Pumping with large front wings is probably the most stressful effort for a mast: the front wings are powerful, the movements intense and the expectations are high. So the slightest deformation is a loss of energy and therefore of performance. This is where this 72 HM mast shows all its potential: even with a 186 cm front wing you don’t feel the slightest torsion!

Rigid profile

To achieve such a result, all the geometry of the mast has been optimized in this perspective. Its upper profile is almost rectangular (although profiled) in order to keep the thickness on the entire chord. This geometry maximizes rigidity in flexion, but especially in torsion. Torsion is a horrible feeling when using a large front wing. This mast is the answer to this concern that harms the drive and causes strong loss of energy. 

The lower profile of the mast is a light supercritical profile, which promotes water flows and therefore glide which remains a crucial point in pumping. However, this profile is bombed enough for its curvature to act like a beam that completely blocks flexion. 

The wing fillets around the top plate were completely redesigned to distribute the efforts on their whole length. This geometry maximizes torsion rigidity. The efforts are distributed on almost 20 cm instead of 15 cm on the 70 HM mast. Carbon fibers transmit more energy to the board. The result is stunning!

  We designed this mast so you can have a blast with beachstart or dockstart sessions. 72 cm is the best size for these programs: neither too long to start from the beach, nor too short to take off from a dock. In addition, this size is ideal for pumping the foil comfortably with the expected margins and dynamism. 

Self-tightening conical fitting

The conical self-tightening fitting at the lower end of the mast allows the mast to be mounted without play in the aluminum or titanium V2 fuselage. The more you pump, the tighter it gets! And with its three screws, you are sure that nothing will move. The top plate is molded in one piece with the mast, which allows absolutely no play. The assembly guarantees you zero loss of energy when pumping and impeccable steering precision.

Pre-preg carbon layups

 The high modulus carbon and prepreg carbon layup is a model of its kind. The 50 layers of the mast are distributed in 5 angles to guarantee incredible dynamism. The return to its initial shape after effort is 4 times faster than on a standard mast. And the use of high modulus carbon drastically reduces deformations. The prepreg is one of the keys to the performance of this mast because the resin is applied in the perfect dosage in the carbon fiber before it is placed in the mold by a robot. The precision of the dosage is absolute. No risk of delamination, bubbles, dryness, or excess weight. 

Total precision! TORAY M40J high modulus carbon offers incredible stiffness. It is a high-end carbon that delivers high mechanical properties while remaining resistant. A carbon popular in aeronautics as well as for high-end sports equipment. Its mechanical characteristics such as its superior tensile strength and Young’s modulus make it possible to obtain exceptional performance on the water.  This huge piece is produced in a mold weighing more than 400 kg, operated by large machinery to protect people. More than 4 hours are needed to set all the layers in the perfect order. Then comes the moment of closing the mould, always impressive in terms of strength and precision. Finally, it is inserted into the heating press to compress it to 120 tons and heat it at 155°. The result will be a mast of rare rigidity

The huge advantage of high-end carbon is its stiffness. To the point that it is not useful to put as much material as with other materials. Thus we gain a significant weight, almost 20% compared to aluminum. And beyond the measured weight, the dynamism brings a feeling of liveliness and therefore of incredible lightness. 

A damaged insert: you can replace it in a few seconds and for a few euros. Easy. A shock in the rocks: you repair your mast as you would repair your board. 

In summary, this carbon mast combines finesse, lightness and extreme rigidity to shred on your spot. In summary, the 72 HM mast is the best in terms of rigidity. Its shape designed to withstand very strong constraints without the slightest deformation clearly makes it a pumping machine that easily takes on large wings. The products have no flex, the fibers are oriented along multiple axes to lock in bending and torsion, ensuring maximum responsiveness.

Thanks to pre-impregnated fibers, we can guarantee optimal resin usage, providing perfect cohesion at the lightest possible weight.

Each layer of carbon is carefully hand-assembled around a high-density hydrophobic foam core, in a steel mold. A central stiffener is integrated to increase rigidity without compromising on lightness.

The mold is then subjected to high pressure and heated to 150°C to solidify the carbon. The foam core, seeking to expand under the heat, ensures even compression between the carbon layers, ensuring a strong and durable structure.

For whom?

Simply those who want an ultra rigid mast for large wings.

It is also the perfect ally of a big rider in surf or SUP foiling looking for maximum rigidity.

