What size of board of wing ?

Intermediaries / Confirmed

In wing, we identify three main types of reports to volume:

Comfort :

You can take a sufficient volume to float, of the order of your weight + 10 = volume.

Example: I weigh 80kg + 10 = 90L to float. Which means that with 90L and the more I will be easy, provided I have a good level in wing.

Sport :

You can also the sub liter, a board if it is wide enough to be stable. So if you have a great level and desire for maximum responsiveness, you can go to negative volumes. Until your weight - 10 = volume you can go on your knees, relying on the wing on the water.

Example: I weigh 80kg + 10 = 90L to float. This means that with 70l my board will slightly flow. I should be precise and sporting at each start.

SINKER:

At your weight - 30 = volume, you will have to make Waterstarts by pouring the board: it is technical, very physical, and you lose part of the low wind beach. And above all: it takes substance, which can be annoying. The performance gain is questionable according to your level, but the gain in sensations and responsiveness is interesting for some. It is also the best way to have light equipment, which is essential for pros and especially strong.

Example: I weigh 75kg - 30 = 45L to use my board in sinker mode. This means that with 65L and less, my board will completely flow and I should make a real Wakeboard type Waterstart. In this case, less volume makes things often easier because we sink the board without worry to put it under our feet and climb on it. A small board will do less cap, therefore easier to put on and less prompt to takeoff. Its surface stability qualities remain the same underwater.

Finally, the most unstable volume is often between 15L and 25L less than your weight.

Rigid or inflatable?

The advantages of an inflatable board:

  • Minimal size

An inflatable board is foldable and holds in a transport bag that can be carried on its back! On the freefly, perf and pro models of the hipe, this transport bag is squarely mounted on casters which allows you to travel long distances with all your equipment. Our transport bags are designed to contain all the elements necessary for your practice (pump, wing, complete foil, leashes and combi). An ideal techno for traveling serenely and more economically, whether by plane, train, Fiat 500, in short, we take it everywhere!

  • Storage facility

If you do not have a garage or storage space for your gear, minimum size is again a big advantage of this techno. If you are in an apartment, there is only one bag to transport and store. Clean and easy to store.

  • Performances

The inflatable techno does not make performance concessions. Our construction, a real revolution, actually includes 2 independent boards stuck together.

The first is a plate made up of composite materials. It is ultra rigid and its role is to transmit precisely the supports and information given by the rider without any latency.

The second part is the inflatable structure which is there to bring the necessary volume for buoyability.

The inflatable boards are essentially distinguished from rigid boards by the precision of the shape that allows a rigid techno. The inflatable board will have rounder rails than a rigid board. This is inherent in this techno. This impacts the lateral stability of the board which we will therefore choose with a little more inflatable volume to compensate. We therefore do not lose in pure performance on an inflatable board but slightly in inertia with a slightly higher volume. We recommend at least +15L compared to a rigid board for a wing Foiler of a confirmed level, plus 25-30l for an intermediate level and more than 40L for a beginner.

An inflatable board is therefore aimed at mesters of all levels. Shapes vary on models with for example more width for beginners (stability +++) or a narrow tail on Hipe Pro for example (Take off +++ and painless touches in wave riding). The perf and pro hipes also offer the same equipment as the rigid boards with a V strap at the front and a simple strap on the back.

  • Comfort in navigation

The inflatable boards are very reassuring because the contacts are soft with its surface. During a fall, there is less risk of hurting yourself. Especially because the rails are a little more rounded. We have a very safe feeling about this type of board and rightly so.

  • Sustainability

In case of shocks or bad manipulations on the beach or in the parking lot, you will be unlikely to damage it. If you manage to pierce the layer of your inflatable board, it can be easily repaired with the supplied repair kit (glue not included because they keep poorly). Unlike the repair of a rigid board which requires the intervention of a professional or to have a good experience in composite materials, you are independent for repair which is not very complicated.

  • The price

An inflatable board is cheaper to produce than a rigid board because the working time is much shorter. In addition, our sales model allows us to offer cannons prices on all the hipes in the range, with a particular effort on the Hipe First which makes the practice of wing foil accessible to the greatest number.

The advantages of a rigid board

  • More oriented shapes

A rigid shape allows you to have a board more specialized in a program. For example, a Kube FSP Pro whose carrier shape optimizes freestyle replacements or a FSP Pro lethal whose stained lines allow all angles in wave riding.

  • Less inertia

For the same volume, a rigid board will be more stable when stopped than an inflatable board. So you can choose it smaller to enjoy reduced inertia in flight. Interesting when you want to push the tricks and boost your rail to rail.

  • The volume distribution

A rigid shape allows a more precise volume distribution such as the addition of a bulb on the nose of certain boards from 2023, to gain stability at the stop and facilitate repop.

