I-Prone Inflatable Trainer 12'0
Program
The cruising Prone Paddleboard, sleek and efficient, designed for sporty sessions.
Overview
The I-Prone boards are high-end, purpose-built shapes created by pioneering shaper Patrice Guénolé and a team of passionate engineers.
Designed to get you on the water as often as possible, improve your fitness and prepare for your best sessions, these paddleboards are making their return to the inflatable range with a complete lineup.
The I-Prone Trainer 12’ is the cruising model in the range. Sleeker, faster-gliding and more elongated than the 10’6, it is designed for kneeling or prone paddling during sporty sessions, delivering true glide and efficiency. It is the perfect bridge between the compact surf trainer and the endurance-focused 14’.
This lightweight and efficient board is designed for riders who want to extend their sessions, improve their paddling technique and enjoy a fast, smooth glide without stepping straight into a larger format. It naturally encourages you to maintain pace, accelerate, push for speed runs and compare times on your regular route. Its stretched outline, refined nose and pin tail enhance tracking, average speed and glide sensation on flat water, calm seas, light chop or small rolling swells.
Its premium woven fusion dropstitch construction, reinforced with two stringers, delivers the rigidity, lightness and durability required for committed riding and intensive use. The Velvet Traction Pad Hardbrush provides both reliable technical support and the comfort expected when paddling prone or kneeling: the contact feels smooth, and the board remains comfortable even during long and intense sessions. Multiple handles make carrying and handling easier both on land and on the water. The I-SUP Race standard, applied to a board dedicated to paddling.
With its 21” width and refined tips, the 12’ delivers a true prone paddling glide and requires precise positioning. It is a playful and technical board for riders looking for sporty cruising with the signature glide sensation these boards are known for.
The I-Prone Trainer 12’ is also an easy board to live with. Head out on the water with friends, clear your mind, paddle through wind, glassy conditions, chop or small swells, without the hassle of a fragile and bulky hard board.
Like all inflatable boards, everything fits into one bag where the board and your entire gear setup naturally find their place.
With its stunning design and carefully selected materials, the I-Prone Trainer 12’ is the dedicated board for the prone cruising program you’ve been looking for. A truly beautiful paddleboard offered at a record-breaking price for the high-end category.
Outline
Its long, narrow outline is designed for gliding. Its sleek lines are designed to promote paddling speed, with a nose and tail among the thinnest in the range.
Its rounded pin tail is very pinched to minimize drag and promote efficient paddling. This shape has the perfect width for a sporty and powerful stroke. The nose is thin for smooth gliding, even in choppy conditions.
Rocker
Its low rocker allows for maximum speed. If you want to increase the pace, its streamlined shape will accelerate effortlessly.
Rounded Pin Tail
We appreciate its particularly smooth glide, which is enhanced by the board's narrow profile and very pin tail shape. In terms of maneuverability, circling a buoy with its length and thin tail requires some skill. It's not designed for surfing, however, but it will certainly handle smooth takeoffs aiming for the shoulder.
Rails
The rails are round, like on all inflatable boards. But we used this natural shape to help the water glide over the board. The water doesn't stick to the rails.
Nose
The narrow nose is designed to maximize water penetration. It maintains the right lift with a consistent width around the knees or upper body for dynamic paddling.
In more difficult conditions, its almost bow-like nose point allows it to pass through choppy waters serenely.

Understanding the GONG range?
What’s the difference between our SUP First, I-SUP and I-Prone inflatable ranges?
What quiver?
The I-Prone boards are purpose-built boards that fit perfectly into a complete quiver. This is your prone cruising board: sleek, fast-gliding and dynamic for improving paddling, rhythm, balance and water-reading skills.
For accessories, think about a suitable leash, a premium US fin, a water bottle or a small waterproof bag depending on your outings. As for boards, it all depends on your surfing style: shortboard for performance surfing, longboard for classic glide, SUP surf for mixing paddling and waves, or I-Surf for lightweight travel.
Which leash?
Your leash is your life jacket, always remember that. Check its condition before every session and replace it every year.
In all cases, we strongly recommend wearing one. To paddle freely without restriction, choose a coiled SUP leash suited to your board length: it stays out of the way while paddling without compromising your safety.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in direct sunlight, especially an inflatable board which heats up very quickly. The materials can soften with heat and begin to delaminate. Never store it behind a car window or near a heat source.
Never let your board get heavily worked by waves, especially near shore. You must protect it from major impacts. A wave that grabs and rolls your board can cause serious damage.
