Hollow Hybrid SCC® Technology

Key Points

  • SCC® Hollow architecture derived directly from Hollow Full Carbon: two molded half-shells connected by an internal structural skeleton.
  • Composite sandwich construction combining 6 oz 3K carbon, PVC, 6 oz 3K carbon, and 6 oz 3K fiberglass.
  • Layup arranged from the inside out: 6 oz 3K carbon / PVC / 6 oz 3K carbon / 6 oz 3K fiberglass.
  • Construction comprising 80% carbon fiber and 20% fiberglass, so the structure remains predominantly carbon.
  • Fiberglass wraps the entire board, forming the outer layer of this sandwich construction.
  • Uses 6 oz 3K carbon, offering a more progressive, forgiving response than the high-modulus carbon used in the Full Carbon versions.
  • A very direct feel, with a slightly more progressive response than Full Carbon.
  • This combination maintains very high stiffness and performance while adding forgiveness.
  • The same Hollow manufacturing precision, with dedicated molds for each size.
  • Hollow architecture without a large EPS core, featuring drainage, pressure relief, and the ability to dry completely if water gets in.
  • Technology designed to make the Hollow feel accessible to more riders, without making it a downgraded version of Full Carbon.

Hollow Hybrid Carbon SCC®: A Different Balance of Hollow Feel

Hollow Hybrid Carbon SCC® uses exactly the same structural principle as Hollow Full Carbon: a hollow, molded construction made of two half-shells joined to a true internal skeleton.

Its construction is based on a true composite sandwich. From the inside out, each shell combines an inner 6 oz 3K carbon skin, a PVC core, a second 6 oz 3K carbon skin, and an outer layer of 6 oz 3K fiberglass that wraps the entire board.

The construction therefore comprises 80% carbon fiber and 20% fiberglass. Carbon remains by far the primary fiber, providing most of the stiffness and load transfer, while the outer fiberglass layer contributes to the more progressive response this technology is designed to deliver.

The Hybrid also uses 6 oz 3K carbon, which is more forgiving than the high-modulus carbon used in Full Carbon. This combination maintains very high stiffness, excellent precision, and high performance, while offering a slightly more progressive mechanical response.

The goal is therefore not to reduce performance, but to create a different balance of stiffness, light weight, strength, forgiveness, and price.

Carbon at the heart of the structure, fiberglass across the entire outer surface

The Hybrid remains first and foremost a carbon construction. Its two structural 6 oz 3K carbon skins, positioned on either side of the PVC core, form the mechanical heart of the sandwich.

Fiberglass then forms the outer layer that wraps the entire board. This arrangement combines carbon’s mechanical properties with a slightly more progressive overall response.

Full Carbon takes stiffness and immediate transfer of rider input even further through the use of high-modulus carbon.

The Hybrid pairs its 6 oz 3K carbon with this outer fiberglass skin. It maintains a very precise connection to the foil, while delivering feedback a little less abruptly.

Imprecise foot pressure, an abrupt change in board trim, or a sudden surge of lift can therefore be easier to control.

This difference does not mean a lower level of performance.

It defines a different way to ride.

Same Hollow architecture, same manufacturing precision

Hybrid technology retains the fundamentals of SCC® Hollow: an internal skeleton, load distribution, structural bonds, a reinforced seam, and dedicated molds for each size.

On models also available in Full Carbon, the shape remains exactly the same. Rocker, rails, hull, volume distribution, recessed deck, and outline are reproduced with the same precision.

The choice between the two constructions therefore comes down primarily to the board’s mechanical feel, rather than its shape or intended use.

A more affordable construction, not a simplified Hollow

The Hybrid naturally weighs more than an equivalent Full Carbon, notably due to the use of fiberglass and the choice of carbon with a more progressive response.

It nevertheless remains predominantly carbon. Its two 6 oz 3K carbon skins around the PVC core provide a very stiff, precise structure, while the outer fiberglass layer contributes to the more progressive response.

This choice of materials makes it possible to offer a high-end Hollow architecture at a much more accessible price point.

Full Carbon is better suited to riders seeking maximum stiffness and the most immediate response possible. The Hybrid offers a different balance: high performance, a very direct connection to the foil, and a slightly more progressive, forgiving response.

The choice depends more on how you ride than on a simple performance ranking.

True Hollow architecture for everyday use

Like Full Carbon, the Hybrid has no large EPS core. Its interior is hollow, with a structure built around dedicated internal components.

The drain plug lets you open the cavity between sessions and drain any water that may have entered. The automatic pressure relief vent manages pressure changes during use.

The board can therefore be drained, dried completely, and repaired if its shell is accidentally damaged.

Like any lightweight, high-performance composite structure, it still needs careful handling on land, and the drain plug must be kept open when out of the water, especially during storage, transport, or exposure to intense heat.

The Hollow Hybrid Carbon SCC® DNA

Two molded half-shells.
An internal skeleton engineered to handle the loads.
A 6 oz 3K carbon / PVC / 6 oz 3K carbon / 6 oz 3K fiberglass sandwich.
80% carbon fiber.
20% fiberglass.
An outer fiberglass layer that wraps the entire board.
6 oz 3K carbon with a more progressive response than the high-modulus carbon used in Full Carbon.
Very high stiffness, with a slightly more progressive response.
A direct connection to the foil.
A precisely molded shape.
A Hollow architecture accessible to more riders.

Each of these elements brings something on its own.

Together, they create the Hollow Hybrid Carbon SCC® feel: a very stiff, precise, high-performance board with a slightly more progressive response than Full Carbon.

The shape retains its identity. The foil retains its character.

Hollow Hybrid Carbon simply offers a different way to feel them.