  • The pleasure of beautiful lines

It's beautiful ! And a Shape that appeals to the eye generally gives very beautiful things on the water. Which is true for a surfing or windsurfing shape is also in wing foil. It’s a pleasure to read a shape on the ground and analyze your behavior on water. The concave of a hull, the ridge of a rail or the drawing of a tail are all elements that we learn to understand and use by progressing.

Your spot also has an influence on the choice, a clapotious body of water, advantage with rigid techno for stability. Flat body of water, the inflatable will be sufficient. There is always the question of the place to transport and store a rigid board. So it's very personal and there is no bad choice. We give you the keys, it's up to you to open the door you like the most 😉

How to compare a rigid and inflatable board?

To make a choice between a rigid board and an inflatable board, one cannot refer only to the volume. Unlike the rigid boards, the thickness of which will vary between the tail, the center and the nose, the inflatable boards have exactly the same thickness over their entire length. This constant thickness therefore creates in a way a “lost” volume because it will not help more in terms of stability or takeoff.

A rigid board and an inflatable board of the same volume will therefore have differences in their length and or their width. Knowing that the stability of a board is largely given by its width, and its ability to take off early by its length. It is therefore necessary to compare the dimensions (length and width) of a rigid board and an inflatable board, the volume is therefore only a benchmark and should not be the only indicator.

So for beginner / intermediate levels, if you opt for an inflatable board, we therefore advise you to take a slightly larger board. You will gain as much in stability as it slides into the light wind.

In order to better understand all these parameters that are the length, the width, the volume, the hull, the technology and the shape of a board, we explain all the qualities in this How to: Choose your board wing.

What technology?

What wing ?

To choose your wing, focus on your program: Allround, Light Wind, Freerace, Freestyle, Waverriding:

There Wing More: Allround!

  • Its role is to facilitate your first year of wing. It has no limits with its very efficient but not specialized Shape like its sisters. Light, easy, powerful, its qualities also make it the wing The most versatile in the range for experienced riders.

There Wing Superpower Boom: Full Power!

  • Your body of water exposes you to capricious, irregular, sluggish winds? It's here wing Unbeatable in the light and for strong templates: spraying power and furious acceleration.

There Wing Pulse Boom: Freerace attitude!

  • Overcome others at speed and in course, easily hold in gusts, and accelerate serenely. It shatters in all the registers of the race, and propels the wing in a new performance register.

There Wing Droid: Freestyle Machine!

  • Maximum compactness to chain tricks and rotations. His hollow delivers an incredible recovery for ever more pop. In wave riding it is also very effective thanks to its extreme maneuverability and its power that takes you out of all situations and allows you to under toilet to win in mania.

There Wing Neutra: Ultimate Wave Riding!

  • Absolute fluidity with this wing 100% surf/jump/transitions. We come back to the essentials of what made us dream the last century to sublimate it in wing. Light on the scale, and very light in hand.

Longue guide:

What type of handle?

Since 2024 and on the limited series Neutra HR and Neutra / Droid Upe, the modular handle system has been delivered from the original. You have the choice, regardless of the model, to be able to climb later textile, rigid or boom handles.

Depending on your needs or the conditions of the day, you go from one system to another in less than 5 minutes.

Textile handles:

Simplicity and not headache! Easy for beginners, comfort in strong or burst conditions ... This type of handle forgives placement errors and limits the risk of impact following an involuntary hanging with your head or board.

Rigid handles:

100% carbon prepreg, ultra light! Carbon handles allow you to gain control, nervousness and return of information. Your wing Answers the second, no dead time!

The pomping is aggressive and the exemplary jump outfit. In surfing, the front of the front handle allows the “gun” intake. You keep a power background that you dose if necessary, and you eliminate the possible flaps that delay you. Very very practical when you know how to use it.

Boom Carbon:

Our pre -and -led carbon boom wrapped in 4 directions for minimum weight and maximum solidity/rigidity is the most upscale techno on the market to make no concession between rigidity, weight and performance.

With its oval section, it offers better grip for less fatigue and maximum comfort. Ovalization also offers more rigidity while reducing the diameter.

Our boom is covered with a molded grip, textured specifically according to the areas of the boom dedicated to long grip or maneuvers, which further improves its handling and reduces efforts. It's velvet ...

This boom, different from the “race” version delivered with the Super Power and Pulse, is specially developed for our wings with interchangeable handles. It is available in 5 sizes to perfectly stick to the needs of all sizes and models. This boom also has the angle which allows the “pistol” intake as with the rigid handles.

What foil?

Our packs of wing Advanced foil are delivered with curve or curve H. true surfers, curve are our front wings to chain curves thanks to their instinctive rail. Everything that makes up their shape invites you to put turns.

Curve:

The “classic” curve has a moderate ratio, a tolerant ++ profile, a very curved outline, and a pronounced camber.

