Four friends, one sailboat and two years to explore the world by sea.
Aristide, Benjamin, Gautier and Léo have set sail on what promises to be an incredible life experience! With their GONG gear on board, sessions will punctuate their round-the-world sailing adventure.
At 18, they made each other a promise: buy a boat together and set off to discover the world. Last week, that dream became reality for Gautier, Benjamin, Léo and Aristide, who left Pornichet aboard Ludo, heading for the Canary Islands, the first stop on a journey they expect to last two years.
The crew: Gautier, Aristide, Léo and Benjamin.
A crew formed just a stone’s throw from the GONG Space Center
The four friends grew up in La Baule, just a few miles from the GONG Space Center, surrounded by regattas and boardsports. They have been sailing since their Optimist days and have competed in different formats at the highest level. With Ludo, a 1982 Amel Maramu they prepared for the journey, they are discovering a different way of sailing: offshore cruising. The pace is no longer about competition, but discovery.
Their idea goes far beyond simply sailing around the world. Ludo will be their mobile base camp for reaching isolated waves, exploring remote spots and meeting local riders. Wing, kite, pump foiling, surf and surf foiling: they have brought everything they need to make the most of every stop. Beyond the Atlantic, they are already dreaming of South America, Patagonia, the Pacific, Polynesia, Fiji and Indonesia.
GONG is delighted to support the Ludes on this project born from a promise they made when they were young. We can’t wait to follow their journey and see them out on the water.
The first few days went smoothly despite some solid conditions in the Bay of Biscay. Follow them on Instagram and in the GONG magazine.
Fair winds to all four of them!
