At takeoff, the gain is immediate. You can find yourself up on foil when you have barely sheeted in your wing. The lightness and exceptional stiffness of the board work together to convert all your energy and release you from the water with minimal effort. The board literally rebounds off the water.

As a result, pumping in light wind is both significantly more efficient and much less physical. Just a few pumps are enough, and adding one or two extra pumping movements to make sure you get going is no longer the effort you are used to. It is seriously impressive. The strong rebound off the water boosts acceleration until the foil takes over.

This is notably thanks to the improved weight distribution, concentrated under your feet.
