Benjamin Castenskiold makes history at the Spanish Cup in Tarifa

Our team rider became the first rider ever to post a perfect 30-point heat at the Spanish Cup, delivering a flawless performance in 30+ knot conditions that perfectly matched his explosive riding style. Armed with his trusted Droid Aramid X, Hyperloop, and Ypra Freestyle, the reigning Surf-Freestyle World Champion produced a heat that many believed was only a matter of time.

The Danish wonder kid has been knocking on the door of perfection for months, consistently stacking heats filled with scores in the high nines. With the right wind finally arriving in Tarifa, everything came together.

Two wins in a row

Fresh off his first World Cup victory of the season (also in Tarifa just one week earlier) Castenskiold raised the bar once again. His perfect heat featured three innovations he had spent the entire off-season developing: a massive Double Front, the first ever landed in competition, a stylish Late Back refined alongside teammate Malo in the Gorge, and the spectacular Palau Back. Combined with impeccable execution and huge amplitude, the performance earned a clean sweep of perfect scores for a historic total of 30 points.

The victory also marked Castenskiold's second Tarifa win in just one week, underlining the exceptional form he has carried into the 2026 season.

As a non-Spanish rider, however, Benjamin was not eligible for the Spanish national title, which instead goes to second-place finisher Leo Suardiaz.

But there is only one title occupying Castenskiold's mind: defending his Surf-Freestyle World Championship crown in 2026.

His rivals won't have long to prepare. The Surf-Freestyle World Cup now heads to Gran Canaria from 20–25 July, where the legendary nuclear winds promise another spectacular showdown.
