A superb second-place finish after a week of top-level racing on the Swiss lake.

Francesco Cappuzzo marked his return to a World Cup podium by securing second place at the WingFoil Racing World Cup in Silvaplana, Switzerland. The result rewards months of intense work and confirms the Italian rider’s return to the very top of the sport.

After two days disrupted by a lack of wind, the legendary Maloja wind finally turned Lake Silvaplana into a true speed arena. In these technical conditions, made even more demanding by the altitude, Francesco quickly found his rhythm, winning several races and consistently placing himself among the frontrunners.

An Intense Battle Through to the Finals

Throughout the week, Francesco was locked in a fierce battle with fellow Italian Alessandro Tomasi. The two riders dominated the fleet and entered the Medal Series tied on points. Francesco even won the final qualifying race, showcasing his regained speed and consistency.

Unfortunately, the final turned in the very first race of the Medal Series. A collision between the two Italian leaders on the opening upwind leg compromised their chances of securing a direct victory. Taking full advantage of the situation, Poland’s Kamil Manowiecki seized the opportunity and claimed the event win.

Francesco nevertheless secured an outstanding second-place finish after the tie-break.

“A few months ago, I would never have imagined standing on a World Cup podium again. This result is the reward for months of physical and mental work. Of course, there’s still some frustration after the tactical mistake and collision that prevented us from fighting for the win. But above all, I’m proud of the consistency I showed throughout the week and happy to have rediscovered the feeling that makes the real Francesco, he explains.

Strong Performance for Charlotte Baruzzi

In the women’s fleet, congratulations to our team rider Charlotte Baruzzi, who secured a solid fifth-place finish in a highly competitive field, narrowly missing out on qualification for the final Medal Series.

These performances further confirm the growing strength of the Italian riders on the world tour as the international season enters its most intense phase.
