch corrections. The best setting is the one that lets you maintain glide for the whole duration, not just for a few perfect pumps.

Compatibility

The Supra Trail Tail Wing is exclusively Upper.

It works with:

  • a compatible Carbon Tail and its matching Upper wedge;
  • a V3 Upper Tail Shaft and a V3 Upper Shim Tail;
  • a Micro V3 Atmo Upper Tail Shaft and a Micro V3 Atmo Upper Shim Tail.

V3 and Micro V3 Atmo Tail Shafts and Shim Tails are not interchangeable on the fuselage side.

The Tail Wing remains compatible with both diameters thanks to its standard fitting. You must use the Tail Shaft and Shim Tail suited to the fuselage diameter.

It cannot be mounted on a Lower Tail Shaft, a Lower Shim Tail or a Lower wedge.

This is the tail wing for experienced riders who want to maximise their pumping endurance.

Equipments

The Tail Wing is supplied on its own, without mounting hardware.

The required screws are supplied with the Carbon Tail, the wedge or the Shim Tail used for the assembly.

Assembly on a Shim Tail Upper uses two M6 screws matched to the Tail Wing thickness.

The different Tail Wing thicknesses may require different screw lengths. Always use the hardware that matches the assembly in order to maintain sufficient thread engagement without bottoming out in the thread.

Stainless steel hardware suited to the repeated loads of foiling and marine use.

Simple top-mount assembly on the Tail Wing, with only two visible screws.

Standard GONG seat for precise, repeatable Tail Wing positioning.

Firm connection, rigid while foiling and easy to remove after the session.
