Our team rider secured a top-six overall finish, claimed first place in the strapless category and stepped onto the U19 podium.
U19 Pump Foiling podium: Oliver Young, Lou Thouin and Lukas Bunkenburg.
Following the parawing event, where he finished third behind teammate Bastien Escofet, who was crowned World Champion, Lake Garda hosted a two-day SFT pump foil event. This edition introduced a brand-new format: with only one dock available, the traditional head-to-head battles were replaced by a timed competition across four different courses.
On the opening day, riders tackled three varied courses, completing two runs on each. From long, high-speed sections to tighter technical turns, every rider had to demonstrate true versatility. A fourth and final course on day two completed the event and determined the overall standings.
Against a particularly strong international field, Lou Thouin delivered an impressive performance, finishing 6th overall, tied on points with 5th place. He also stood out as the top strapless rider in the rankings and claimed 2nd place in the U19 category, confirming his position among Europe's top young pump foilers.
For this event, Lou competed on the following setup:
-
Donut HDCC 86
-
HM77 V3 mast
-
Veloce S V3
-
Hypertrail L stabilizer
-
Carbon Tail M
Lou Thouin's reaction
"It was a different format from what we're used to because there was only one dock available. That meant we couldn't run the usual head-to-head battles, which was a bit of a shame, but the timed courses were very varied and required constant adaptation. I'm really happy to finish 6th overall, tied on points with 5th, while also being the top strapless rider. Finishing second on the U19 podium is a great reward and shows that all the work is continuing to pay off."
The tour will conclude in Austria from September 4 to 6, 2026, where Lou will be looking to build on this strong momentum.
