FEEDBACK: CRUZADER POINT 5'4 HOLLOW CARBON

The verdict on the water? Detailed feedback after several wing foiling and lowkite sessions.

Wing foiler: Malo, GONG team rider, on the Cruzader Point Hollow Carbon, Droid Light wing, HM85 mast, Fluid V3 Atmo front wing and Ypra Surf-Freestyle V3 Atmo stab.

A 3.7 kg board!

“When I received the Cruzader 5'4 Hollow, the first thing that struck me was how good it looks. I love the graphics and the color.

But above all, when I took it out of the box... I couldn’t believe how light it was!

3.7 kg for 78 liters is seriously impressive.

As soon as you pick it up, you can also feel how stiff and solid it is. It’s light, very rigid, and it immediately makes you want to see what it feels like on the water.”

Lowkite sensations

“On the water: an incredibly impressive takeoff

For my first sessions, I tested it in lowkite with a Plus 2.5 V3 and a Neutra Light 3.5 V3, in conditions ranging from around 15 to 30 knots.

For the foil, I used the Veloce XTR 700 and the Veloce FF 890.

And that was the first big surprise: takeoff is incredibly early!

You start pumping normally, except that... you’re already flying.

It takes very little speed and very little wind to take off. It’s super easy and, above all, the feeling is pretty incredible.

And when pumping, it’s the same: the rebound is amazing. The stiffness of the board lets you recover all the energy from every movement without having to force it. It’s super easy and very efficient. You can fly high without effort, with a really natural pumping feel. It’s great.

The board is also very stable and, once in flight, you quickly forget it’s even there.”

A truly direct connection with the foil

“Another thing that really stood out to me is the power transfer.

The board is so stiff and responsive that there is virtually no delay with the foil. You look where you want to go, move your feet slightly, and it follows instantly.

At first, it takes a little time to adapt because everything reacts with incredible precision. But once you get used to it, it’s a real pleasure.

And with only 3.7 kg under your feet, it really feels like there is no board anymore. I almost feel like I only have the foil under my feet.”

Hollow technology in wing foiling

“I then tested it in wing foiling with a Droid X 4 m, a Veloce FF 890 and a Ypra Surf Carve 620.

And once again, even with the 620, takeoff is unbelievably easy.

And in the waves, I absolutely loved it.

Over the sessions, carving in the waves is where I had the most fun.

The board is super responsive and turns almost by itself. You can link turns without having to force anything, always with that same feeling of direct connection with the foil.

I also started doing a few small jumps and tricks, including 360s, and once again the board responds instantly.”

Lightness, stiffness and responsiveness

“After several sessions, what stands out most to me is this combination of lightness + stiffness + responsiveness.

The Cruzader 5'4 Hollow really gives you the feeling of having nothing but the foil under your feet. That’s a sensation I particularly enjoyed.

And judging by how this board performs when carving and doing small tricks, I think the Hollow models dedicated to freestyle, lowkite and wave riding must be seriously good.
