Gath fits naturally into the GONG universe with helmets specifically developed for protection in water sports. The Australian brand was born in Margaret River under surfer Ric Gath, who began developing his own helmet in the mid-1980s after several injuries and years of exposure to ocean conditions. The first Gath model was released in 1989.

Since then, the brand has extended its expertise to windsurfing, kite, foil and many other water-based activities. Its helmets are designed to combine protection, secure fit and low drag in the water.

Gath helmet design addresses the specific constraints of water sports. Their close-fitting profile aims to reduce drag during falls and when passing through waves, while preserving freedom of movement and field of vision.

Materials are also selected to withstand regular use in marine environments. The foams do not absorb water and the different components are designed to resist corrosion and repeated exposure to salt water.

Gath develops several helmets with distinct characteristics. The Neo Hat follows the brand's historic concept with a lightweight, close-fitting design. The Surf Convertible adds removable ear protection, while the Gedi uses a modular design that can accept different accessories.

Several models are certified to EN 1385. The right choice therefore depends on the discipline, the level of protection required and the fit needed.

In wingfoil, surf, kite and windsurfing, a helmet adds protection against impacts that can occur with equipment or during a fall. Gath develops its models around these uses with particular attention to comfort and secure fit.