Do not hold onto the leash indefinitely under heavy tension as it may eventually break. Avoid large waves and do not resist excessive force. If it breaks, it is easy to replace but always frustrating.
Stay away from oysters: they are one of the rare shells capable of cutting your board and causing it to deflate within seconds. Extreme caution advised.
Do not let your inflatable board rub continuously against anything. For example, on a boat, your board may move with every wave and rub in the same spot for hours. The material can wear away as if sanded down, eventually creating a hole that will require a patch repair.
Never place the board between yourself and the wave: risk of injury, including a broken nose ;-)
Do not paddle offshore with wind blowing from land to sea, and avoid windy sessions in general as they are rarely enjoyable and always dangerous. Prone paddling is an activity with real risks, even in seemingly calm conditions. Always anticipate these risks and protect yourself accordingly.

What is the GONG I-Prone Trainer 12’?
The I-Prone Trainer 12’ is the core model of the prone paddleboard range: faster-gliding than a 10’6, more compact and playful than a 14’, with an excellent balance between efficiency, ease of use and pure enjoyment on the water.
It is designed to be paddled kneeling or prone, without a paddle, delivering a true close-to-the-water glide sensation. Its program is versatile: sporty cruising, physical training, gliding on small swells, long rolling waves, soft bumps and regular sessions to maintain excellent physical condition.
It is the central model in the I-Prone range: the one that already delivers plenty of glide without moving into the bulkiness of larger formats.
Why choose the 12’ rather than the 10’6?
The 10’6 is more compact, more stable through the tail, more playful in whitewater and better suited to kneeling surf sessions with short lines. It offers greater control in small waves, foam sections and tight transitions.
The 12’ pushes glide much further. Its waterline length, refined nose and pin tail deliver more inertia, better tracking and higher average speed. It is less about tight turns and far more rewarding for drawing long lines, gliding across swells, holding clean trajectories and enjoying pushing bumps.
In short: the 10’6 is the most surf-trainer oriented, while the 12’ is the most versatile and central model in the range.
Why choose the 12' rather than the 14'?
The 12’ remains quicker to inflate, easier to handle, simpler to store and more lively under the body. It requires precise positioning, but still keeps a real sense of day-to-day practicality. It’s a board you’ll easily take out for a physical session, a coastal run, short to medium training sessions or gliding on small swells.
The 14’ feels smoother and more composed. The 12’ feels more reactive, more direct and more versatile.
Is the I-Prone Trainer 12’ suitable for waves?
Yes, but not in the same spirit as the 10'6.
The 12' is not made for linking short turns. Its program in the waves is more about "long distance" gliding: starting early, going for an angle across the wave, following the wave, taking advantage of a bump that pushes or a wave that doesn't close out.
It loves long straights, small gentle swells, waves that unfold without breaking abruptly, and glassy bodies of water.
What is the benefit of the 12' for physical training?
The 12’ is probably the most interesting format for staying in excellent shape without making life complicated.
It allows you to work hard on cardio, core strength, shoulders, back, coordination and balance, while still keeping a true sense of glide. You can go for a short and intense session, a longer outing, a timed run or simply paddle cleanly to maintain a steady cadence.
It’s a board that makes you want to get on the water often because it remains easy to inflate and transport, while still delivering enough efficiency to keep training motivating. For physical conditioning alone, it makes perfect sense in a quiver.
What type of user is the I-Prone Trainer 12’ aimed at?
It is designed for riders looking for a versatile, sporty and fast-gliding prone board, without jumping straight into large endurance formats.
It suits riders who already have a decent sense of balance, enjoy narrow platforms, want to improve their paddling and are looking for an efficient board to multiply sessions. With its 21” width and refined tips, it requires more precise positioning than a very stable board, but that is exactly what gives it its glide and technical appeal.
It is an excellent board for surfers, watermen, SUP riders, foilers or coastal rescue athletes looking for a simple, physical and efficient training tool.
Is the 12" easy to use on a daily basis?
Yes, that’s one of its biggest advantages.
It remains compact enough to inflate, handle and transport easily, while already offering significantly more glide than a shorter format. Because it is inflatable, it removes the usual constraints of rigid prone paddleboards: complicated storage, roof-rack transport, impact fragility and permanent bulk.
Everything fits into its wheeled bag with the rest of your gear, making it easy to store and quick to take out without heavy logistics. That is exactly what makes this format so relevant: you get the feel of a true prone board with modern ease of use.
Why does GONG offer inflatable prone paddleboards?