It is very handy but the feeling is very healthy under the feet. The grip in the curves is clear and clear. The grip is clear in disturbed areas or when making a mistake. And tips rarely ventilate.

Curve H:

Its big sister, the Curve H has the magic rail to rail of the curve lined with an impressive slide and a comfortable lift that makes them accessible for a perf.

Curve H is not a front wing of Snap: it's a carveuse. She has grip and does not allow herself out of the curve. We feel a form of constant motor skills in any trajectory, opposite sneaky behavior. The best reason to push even stronger in the turns. Add to that his Omega camber who keeps the tips away from the water to hide strongly without being surprised by ventilation and you get the perfect performance carving wing!

Sirus:

This is the ultimate Lightwind wing.

Its hyper -slender outline with its very thin tips offer a record hunt. Just by the amount on the foil you feel the almost intimidating potential of this wing. The limit will never be the same again.

What mast size to choose?

We have a wide range of mast height. Depending on the sports, you prefer short sizes (as in Surf Foil, Dock Start, etc.) or longer masts (race wing or kite).

Depending on the constructions, you will find which one suits you best.

V2 aluminum masts:

We offer it in 5 sizes (55, 65, 75, 85, 95 cm) to adapt to all sports and all levels:

For a surf / sup foil and dockstart practice we recommend:

55cm The ideal size to start them.

65cm The standard size to progress, small waves and spots with little background.

75cm for experienced levels, Downwind, Tow in Surf, Wake, Dock Starts.

For use wing And kite, it will be played mainly on three sizes:

75cm The ideal size to pull its first edges and for spots with little background.

85cm standard size for maximum versatility, movements and surfing.

95cm perfect for freeride/freerace.

Carbon V2 masts:

Its length of 70cm intends it primarily to surfing/SUP Because it is the ideal compromise between the ability to put the angle in curves and the draft. But you can also use it in kitefoil in the waves or as in wing On spots with little background.

Its length of 85cm intended for priority to the Wing … .. but you can also use it in kitefoil in waves or surfing/SUP On spots with enough depth and down.

Its length of 100cm intends it primarily to the Wing and kite. This size is the ideal compromise between the ability to put the angle in curves without ventilating, the margins in the maneuvers, the clapot management and the high -speed opposition angle.

Carbon HM masts:

  • 70cm:

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: It's perfect with train and to manage in rail to rail.

In Downwind: It is possible even if a little short under certain conditions, we can quickly be overflowed.

In wing : This is possible for spots with very little background.

In kite foil: too small, to forget except to navigate a spot with very little background.

  • The 72cm:

In Dockstart/Beachstart: It is perfect for controlling and transmitting power to an imposing foil.

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: No train problem with its 72 cm, while its qualities in pumping will allow you to take advantage of the smallest conditions or the largest wings.

In wing, the Shape is really not suitable because very short for this use.

In kite too thick, to forget.

  • The 77cm:

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: It's perfect in the curves, at Pumping and the Pop is really crazy! Be careful if your spot is shallow it would surely be necessary to turn to the 70 hm mast 😉

In Downwind: in small conditions it's great, if it's too formed you can get overwhelmed and need the 85 cm.

In wing : It's a bit short but it works very well and it can help out in a trip.

In kitefoil: it's short but it works very well in waves, spot with little background and wind-shore wind

  • The 79cm:

In Dockstart/Beachstart: It is perfect for controlling and transmitting power to an imposing foil. Ideal for high pontoons.

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: It takes a little background with this length on the spot to be able to row comfortably, but qualities in pumping will allow you to take advantage of the smallest conditions or the largest wings.

In wing, it's a bit short but you can get edges quietly in calm environments.

In DW it is the key size that will mix the precision of the trajectories and the small margin of height necessary to avoid the fall.

In kite foil: too thick, to forget.

  • The 85cm:

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: It's really tall in the oar and not super pleasant in the rail to rail. But in the big one it is unstoppable: we need this margin to ensure without being non -stop on eggs.

In Downwind: this is the perfect size for a high level of performance.

In wing : Perfect for freestyle, jumps, waves and control.

In kite foil: useful in the waves with little background, and very versatile.

  • The 86 cm:

In Dockstart/Beachstart: it is perfect for controlling and transmitting power to an imposing foil, but there will be less ease to rise in frequency than with a 72hm because of its length. However ideal for very high pontoons.

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: It's very long to surf the waves of the edge, but it will be perfect for the slightly soft downwinds where you want a large front wing size.

In wing, it's great, it slides and it transmits 100% of the foil support. The size is perfect for carver in the maneuvers without leaving half the forehead wing some water.

In kitefoil, too thick, to forget.

  • 92cm:

In Surf Foil / SUP Foil: It's really tall at the oar and not super pleasant in surfing. But in the big one it is sometimes useful: we need margin to ensure without being non -stop on eggs.

