Slash Single Fin - US Box
Program
A thruster-inspired 2+1 center fin designed to bring responsiveness, control, and modern performance surfing.
Overview
The Slash stands out within the range thanks to its DNA directly inspired by thruster fins. Unlike classic single fins focused on glide and trim, it is designed to deliver more responsiveness, bite, and control in a 2+1 setup. Its goal is clear: bring the behavior of a longboard or mid-length closer to that of a shortboard, while retaining some of the smoothness of a single fin.
With its solid base and moderate rake, the Slash generates drive through turns while maintaining excellent maneuverability. It makes the board more lively, improves rail-to-rail transitions, and allows tighter, more dynamic turns. A modern and highly performance-oriented 2+1 setup.
Template
Thruster-inspired template. The rake is moderate, maintaining a good balance between drive and pivot. It provides enough projection for committed turns while keeping strong responsiveness.

Base
The base is wide and solid, generating strong drive and control in turns. It efficiently transfers energy through manoeuvres.

Depth

Surface area
The surface is concentrated on the lower part of the fin, enhancing stability and drive. The thinner tip allows the board to release more easily out of turns.

Setup
The 2+1 setup combines a center fin with two side bites. This configuration blends the stability and line reading of a single fin with additional control and responsiveness provided by the side fins.
The feeling is balanced: the center fin guides the board through smooth, continuous lines, while the side bites increase grip and make it easier to engage in turns. Surfing remains fluid but gains precision and security in the rail engagement, especially as speed increases.
This is a versatile setup, ideal for preserving the flow and long lines of a single fin while benefiting from improved control in more technical or committed sections.

Buying guide
Who is it for?
This fin is aimed at surfers who want to move away from the classic longboard style toward a more radical, more technical approach closer to shortboarding, while still keeping some forgiveness.
The Slash is designed for modern surfers looking to perform in a 2+1 setup. It suits intermediate to advanced levels. It requires commitment and is built for dynamic surfing.
What is it for?
The Slash is a center fin dedicated to performance 2+1 setups, making it an ideal choice for performance longboards, mid-lengths, and any board seeking to combine glide with modern surfing.
It is perfectly suited for driving hard through fast, hollow sections.
What size?
In a 2+1 setup, the center fin and side bites work together. Their relative sizing directly determines the balance between glide, stability, and maneuverability.
The center fin remains the dominant element: it defines the line, stability, and overall behavior of the board. Side bites complement it by adding grip on rail, allowing stronger engagement in turns.
This balance is essential.
In this guide, we focus on two side bite sizes: 3.5” and 4”, the most common sizes covering most longboard and mid-length applications.
3.5” side bites remain discreet. They keep a behavior close to a single fin, with lots of glide, long lines, and a very smooth board feel. In contrast, 4” side bites add more grip and responsiveness. The board becomes more dynamic, easier to turn, and more modern in feel.
The fundamental rule is simple:
The larger the side bites, the smaller the center fin should be.
Conversely, the smaller the side bites, the larger the center fin can be.
However, there is an important limit: once the center fin exceeds 6.5”, only 3.5” side bites are recommended.
Why?
Because a large center fin already provides significant control and stability. Adding larger side bites would unbalance the setup, making the board too stiff, less smooth, and less enjoyable to surf.
Therefore:
- a 7”, 7.5”, or 8” center fin works best with 3.5” side bites
- 4” side bites are reserved for smaller center fins, generally 6.5” or less, to add dynamics without excess
When the center fin is large and side bites are small, the board behaves closer to a single fin: smooth glide, stable line, and wider turns. Ideal for semi-retro longboards, soft waves, and noseriding.
Conversely, when the center fin is smaller with 4” side bites, the board becomes more lively: faster rail-to-rail transitions, tighter turns, and a more modern feel. Better suited for modern longboards, mid-lengths, and faster waves.
Finally, note that total fin surface should increase as board size increases.
