Overview

The Dfeatr is a longboard fin designed for noseriding in its purest form. Inspired by traditional D-fins and hatchet designs, it features a very straight outline, a large surface area, and an extremely wide base. Its role is not to add maneuverability or speed, but to slow the board down and create a solid anchoring point under the tail. It acts like a keel, maintaining a constant line and making movement to the nose easier.

The Dfeatr delivers an exceptional sense of stability. The board naturally locks into the pocket, allowing long and confident noserides even in weak waves. Its deliberate lack of drive and maneuverability makes it a specialized fin, ideal for a surfing style focused on trim, flow, and precise positioning.

Template

A hybrid of hatchet and D-fin concepts. Very low rake. It promotes pure pivot and a centered behavior around the fin. It strongly limits long drawn-out turns.

Base

Very wide base. Generates maximum control and stability in the line. Helps slow the board and keep the tail anchored.

Depth

Deep. Increases leverage under the board and improves noseriding stability. Helps keep the tail engaged even at low speed.

Surface area

Very large surface. It favors hold and control but increases drag. Ideal for keeping the board locked in the pocket.

Setup

The single setup is a configuration based on a single center fin. It prioritizes stability, line reading and smooth trajectories. The fin acts as the main anchor point, guiding the board with precision and continuity.

What is it for?

Built for pure noseriding, the Dfeatr is especially suited to bulky retro longboards with wide tails, a centered or forward wide point, and 50/50 rails.

It excels in soft to medium waves where speed control is key. It is designed for surfers who prioritize stability, style, and noseriding mastery. A benchmark fin for traditional, classic longboard surfing.

What size?

For large retro logs and noseriders, sizes 9” to 11.5” are the most appropriate. The more you prioritize nose riding, hold, and stability, the larger you should go.

Example for a 9'2 longboard

A simple rule is to choose a fin roughly one inch longer than the board length. This works especially well for classic longboards and noseriders. For more modern or shorter boards, you can slightly reduce size to improve maneuverability and speed.
