Hollow technology designed to enhance your favorite riding disciplines!

Not only is freestyle possible on a Hollow board, but the benefits of this technology are particularly well suited to the discipline: minimal inertia, instant responsiveness and ultra-precise control. All without sacrificing the volume needed to get back up and flying in no time after a crash.

The remaining challenge was to ensure this technology could withstand the significant loads generated by the discipline. The brief was clear: mechanical strength worthy of a conventional full sandwich board, or nothing.

That is exactly what we offer with the Hyperloop Hollow Carbon, thanks to a technology that allows the reinforcements to be precisely sized and positioned in the areas subjected to the highest loads.

Here’s how it works 👇

A construction designed to handle landings

Lightweight does not mean fragile. Hollow boards use high-density carbon sandwich shells, comparable to those found in a conventional sandwich construction, combined with reinforcements precisely positioned in the areas subjected to the highest loads.

Inside, the vertical beams of the skeleton connect the deck to the bottom. Specific structures absorb the loads coming from the heels, inserts, foil boxes and the rider’s stance. On Pro Team models such as the Hyperloop, these reinforcements are engineered to withstand the high loads generated by jumps and committed landings.

The other critical areas also receive specific reinforcements. The joint line along the outline features an internal sandwich overlap, creating a double thickness, as well as an additional external laminate. The connection between the foil boxes and the deck, which concentrates a large proportion of the loads, also benefits from a particularly reinforced assembly.

Note that the skeleton is not distributed uniformly. Reinforcements are placed only where they are genuinely needed to withstand loads without unnecessarily adding material elsewhere. Under the stance in particular, high-density sandwich elements firmly connect the deck to the lower structure. They work edge-on, meaning they are oriented to make maximum use of their mechanical strength.

A pad designed for repeated impacts

The connection between the rider and the board is completed by the Shock Traction Pad. Inspired by the best wave windsurfing board pads, it combines powerful grip with targeted cushioning.

With up to 8 mm of thickness in the reinforced areas under the feet, it absorbs impacts where they matter most. Landings become more comfortable for both the rider and the board, without losing the firmness and precision required to control the foil.

How impact resistant is it?

Like any other board, the Hollow construction is optimized for the loads encountered while riding, jumping and landing. It remains just as sensitive to localized impacts against hard surfaces (harness hook, knee impact, contact on land, etc.). Where the Hollow construction stands out is in how easy it is to drain.

Unlike a sandwich board, whose EPS foam core can absorb water, gain weight and eventually promote delamination, a Hollow board makes it very easy to evacuate any water ingress through its drain plug. Once the board has been drained and dried, all that is needed is a standard composite repair to the shell, just like on any other board.

If the damage is limited to the shell, simply drain the board, let it dry for a few hours, then carry out a standard composite repair.

Damage to the internal structure requires more attention. Localized delamination of a beam can be repaired by opening an access hatch and bonding the structure back into place. A break or very extensive delamination may be irreparable. Fortunately, this type of damage remains very rare and has its equivalent on an EPS foam board when major delamination deeply affects the foam.

What are the benefits of Hollow construction for freestyle?

  1. An instant response between the rider and the foil

In freestyle, every input matters. The board must respond immediately when the rider loads the foil, initiates a rotation or needs to stop a maneuver with precision.

The extremely rigid architecture of the Hollow Full Carbon SCC® construction creates a direct connection between the rider’s feet and the foil. The board and foil therefore react as one unit, with no loss of energy and no delayed feeling.

This direct connection is a major advantage in freestyle. It delivers:

  • A more explosive pop;
  • Greater precision during rotations;
  • Faster changes of direction;
  • Easier initiation and stopping of maneuvers;
  • More precise control on takeoff and landing.

The board feels especially lively underfoot. Every movement is transmitted directly to the foil, allowing faster, finer and more instinctive corrections.

  1. Keep the volume, remove the inertia

Until now, gaining maneuverability often meant reducing board volume. Hollow construction completely changes that logic.

At the same volume, the 2027 Hollow construction is around 30% lighter than an FSP Pro construction. The rider can therefore retain the volume needed for stability, flotation and easy takeoff, while significantly reducing the mass that has to be moved through the air.

This reduced inertia makes it easier to initiate rotations, but also to stop them. The board requires less effort, repositions more quickly under the feet and becomes easier to control throughout the entire maneuver. The Hyperloop therefore retains the support needed before takeoff while giving the sensation of a much smaller board once in the air.

This light weight is also a major advantage after a fall. Crashes and missed landings are an integral part of progressing in freestyle. A light board is easier to reposition and get going again, allowing you to take off quickly and keep attempting tricks with less fatigue.

Hollow construction truly comes into its own in freestyle

A Hollow board is therefore not simply compatible with freestyle: it enhances exactly the qualities riders are looking for in this discipline.

Its rigidity delivers an immediate response, its low swing weight speeds up rotations and its reinforced construction handles committed landings. The Shock Traction Pad adds the grip and cushioning needed to keep pushing attempts with confidence.

With the Hyperloop Hollow Carbon, there is no longer any need to choose between the comfort of extra volume and maneuverability in the air. You keep the volume, radically reduce swing weight and gain a much more direct connection between your feet, the board and the foil.
