Overview

The Fewer is a single fin inspired by the dolphin template, but in a finer, faster and more technical version. It is designed to maximize glide and projection while minimizing drag, delivering a very natural sense of speed in the wave. Where a classic dolphin fin prioritizes balance and versatility, the Fewer pushes further toward line performance and fluid surfing.

Its elongated outline, with a pronounced rake and reduced surface area, allows the board to easily maintain speed and draw long, clean trajectories. It promotes a flowing style of surfing by letting the board accelerate naturally. The base still provides enough control through turns, but the reduced tip area limits drag and adds more freedom through transitions.

Template

Refined dolphin performance template. The rake is pronounced, favoring long lines and projection. The fin naturally guides the board through smooth and extended arcs.

Base

The base remains fairly wide, maintaining control and drive in turns. It transfers the surfer’s power efficiently without locking the board.

Depth

The depth is moderate to significant depending on size, ensuring good grip while maintaining fast glide.

Surface area

The surface is reduced and pulled toward the rear. This limits drag, increases speed and makes the fin more playful and maneuverable.

Who is it for?

The Fewer is designed for surfers who value flow and glide. It is aimed at those who prioritize fluidity, speed, and style, with drawn-out curves and a surfing style deeply connected to the wave.

It requires at least an intermediate to advanced level, as it demands good wave reading. This is a technical and subtle fin that promotes smooth, elegant surfing and long drawn lines.

What is it for?

The Fewer excels on mid-lengths, eggs, and modern single fin boards, especially in long, lined-up waves with open faces such as point breaks or reef breaks.

It is ideal for glide-oriented mid-lengths, hulls, and eggs. It performs best in long, clean waves and allows you to draw fast, flowing lines. Built for surfers who prioritize flow.

What size?

For large retro logs and noseriders, sizes 9” to 11.5” are the most appropriate. The more you prioritize nose riding, hold, and stability, the larger you should go.

As always:

larger = more stability, more hold, more control
smaller = more glide, more freedom, more maneuverability

The right choice depends on the board, the surfer’s weight, wave speed, and surfing style.

Minimum size favors: glide, speed, maneuverability

Maximum size favors: stability, control, noseriding

Example for a 9'2 longboard

9” → more speed and maneuverability

10” → more noseriding

Light surfer → slightly smaller size.

Heavy surfer → slightly larger size.

A simple rule is to choose a fin roughly one inch longer than the board length. This works especially well for classic longboards and noseriders. For more modern or shorter boards, you can slightly reduce size to improve maneuverability and speed.