This is a mast for the most demanding users, the fine tuners that take care of their gear, because it is the best.

This mast is intended for experienced riders. We therefore invite you to take great care of it and not equip yourself with it if you are just getting started.

What is it for?

Its shape, designed to absorb very strong constraints without the slightest deformation, makes it perfect for pumping with large wings. It is the most demanding discipline on the foils: the front wings are wide and the efforts intense, this is where you will experience the full potential of this mast!

It is also perfect in SUP and surf foiling in small conditions for example with a large front wing. These pumping qualities make your flight back to the peak almost easy. You can catch a swell line far in the distance and enjoy long rides back to the breaking zone.

Which HM mast size?


The 72cm:

  • For dock starts/beach starts: it is perfect for controlling and transmitting power to a large foil.
  • In surf foiling / SUP foiling: paddling is not an issue with this 72 cm mast, while its qualities in pumping will allow you to take advantage of the smallest conditions or the largest wings.
  • In wing foiling, the shape is really not suitable because it is very short for this use.


Which quiver?

This mast is suitable for all wings but we recommend using it with high performance wings to make the most of it.

It is on large front wings that it will prove to be decisive.

Foil positioning?

For GONG foils, place the top plate at the rear third of the US rails in surfing, SUP and kite, and in the middle of the US rails in wing foiling.
The more you move it forward, the more it makes the board pitch up. The further you move it backwards, the more the nose of the board dives.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend to forget to use the back foot, especially when we have a kite foil background. However, moving the foil back a little forces you to put more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.

Delivery

Delivery delay

We indicate a preparation and shipping time of 3 working days. In reality, the majority of orders are shipped within 24/48 hours.

The delivery time, i.e. delivery time of the package to your home, then depends on the delivery location and the carrier.

We work with reliable and efficient carriers. 99% of shipments go perfectly and quickly. In the case of the remaining 1%, rest assured that we will do what is necessary with the carrier.

Shipping fees

Unlike other sites, shipping costs are not hidden behind the price of our products. You know exactly what shipping costs you, and you are not disadvantaged if you choose to collect your order at our GONG Space Center.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight and volume of each package, and your delivery address.

Tracking your package

Delivery tracking is managed directly by the carriers to whom we have entrusted your packages. They will contact you by email or SMS to allow you to choose delivery methods and follow the route of your package.

Carriers

We work with the best transport societies to deliver to you throughout Europe and the world within very short deadlines. We chose them for their quality of service and their compliance with deadlines.

For mainland France, 80% of your orders arrive at their destination in less than 48 hours of processing.

For Europe, delivery times vary from 3 to 6 working days, depending on the country of destination.

For the rest of the world, delivery times depend on transit time and customs clearance time. This delay depends on customs and can last from a few days to a few weeks depending on the destination and seasonality.

Please note, transport time is added to preparation/shipping time. Two companies collaborate on your order (GONG and the carrier). Each one masters its activity and is committed to optimizing its deadlines so that you are delivered as quickly as possible and at a reasonable price.

Eco-responsible packaging

Preserving the environment is an absolute priority. This is why we do everything possible to reduce our ecological footprint.

The most important thing is to sell quality, durable products that will be repairable and will please you for a long time.

For our shipments, we use:

Receipt of your product

Upon delivery, check the condition of your package in the presence of the carrier. A complete explanation email on the procedure to follow will be sent to you when your order is shipped.

Despite our requirements and all the care we take in the packaging and protection of your product, transport hazards may occur, and your product may suffer more or less significant transport damage.

Note that the products are protected in their carton. If you have any doubts, simply refuse delivery and contact us.

Warning

The practice of the sport Foil may expose you to serious injury. A poor mastering of foil may lead to cut, serious injury and/or including death for you and/or others.

Foil should be practiced by taking into consideration all kite user precautions that are associated with  the sport foil. Remember that a foil is long, cutting, and reaches high speeds. Getting hit by a foil, or hitting someone/thing can have dramatic consequences.

Always foil far from others, in a secure and safe waterscape without obstacles.

Foil is most often practiced in light winds which may cease to blow leading you to return to shore by swimming. As a consequence do not overestimate your your strength/capacity : never go further out than your skill and swimming capacities and wind conditions allow.

Always wear a helmet and life vest for floatation. Always wear a full body wetsuit.

When handling the foil, be careful not to cut yourself along the edges.