In Downwind: This size offers a high level of performance for those who appreciate being perched far from the clapot.

In wing : Perfect for the breed, for Caper, to oppose Full Speed without making touch.

In kite foil: very versatile, high performance focused without entering the extremes of the Kite Foil upset box.

  • The 107cm:

In Tow-in: It's perfect for very large and fast waves.

In wing : It’s perfect for everyone looking for speed and endurance.

In kite foil: it's perfect for restless conditions and get your VMAX.

Positioning of the foil?

Let's go straight to the point, the general rule for the position of your foil is the center of the case. That's it, it's very simple;). This is the basic functional adjustment for any properly designed foil board. But then why plan several settings you say?

Alternative adjustment can be justified according to your level, the modification of one of the elements of your foil or learning navigation with straps. Let's see this on a case -by -case basis.

To start you have to understand the influence of the position of your foil. It influences the lift and maneuverability of your board. The more you advance it, the more the board is built up. The lift therefore increases but to the detriment of control. The more you get the foil back, the more the nose plunges.

  • A tackle adjustment of your level

When you start we advise you to place the foil at the rear third of the boxes, or even at the bottom for your very first sessions. This adjustment will give a quieter board that will not be rear from the slightest speed. A beginner can thus gradually accelerate with more control during takeoff and a well -established speed. From the moment you control the takeoff and the flight phases correctly, it is time to place your foil in the center of the boxes.

Pros are sometimes even more advanced for more lift and maneuverability. However, be sure not to move it too much. We often tend not to let the rear foot work, especially when we come from kitefoil. Now back up the foil a little forces more weight in the rear foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces efforts.

  • Change of an element of the foil

When you change an element of the foil, you usually have to change its position in the boxes. It is an adjustment which is by successive trials, cm by cm compared to your usual position.

If you opt for an element with more lift you can back down your foil from a CM and vice versa for a new element rather dedicated to top speed for example.

  • Foil position when learning the straps

We design the boards so that the basic functional setting is with a foil in the center of the box. The straps should be screwed into the central hole of the 5 -hole bar. Regarding the use of straps, you have to forge an experience with this setting and then refine CM by cm. If you find it difficult to get used to the use of the rear strap we advise to back down the foil of a CM or two to better balance yourself.

Good to Know:

Wings are very light inflatable structures. This is the reason for their effectiveness. So you have to take great care.

The classic error is to unravel the wing with the foil. You will not escape it. But it's very simple to repair. Our fabrics limit the tear and contain it instead of the impact.

The more serious error is to have the wing in the water and to crash into it by folding it. The crushing will increase the pressure and explode the wing. The repairs are then substantial. Ditto if you inflate too hard.

The inflation pressure of your wing Influence its power and its high beach outfit. If a significant pressure endangered your wing, you can also cheat if the wind is very strong by inflating it a little less to hold it more easily. It will be less stable but much less powerful.

Note that inflating your Wing gives a feeling of heaviness and does not save any performance. It’s a bad reflex.

Everyone wants a wing. So don't take a wing Too complicated at first. Take a wing Really made for your beginner needs and you will resell it without worry in a few months to a boyfriend. The low prices that Gong offers will boost your progress without massaging your budget. Think about it.

How to inflate her wing ?

The technique is well explained in the notice, but we leave you the links to this super detailed How-To.

How to fix your leash of wing ?

Setting your leash correctly is essential. The gesture may seem trivial but poorly executed it can have serious consequences. A wing foiler who loses his board or his wing Offshore will have a lot of trouble recovering it. In a sustained wind that pushes the board or steals the wing, it quickly becomes impossible without assistance. So carefully follow these tips to set your leash.

Before you put in the water, install the Leash wrist at your wing.

It is fixed without the cord, directly using the Velcro on the fixing point which is at the front of the wing.

Check your condition before each session and change it every year. It's your life jacket!

Don't let your wing Beat in the wind at the end of the leash, it is not unbreakable! Ditto in the waves, do not hold your wing Through the leash, it will explode or you will hurt yourself.

How to dry your wing ?

Unless you end your session with a long edge in the sun and dock on a pontoon, it is rather rare to get out of the water with a wing Completely dry. ? Know that there is no need to dry your wing If it is led to be used regularly in salt water, salt protecting mold materials.

If nevertheless for reasons of transport or storage you want to dry them, you must absolutely avoid suspending the wing Defeated by the handle on the attack edge. It’s very practical, however, but it’s the best way to get a beautiful hernia on the central slat at the junction with the attack edge following the sagging of the bladder inside. The bladders are mobile in the slats and the attack edge. So if you suspend it to dry it down, the bladder can slide, see offend, in the sheath of latte.

So ideally, we dry our wing Inflated and in the shade, and at the worst flat or at least with just the swollen central sausage.
